Chapter 5 Their First Meeting

LORAINE’S POV

I couldn’t help but think about Shelly’s words. I should check later to see if I received a mark, or if I was just too tired from last night, which is the reason why I felt like my back was burning.

“Damn, how come that there is no mark that is the same with the Alpha King? Is she from a different pack?” I happened to hear the guard exclaim while looking quite troubled.

Claire, the head maid, calmly answered. “I’ll use my connections to check for the other pack to see if there was someone who was wearing the same mark as this.” She said while handing the handkerchief to the guard.

The guard accepted it and let out a helpless sigh. “That would be good. I hope that I won’t die today if I report to the Alpha King that I haven’t found the woman he was looking for.”

Claire let out a heavy sigh and patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry, you won’t die. Just tell him that you will do your best in your power to find that woman who had the same mark as him.”

After a while, Anna came and wrapped her hands around my neck as she dragged me away while talking non-stop.

“Wow, we haven’t found that woman whom we should send to the Alpha King.” She said while laughing.

I don’t know if she was fearless or just a happy-go-lucky woman.

I let out a heavy sigh and was about to open my mouth, when I felt someone block my way using their foot, which made me stagger and if it wasn’t for Anna, who was wrapping her hands on my neck, for sure my face had already slammed onto the ground.

“Aiya, that was a pity. I haven’t got the chance to see someone’s face slammed on the ground.”

When I looked up, it was a group of low-level servants like me who were looking at me with m=disdain, or more like Anna and me.

Anna glared at the woman who spoke. “Chloe!”

The girl named Chloe looked at Anna and sneered. “Oh, wasn’t this Anna? Pftt… an orphan and an ugly witch… wow, a match!”

I saw Anna was about to move and probably give Chloe the taste of medicine, but I reacted fast and held her arms, preventing her from doing so.

Anna frowned and looked at me. Before she could ask, I answered, “The head maid is heading our way. Let’s not get on her radar. She’s very scary.”

Hearing me mention the head maid, Anna just frowned, but she shut up.

However, Chloe was, of course, not satisfied with my actions.

She looked at me from head to toe and let out a sneer. “You won’t survive any longer here.”

I frowned and looked at her. “Why is that?”

Chloe sneered. “Your face is pretty much the type that the Alpha King’s fiancée type to play and ruin.”

After she said that, she sneered and left, along with her friends-well, more like her servants.

Anna sighed and patted my shoulder. “Don’t mind too much about what she said. As long as you won’t get seen or get noticed by the Alpha King’s fiancée, you will be safe.”

I couldn’t help but frown as I looked at her with confusion. “Why is that? Does my face say it wants beatings?”

Anna laughed and shook her head.” It’s not that, but you’re pretty. You have fair skin, lovable doe eyes, those gem-like eyes of yours that are already precious… everything about you is perfect, and you emit such an innocent and warm aura. Anyway, just don’t deal with the Alpha King or the Alpha King’s fiancée, and you will be safe.”

Although I understand, I understand that she was worried about me.

However, how could I not deal with the Alpha King and the Alpha King’s fiancée when my mission is supposed to close with the Alpha King?

Wait a minute… I just realize it now. It seemed that Beta Kavier didn’t mention the deadline for getting close to the Alpha King.

If that’s the case-

“Ah…”

“What’s wrong?” Anna held my arms and looked at me with worry.

That's Kavier! I forgot that he could read my thoughts!

I looked at Anna and shook my head. “I-I’m fine.”

Anna frowned. “No, you’re not. Go back to your room first. I will talk to the head-maker about your situation.”

I was about to stop her, but she glared at me, leading me to comply, and I went back to my room to get a rest.

I gritted my teeth as I felt a heavy pain around my stomach, like the same as my menstruation.

Kavier!

How could you?

“I’ve sent the Alpha King to your room now.” Kavier’s voice echoed in my head, and I realize that he was speaking to me through mindlink.

However… what do you mean by sending the Alpha King to my room?!

Is he crazy? Does he want me to die early?

Kavier laughed. “Of course not. You are the precious beloved daughter of the previous Alpha King, so I have to take good care of you.”

My eyes darkened. “Shut up, I am not.”

“Well, well, keep denying it. Anyway, the Alpha King is coming to your room and don’t worry, he was in disguise, especially when we went outside for drinks, and he was already drunk, so I sent him to your doorstep.”

“Are you crazy?! Why would you send him to me?! Send him to his fiancée!” I angrily shouted at him through mind-link.

Kavier chuckled. “Open your door now, he’s here. It’s time for both of you to develop your feelings.”

“So you knew…” I coldly said.

“About what? The fact that both of you are destined for each other? If that’s so, then yes,” Kavier calmly answered.

Before I could say anything, the door was suddenly open and a tall handsome guy who had wheat-skin, appeared right in front of me. His cheeks were flushed, his thick brows were frowning, which made him look intimidating, and his ruby eyes glimpsed as he walked towards my bed- or more like my direction.

Kavier, help! I’m going to be eaten.

“Enjoy. Cultivate your feelings towards him. I’m going to check his documents and see if there’s a way for me to destroy his plans on conquering the Moonlight Pack.” After that, Kavier cut off his mind-link.

Before I could curse, I felt a finger grasp my chin and lifted it.

“Who are you?” He coldly asked as he looked at me in the eyes.

My heart throbbed, and I felt my back burning.

He looked at me for a while, and then I saw him leaned closer to my neck.

I felt all my hair rise and couldn’t help but back away.

Seeing my actions, he frowned, and his hand grabbed my waist tightly like he was going to smash my bones if I dared to struggle.

“So you are my mate, huh?”

Suddenly, I felt warm hands wrapped tightly around my neck, making me feel breathless.

I tried to struggle and push him away, but he wouldn't budge.

“What do you think you're planning to do with me, huh?” He strengthened the force on his hand that was on my neck.

I felt my head buzz and my eyes blurred.

Is he planning to kill me?
