Chapter 4

Author: Ink the Seventh
"Welcome home, madam," the butler Alfred Rogers greeted Sierra as always.

John and Pamela both looked over. Pamela hesitated, then greeted her, "Sierra."

Sierra didn't even glance at her as she headed straight upstairs. She was afraid that if she looked, she wouldn't be able to stop herself from lashing out.

"Pamela just said hello. Didn't you hear her?" John's voice was cold and distant. "Or have you always been this rude, Ms. Bell?"

Sierra stopped in her tracks.

Ms. Bell?

She turned to look at them, and the words came out sharp. "You're already cheating in our home, and you still expect me to be polite?"

"This is my house. I'll do as I please," John replied calmly. "If you don't like it, move out."

Sierra clenched her hands at her sides.

Even though she knew his heart was no longer with her, hearing such cruel words still felt like a knife stabbing her in the chest.

He was the one who had told her this was her home. What belonged to him also belonged to her.

"John, Sierra is still your wife. Isn't that a bit much?" Pamela tried to mediate.

"I gave her a chance. She's the one who refused it," John replied, looking straight at Sierra.

She looked right back at him.

Neither was willing to back down.

"Sierra, why don't you apologize? If you do, John will surely forgive you," Pamela said softly, fanning the flames without making it look overt.

"It's fine. I'm going to move out without your say-so anyway," Sierra replied, her stubbornness on full display. She ignored Pamela completely. "I can't stand to stay one more second in a place that reeks of scumbags and homewreckers. It's going to make me puke."

She turned and headed upstairs, as if afraid something disgusting might catch up with her.

Bang!

She slammed the door.

Inside Sierra's room, she grabbed her suitcase and started packing right away. She knew this was just John trying to provoke her, but she couldn't stand it any longer.

After packing all her important documents, she went to the walk-in closet.

Staring at all the clothes, handbags, and jewelry, she paused for a moment. Then, she headed straight for the jewelry.

She needed money, and selling those things was the quickest way to get some.

But before she could gather everything, John and Pamela walked in.

"Sierra, how can you treat such expensive jewelry so indifferently?" Pamela's eyes were full of envy as she looked at the countless limited-edition and custom pieces. "Are you planning to sell them?"

Sierra didn't bother hiding her attitude. "None of your business."

Pamela glanced at John before continuing, "But these are all gifts from John. How can you just sell them?"

"Stay out of this," Sierra snapped. She wasn't gentle at all when she was angry.

Finally, John spoke up. "I didn't think you were the type to steal jewelry."

Sierra's hand froze mid-air.

Steal?

"If I called the police, how many years will the sentencing be?" John stared at her.

"First of all, we're not even officially divorced yet. Second, you gave these to me, so how is it stealing?" Sierra shot back.

John took a step closer, his gentle tone hiding sharp words. "How can you prove these were gifts and not just part of my collection?"

Sierra was stunned.

And at that moment, she understood. He would never let her take anything from here. He was determined to cut off all her options.

"If you want to take them, I won't stop you. But once the divorce is finalized, I'll call the police and report a theft," John said coldly, leaving no room for compromise.

Sierra was so startled by his sudden move that, for a split second, she truly thought she might fall from the twenty-eighth floor. Before she could react, he yanked her from the window ledge and tossed her back onto the bathroom floor. She steadied herself, barely managing to keep from collapsing."If you really don't want to, I won't force you," Kenneth said as he turned off the shower, a complicated look on his face as he kept up the act. "Why risk something so dangerous?""How do I know you won't force me?" Sierra's heart was still pounding. She shot a wary look at John. "You're already capable of this much, so forcing me to sleep with him would be nothing."Kenneth was speechless. He glanced over at John. Surely, they could end the act now?"If I really wanted him to do something to you, do you think you'd still be standing here unharmed?" John stepped toward her, his height exuding pressure. Sierra shrank back instinctively as she was starting to fear him.And then, in a

