Morning:

Cassian's sleep broke when he felt Hailey stirring beside him. He opened his eyes to find her trying to hide her face against his chest, as sunlight streamed through the gap in the curtains and fell onto her face.

He glanced around and spotted the curtain remote on the side table beside Hailey. He shifted carefully to reach for it, his movements causing Hailey to frown but not wake. She instinctively rubbed her face against his chest, her cheek brushing against the fabric of his vest.

Cassian grabbed the remote and closed the curtains, plunging the room into a soft, comfortable darkness. He settled back down and, sensing her continued discomfort, gently pulled her fully onto him. As he did so, he pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head, his lips lingering for a moment longer than necessary.

Hailey stirred slightly but kept her head resting on his chest. "Sleep," Cassian murmured, his voice a low, soothing command. He wrapped his arms around her more securely, his warmth enveloping her completely.

Hailey didn't respond but instead snuggled closer, her body relaxing into his. The intensity of their closeness, with her head over his heart and his arms encircling her, created a cocoon of intimacy. As Cassian held her, his fingers gently caressed her back, his touch tender yet firm.

The room was quiet, save for the soft rhythm of their breaths and the occasional flutter of Hailey's lashes against his chest. Cassian felt a surge of protectiveness and desire, his heart pounding with a deep, unspoken connection. Hailey, feeling the steady rise and fall of his chest, drifted back into a peaceful slumber, finding solace and security in his embrace.

Hailey woke up and found herself alone in the bed. She looked around but didn't find Cassian anywhere. She freshened up and came out of her room. Today was Saturday, so she didn't have to go to the office.

"Good morning, Rose. How are you feeling?" Cassian asked when she entered the hall area. He was sitting and watching TV, while Caleb was beside him, busy on his phone. "Good morning," Caleb exclaimed.

"Good morning and much better. Breakfast?" Hailey asked because on weekends she always gave Jack off.

"Sure," Cassian replied, followed by Caleb, who raised his hand to show his agreement.

Hailey made breakfast and called them to the table. "Wow, so many things?" Caleb exclaimed in an excited tone.

"I didn't know what you both like, so..." Hailey left her sentence incomplete.

"Thank you," Caleb exclaimed, but Hailey wanted to hear something from Cassian. He silently settled down in his chair. Caleb praised her cooking skills, but Hailey wanted to hear Cassian's appreciation. He was calmly busy eating. Hailey's face fell, and with a heavy heart, she finished her breakfast and got up to keep the plate in the sink.

"Don't tease her more, look at her face," Caleb whispered to Cassian.

"You're done with your breakfast, now get out," Cassian whispered back. Caleb controlled his laughter and left to give them some privacy.

"Ahem," Hailey, who was wrapping things up, heard a voice from behind. But she didn't turn and kept doing her work. She moved to go the other way, but Cassian pulled her into a back hug.

"Leave me," Hailey murmured angrily. But Cassian tightened his grip and buried his face in the valley of her neck, starting to pepper it with kisses. Hailey tried to resist, but unknowingly, she pushed herself closer to him.

"The food was delicious," Cassian murmured between kisses, lingering at one spot on her neck. His breath was hot against her skin, sending shivers down her spine. Hailey's heart raced as she felt the intensity of his touch. His hands roamed over her waist, pulling her even tighter against him.

Cassian's kisses grew more urgent, and Hailey's resistance melted away. She could feel his heartbeat against her back, strong and steady, grounding her in the moment. His lips moved with a purpose, exploring the sensitive skin of her neck and collarbone. Each kiss felt like a promise, a silent declaration of his feelings.

Hailey's breath hitched, her fingers clenching the edge of the counter for support. Cassian's hands slid down to her hips, holding her firmly as his kisses became more intense, more insistent. Hailey's mind fogged with the overwhelming sensation, her body responding to his every touch.

