Adela stood still, watching Layson, who still looked half-asleep. She didn’t know how to respond, so she simply stayed quiet. Layson, seeing that she wasn’t going to acknowledge him, stepped further into the kitchen, his gaze falling on the eggs she had prepared.

“You made breakfast?”

“Mm.”

Adela rubbed her hands together and answered softly. Layson lifted his eyes to her, noticing the way she was acting a little strange. He wasn’t sure what she was being so shy about, but he had no idea that in his current, slightly disheveled, just-out-of-bed state, he was even more dangerously charming.

“The kids are still sleeping. You should freshen up first, then come have breakfast,” Adela said quickly, feeling her face heat up again. Without waiting for his response, she turned toward the kitchen, clearly trying to hide her discomfort.

Layson didn’t say anything, just gave a small nod before heading to the bathroom. By the time he returned, Adela was already sitting at the table, quietly eatin

Evelyn was accompanied by a woman in her thirties or forties, who was helping her push a stroller. Evelyn had recovered her figure well and was leisurely selecting fabrics.“Evelyn, what a coincidence to see you here,” Adela greeted with a smile, holding Ralph's hand as she approached Evelyn, who was dressed in a casual dress.Since their last collaboration on a fashion show, Adela and Evelyn had grown closer.“Adela, you're here too. Who is this child?”Seeing such a delicate and charming child, Evelyn's eyes were filled with affection. She crouched down and gently touched Ralph's hair. “He looks so well-behaved. Is he Mr. Norman's child?”She knew that Layson had a child, but had never seen him in person. Layson protected his child well and had never publicly revealed his appearance.Evelyn was aware that Adela had given birth to Layson's child, but since it was a private matter, she wouldn't mention it in public. Hence, she asked if the child was Layson's.Adela responded openly. A

Adela had planned to go straight back to her room for a nap, but Marah glanced over and sneered, “Adela, even if Layson has gone public with your relationship, you’re still just boyfriend and girlfriend. Don’t you think you should be more mindful of your behavior in public?”“Oh? And what exactly did I do that offended your delicate sensibilities?”Adela nearly laughed out loud. Layson himself didn’t say anything, nor did Mr. Norman or Mrs. Norman, so what gave this woman the right to lecture her? And she was just leaning on her own man in their own house—what, was that illegal now?Marah sat with perfect posture, her eyes full of disdain. “You should know that real socialites are held to high standards. The way you acted earlier? At best, it’s unrefined.”Adela rolled her eyes and decided not to engage. “I’m not a socialite,” she said lazily, and headed straight upstairs—leaving Marah fuming alone in the living room.Completely insane, she thought, shaking her head. After taking a se

Adela worried that Cici might faint from fear, so she didn't bother saying anything to Zach. She quickly pulled Cici away, using the excuse that the driver was already waiting outside. Both women were wearing flat shoes and walked briskly, soon leaving the cruise ship.Once seated in the car, Adela let out a sigh of relief. "What a morning! We haven't even had breakfast yet. Want to grab something together?"Seeing Cici shake her head, Adela didn't insist and asked Barnes to take Cici home first. After restarting the car, she casually asked, "Has Layson gone to the office?""Miss, the CEO is still at the Norman residence," Barnes replied.Adela ran her fingers through her hair. "Oh, he must be waiting for your car."She then closed her eyes to rest. Having woken up early, she felt a bit tired but didn't feel like napping again in an unfamiliar place.Back at the Norman residence, she found Layson sitting at the dining table, calmly eating breakfast. He was always expressionless, espec

Natalie handed the phone back to Adela, still curious. “Is Cici seriously that scared of Zach?”Adela nodded. “Yeah, a bit.”Cici looked pretty conflicted, so Natalie didn’t press her further. The three of them quickly drifted off to sleep. The next morning, Adela woke up still groggy. The other two were still sleeping. She pulled back the curtains, taking in the glittering ocean view, feeling unusually calm and peaceful.Suddenly, Natalie’s phone buzzed. She fumbled to answer, still half-asleep. “Dexter?”She’d asked him to call first thing so they could head back together. But his tone was tight, urgent. “Andrew’s in trouble. Come down. Now.”Natalie shot up, nearly tripping on the rug. She cursed under her breath, “Does that guy ever take a break? One day without drama and I’d die of shock.”“What happened?” Adela asked, fresh from the bathroom, just about to grab breakfast for everyone.“Andrew did something. We need to get downstairs—now.”The three of them rushed down to a lower

Zach only had one hand resting on the wall near Cici’s head—not actually blocking her way—but at that moment, Cici had already lost the ability to think clearly. Her mind even wandered to the idea of getting his autograph.Zach waited quite a while without getting a response and grew curious. He lowered his head, eyes locking onto hers, just wanting to check—was she still as scared of him as before? That fear, directed at him, felt absurd. And somehow, it bothered him more than he expected. He stared at her intently, not realizing just how close the distance between them had become—less than the length of a clenched fist.Cici could even smell the faint cologne on his body and the rich aroma of red wine on his breath. Her mind spun. Her tolerance for alcohol was low to begin with, and now she really felt like she might be drunk. In her wide, unblinking eyes, Zach didn’t see any emotion—only his own reflection. He paused. He’d always known her lashes were long, but now they were comple

Adela and the others made their way up to the deck. There weren't many people around yet, so the three of them found a good spot and started snapping pictures of the night view.Since they'd come out, Cici had been pestering Adela nonstop to help her get an autograph from her idol. Adela flat-out refused. She couldn't bring herself to do something so embarrassing, and she seriously wished she could sew Cici's mouth shut and make her forget all about it.Wanting to create a little space for Dexter and Natalie, Adela thoughtfully moved a little away from them, leaving Cici and herself leaning on the railings, sipping from straws, and whispering."If you want an autograph, you go yourself. I'm not doing it for you," Adela said, her tone firm."If I had the guts, I'd have gone already," Cici huffed. She had the heart but not the courage. When they'd first arrived, she'd spotted Zach getting off stage, and a few girls had immediately surrounded him for autographs. Her heart, which had been
