Logan

It was lunchtime when I decided to stop by the hospital again.

At least, that’s what I told myself. That I was just checking on Andrea.

But deep down, I knew the truth, I wanted to see Sylvia.

All morning, my mind had been drifting back to her, her calm face, her voice, the way she spoke softly but firmly, like she could command a storm with her words. It was ridiculous how easily she still got to me after everything that had happened between us.

So, I came back.

I told my assistant I had a quick errand and left the office before she could ask any questions. The drive to the hospital felt shorter than usual, maybe because my heart was already there.

When I got to the building, I went straight to Andrea’s room, only to find her bed empty. My chest tightened for a second until a nurse passing by smiled and said, “Don’t worry, sir. Miss Andrea is in the cafeteria with Dr. Sylvia and Dr. Violet. They’re having lunch.”

Of course, she was.

Of course, Sylvia was with her.

Sylvia The restaurant Logan chose wasn’t the usual kind of fancy place men took women to impress them. It was warm, cozy, and quiet, the kind of spot where conversations bloomed easily. The walls were lined with soft lights that glowed like fireflies, and a slow jazz tune hummed in the background. It wasn’t crowded, just the right amount of peace. He had picked me up right after my shift, still in my light blue dress and white coat. I tried to protest, saying I looked too tired, but he just smiled and said, “You look perfect, Sylvia. Come on, before I change my mind and eat without you.”Now sitting across from him, I couldn’t help but feel the familiar nervous warmth that always came with him being near. It wasn’t new, that slow, quiet spark between us, but tonight, it felt different. It felt… closer.“So,” I began, stirring my drink, “how was Atlanta? You didn’t burn the place down with your business ideas, did you?”Logan chuckled, leaning back with that relaxed confidence that al

Sylvia It had been one week and two days since Logan traveled out of the country. The hospital felt strangely quieter without him.Andrea missed him terribly, even though she pretended not to. Every now and then she would ask, “Do you think he’s eating properly?” or “Do you think he’s sleeping?” I would only smile and tell her not to worry, but truthfully, I wondered the same thing.Violet and I had been doing our best to take care of Andrea. Between hospital rounds, checking her vitals, and keeping her entertained, the three of us had become something of a little family. That afternoon, during our lunch break, Violet and I went to her room. Andrea was sitting by the window, her blanket wrapped around her legs, watching a few birds outside. The sunlight fell softly on her face, making her skin glow.“Hey, sunshine,” I said, walking in. “How are we feeling today?”“Like someone who’s been stuck in a hospital for two months,” she said, pretending to pout. “I want real air. The kind out

Logan The flight to Atlanta was smooth, but I barely paid attention. My mind kept drifting, to Andrea, to Sylvia, to the last few months that had been chaos and comfort all at once. I looked out the window as the city lights appeared below me, and I couldn’t help but think that life had a way of balancing everything, pain and peace always came hand in hand. After landing, my driver took me straight to my friend’s estate. His name was David Collins, the governor of Atlanta. He was an old college friend who had grown into one of the sharpest political minds in the country, and one of the most stubborn men I knew.I was supposed to be in a meeting with one of my tech investment teams that evening, but David had insisted I visit him first. When I arrived, his guards escorted me into a large sitting room overlooking the city skyline. David was sitting in a lounge chair, his face looking pale but his eyes still full of fire.“Logan!” he said, getting up to hug me. “Man, look at you! I have

Andrea Later that evening, after Logan left to make some calls, Violet and I sat beneath the old almond tree in the hospital’s garden. The setting sun painted the world in shades of gold and rose, the air thick with the scent of rain-soaked earth. Patients and nurses moved quietly through the walkways, but here, beneath the soft rustling leaves, it felt like the world had slowed down just for us.Violet handed me a small paper cup of juice and sank beside me on the grass. “So,” she said finally, breaking the comfortable silence, “we’re really doing this?”“Of course,” I replied, lowering my voice with mock seriousness. “We’re getting them back together.”She turned to me, her brows raised, lips curving into a sly grin. “Alright, strategist. What’s your grand plan this time?”I smiled to myself, glancing at the hospital window where I knew my brother was pacing, talking to someone on the phone. “Step one,” I began, “we make them spend more time together. I’ll start asking Sylvia to ha

Andrea The afternoon sun poured softly over the hospital garden, bathing everything in a warm, golden glow. I loved this time of day, the way the flowers leaned toward the light, the way the air smelled faintly of rain and roses. After weeks of hospital rooms, this garden had become my little escape.Violet sat beside me on the bench, typing away on her phone as usual. She was supposed to be reading out loud to me, but she’d been distracted since we got here.“Violet,” I said, pretending to sound stern. “You were supposed to be telling me how the story ends.”She blinked, looking up with a guilty smile. “Sorry! My mom just sent me a picture of my cat wearing sunglasses. You have to see this!”I rolled my eyes but laughed anyway as she showed me the photo. “That poor cat looks like it needs therapy.”“He looks fabulous,” she said with mock pride.I giggled, shaking my head. But deep down, I was grateful for Violet. She’d been such a bright spot during my recovery, always bringing laug