While Sierra was still trying to figure out what John meant, he took out his phone and made a call right in front of her. "Didn't you say you liked this sort of thing? She's in the room. She's all yours.""What are you doing?" Sierra was suddenly seized by a sense of dread."Didn't you just say you would rather it be anyone but me?" John put away his phone and looked at her again, his expression was returning to icy indifference, no hint of affection left. "I'm just giving you what you want."Sierra's heart plummeted.Seeing her fear return, only then did some of the coldness in John's eyes seem to fade.Sierra's hands and feet went cold as she frantically scanned the room, searching for anything to defend herself or escape with. There was nothing she could use. No weapons, no way out.Soon, footsteps sounded in the hallway. The suite door opened from the outside, and in came Kenneth, who had just left a moment ago."She's all yours," John said, glancing at the pale-faced Sierra

"If you're recovered, then let's continue," John said, ignoring her feelings. He unbuttoned his suit jacket right in front of her, tossing it aside without care.Sierra instinctively shrank back, looking at John with alertness. "What are you doing?""What do you think a man and woman do in a bedroom and on a bed?" John moved closer, his tall figure almost overwhelming her.Sierra could only try to run, but the whole suite was locked. There was nowhere to escape."You already have Pamela, right? Why are you still holding on to me?" Sierra asked, trapped against the wall from the bed, unable to retreat any further."You're mistaken about something," John said, as if he was doing her a favor by clarifying. There was still anger in Sierra's eyes."It's not me who keeps holding on. It's you who always manages to end up in front of me," John said, cornering her step by step with a cold expression. "You came to a hotel to sell a ring. You should have known this could happen.""If I ha

"You said it yourself. I'm crazy," John replied calmly."Wait, you're serious?" Kenneth didn't expect that John was that kind of person. "If you're going to be like this, don't ever ask me for help again! Playing the bad guy and the scapegoat is more than I signed up for."John just gave him a cool look. "Coward."Kenneth was speechless. If this guy weren't his best friend, he would have tossed him out the window right now!"Take your people downstairs," John said, thinking of the woman probably already in tears next door. His gaze darkened. "No one's allowed up here unless I say so.""Yeah, yeah, we won't bother you," Kenneth shot back sarcastically, but gave one last warning. "Just don't go overboard. She genuinely looks scared."John gave him a sideways look.Kenneth threw up his hands. "Fine, fine. I'm gone, alright? I'm gone."He didn't linger, quickly leaving with his guards and assistant. Only when the elevator doors closed did John slowly make his way to the room where

Sierra looked toward where the voice was coming from.Kenneth wore a perfectly tailored suit. His expression was gentle and sunny, and he wore an apologetic smile. When he looked at her, his gaze was warm and friendly, making him seem approachable despite the situation."My apologies for my bodyguards' rudeness, Ms. Bell. Please don't take it to heart," Kenneth said, walking in and taking a seat. He then poured her a cup of coffee. "Come, sit. Let's discuss the ring.""I don't want to sell it anymore," Sierra said, glancing at her phone that was still without any signal, hoping for a way out."I hope you'll reconsider," Kenneth replied, sliding the tea toward her. "If it's because I was late or my guards were rude, I can make it up to you.""It's not that. I just suddenly want to keep it for the memory," Sierra said.Kenneth rubbed the cup between his fingers, his demeanor suddenly shifting. "Is that so?"Sierra nodded. "Yes.""Then you may not really understand me," Kenneth sa

"What are you doing?""Pick one," Jason said, glancing at her message list and noticing the pinned contact named "Partner in Crime". Seeing the two unread messages, he calmly shifted the phone to delete the messages. He knew that contact was Sierra.Holly was confused. She didn't notice what he just did. "Pick what?""Me or your phone?" he said, not letting her catch on."That's easy. My phone, obviously." Holly grabbed her phone back. "If I picked you, who knows what your little girlfriends would say behind my back."Jason said nothing.Holly didn't care about his love life as long as nobody bothered her. "If there's nothing important, I'm leaving.""Wait." Remembering a certain someone's warning, Jason tried to keep her there longer. "Did you know Sierra and John are getting divorced?""Yeah, what about it?" Holly replied casually."Try not to get too involved with her right now," Jason w