Finally, Cassian paused, his lips hovering just above her skin. "Rose," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. Hailey turned slightly, meeting his gaze. The intensity in his eyes mirrored the storm of emotions swirling within her. She swallowed hard, feeling the weight of the unspoken words between them.

"I..." Hailey started, but Cassian kept a finger on her lips. He so wanted to kiss her there, but he controlled himself because she already had a wound.

"Don't say anything," he whispered, bending down to give her a chaste kiss on the forehead. Hailey closed her eyes in contentment. He kissed her cheek, letting his lips linger there for a moment before resting his forehead against hers, encircling his arms around her waist.

"I don't know what this is," Hailey exclaimed in a low tone. She didn't understand this feeling. She barely knew him, having only met him the day before. Then also, why couldn't she pull herself away from him? Why didn't his touch make her uncomfortable? Her mind was full of such queries, but she didn't have any answers.

"Whatever you think about this, I don't regret it at all," Cassian whispered, kissing her nose softly. Hailey didn't reply, just wrapped her arms around his torso and rested her head on his chest.

They stood there in silence, wrapped in each other's embrace. "I never expected to feel this way so soon," Hailey murmured against his chest, her voice barely audible.

"Sometimes, the most unexpected things are the best ones," Cassian replied, his hand gently stroking her back.

Flashback:-Hailey had come to the mall to buy a few things. As she was passing by the food court, a child approached her, beaming with excitement. "This is for you," the child said, extending a vibrant flower toward her.Hailey smiled warmly at him and accepted the flower. "Thank you! But what's this for?" she asked, genuinely curious."You are beautiful! And if you find anyone more beautiful than you, you can pass this flower to them," the child said, before dashing off, his laughter echoing through the bustling mall.Hailey chuckled at the child's innocent perspective on beauty and took a deep breath, allowing the moment to settle in. As she looked around, she noticed more children running about, joyfully giving flowers to various women in the food court.Just as she turned to leave, her eyes landed on an African woman sitting alone at a distant table. "Why did you think I would help you?" Mandisa asked coldly, her eyes never leaving Cassian's. He stood across from her, his expression unreadable, but there was a heavy tension in the air."And why can't you help us?" Cassian replied, his voice calm but firm.Mandisa raised an eyebrow. "Give me one reason to change my mind. And don't start with how you're different from the rest of the Mafia scum like Zuri, because, at the end of the day, you all live by the same rules, in the same world."Cassian sighed deeply, knowing this wouldn't be easy. He stared at the woman in front of him—the wife of Zuri, the leader of the African Mafia. It had taken nearly eight to nine months of planning and maneuvering just to get this meeting with her."We may be from the same world, but that doesn't mean we can't tell right from wrong. Your husband helped Adam Steve not too long ago—the same man who nearly destroyed my wife's soul. He didn't leave any stone untu

"Whenever you two are together disaster happens," Cassian exclaimed in a stern tone.Hailey and Caleb exchanged nervous glances before slowly stepping forward with matching puppy faces."It wasn't as bad as it sounds," Caleb tried to explain, scratching the back of his head awkwardly."Yeah, just a minor... misunderstanding," Hailey added, nodding vigorously.Cassian's glare didn't soften. He looked at both of them for a long moment before letting out a deep sigh. "You two are impossible."Hailey grinned sheepishly, ste

A soft sob escaped Hailey's mouth, but she held herself together and gently placed a bouquet on his grave. Kneeling before it, she whispered, "Dad." Her voice trembled as she continued, "What a fortunate daughter I am. For years, I thought you hated me. I was so angry at you for what I believed you did wrong, but in the end, I found out you were trying to save me. You were gone before I could realize that."Tears flowed freely down her face. "And how's that?"Hailey leaned forward slightly, her smirk widening. "Being the sister of the French Mafia Leader alone puts me above you. But..." she trailed off, letting the tension hang."Sister?" Rosina asked in a confused tone, her brows furrowed."Oh, how silly of me," Hailey said with mock surprise, slapping her forehead dramatically. "I haven't even introduced my brother properly."
