Holly didn't think they'd fall asleep. They must have, because when she next opened her eyes, it was to the mechanical purr of the blackout blinds being raised, allowing a flood of bright sunlight to spill across the room.

"Rise and shine, sleepyhead!" Andrei called out from the window. He sounded far too chirpy for a man who'd spent most of the night awake.

"Ugh! Close the blinds! Close them already!" Holly grumbled as she threw a hand over her face to block out the light.

Chuckling softly,

"Give us the room," Andrei said, his voice low and commanding. Within seconds, the place was empty. His men and Marta scrambled out of the dining room, giving them all the privacy in the world. "Miss Anderson, are you okay?" Eric rushed to her side the moment they were left alone, turning her by the shoulders to look her over. "Did they hurt you?" Andrei stepped between them, getting directly in Eric's face. "Why the hell wouldn't she be okay? Are you suggesting I would hurt my own wife?" "Wife?" Miles was in total disbelief, his shock palpable. "What do you mean, your wife?" But it was the betrayed look in Eric's eyes that gutted Holly. "That's why you didn't want me at Sandown Mews last night," Eric said. "Because you were here the whole time? When did this happen, Miss Anderson? What did you do? Jesus, what do I tell your parents?" "You don't tell them anything, Eric," Holly said firmly. "I'll talk to them myself." "I'm afraid we can't do that. We have to call it in," Miles

The table was set, the food was ready, and everyone was patiently waiting when Holly and Andrei stepped into the house ten minutes later. After their intense fight, Holly would have preferred to skip breakfast altogether. But since Andrei had so graciously given in to her demands about Eric, she didn't think she should push her luck. So she followed him into the grand dining room, stunned to find it packed with his men. She was even more surprised to see Rowena. After her hasty exit last night, Holly didn't think she'd see Andrei's aunt again—not for a very long time, at least. Everyone stood up the moment Andrei entered, only sitting down when he indicated they could with a mere flick of his hand. Holly was about to take a seat beside him when Rowena quickly whisked her off to the opposite end of the table, explaining there was a strict seating order. As the Matushka, her place was directly opposite Andrei's, at the head of the table. Holly thought it was the most ridiculous thi

After leaving the stables, they took a leisurely drive back to the house, discussing their plans for the day. Andrei didn't have any pressing matters to attend to. But Holly had a ton of admin to get through, like packing up her townhouse in Morningside Mews and checking out of The Castle. There was no point in running up a bill for an empty suite if the plan was to stay at Pinewood Manor until her surgery. "I'll come with you," Andrei offered, taking her hand with his free one and kissing it. "There's no need." Holly shook her head. "Eric and his guys will be there to help me." Andrei's jaw tightened at the mere mention of her handler. He gently dropped her hand and returned his attention to the path with razor-sharp focus. The subtle shift in his mood didn't escape Holly's notice. She brought it up when the silence became unbearable. "Why don't you like Eric?" "He's incompetent." Andrei's response was quick and brutal. "And I'm planning to fire him." "Whoa! Fire him?" Holly wh

The names were still spinning in Holly's head—a dizzying blur of titles, faces, and responsibilities—when the sleek golf cart hummed to life beneath them. The estate out front seemed to expand with every passing second, a sprawling fortress of stone and glass that made her feel entirely small. "Don't be hard on yourself," Andrei said gently, tracking the faint line of panic tightening her jaw. He reached across the seat, his hand a warm, grounding anchor on hers. "You'll get the hang of it, and before you know it, you'll be running this place like a well-oiled machine." Holly highly doubted his optimism. Taking care of herself was hard enough; how on earth was she supposed to run an entire household, especially one as massive as this? "You'll be okay," Andrei said, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze as he guided the golf cart along a scenic path flanked by lush gardens, tennis courts, and rock pools. He pointed out various places of interest along the way, including the employee

For someone complaining about being famished, Andrei was in no hurry to get to the dining room. He took Holly on a tour of Pinewood Manor instead, starting with his own wing of the house. They slowly worked their way through the estate, with Andrei pointing out the various rooms and offering commentary on his extensive art collection. A connoisseur of fine things herself, Holly appreciated his obsession with art. For a little while, as they wandered the expansive hallways and paused to admire the various pieces, she felt like she was sitting in an art history lecture—Andrei's depth of knowledge was easily on par with Eden and Willow's. "Come on, there's still so much to see." He hooked his fingers through hers and led her towards the elevator, insisting stairs were a strict no-no with her banged-up knee. Had she known about it last night, Holly would have insisted on taking it instead of hobbling along after Raymond. "This should look familiar," Andrei said as they stepped out into

Holly grumbled as she threw a hand over her face to block out the light. Chuckling softly, Andrei approached the bed and peeled back the covers, pulling her into his arms. "Not a morning person, are we?" he murmured teasingly. "Of course I am!" Holly replied, snuggling close to nuzzle his neck. She melted against him, welcoming the rough scrape of his five-o'clock shadow along her jaw, intoxicated by how temptingly good he smelled, as sweaty as he was after his morning run. A mere whiff of his scent made her want to climb him like a tree and do all kinds of sinful things to him— "N

Andrei returned to the study, and while he waited for Liam, he checked both his mailboxes, Aero's and the family's. Nothing was burning on Aero's side, but too many pots were with the family. Juan had heard through the grapevine that they had decided not to do business with him. In a lengthy email,

A large part of Andrei's morning was spent cycling between reports, presentations and emails. Then, promptly at 11:15 AM, fifteen minutes before he was supposed to leave for his meeting with the family, Monique knocked on his door, grinning like a Cheshire cat as she waved her tablet at him. "He likes his woman warm-blooded!" Holly snorted as she mulled over Andrei's words. "Excuse me?" the Uber driver said, glancing at her in the rear-view mirror. "Nothing," she replied and stared at her hands. What the hell did that even mean? Did Andrei really believe she wasn't warm-blooded and pass
