When John said that, Sierra shook for a moment.

Right then, she finally saw him for who he was. She realized that ever since they had filed for divorce, they were nothing but strangers.

The heaviness in her chest suddenly disappeared without a trace.

She reset her expression, her voice becoming distant suddenly. "I'm not anyone important, but if you'd just returned my things from the start, none of this would've happened."

"It's just a suitcase. Do you really think John would want your things?" Pamela chimed in, defending John.

"He wouldn't," Sierra replied. When she looked at the two of them, there was no more anger or pain in her eyes, as if she had drained all her emotions from herself at once. "But I don't want my suitcase getting contaminated in this place."

John's eyes darkened.

Sierra's tone stayed flat. "Just give me my things, and I'll leave."

She had finally let go—let go of John's sudden indifference and accept that he was now devoted to someone else.
