This is the last time you're reading Claire's POV 🙂
425"M-my belly... It's... Paining. It's paining. Ahhh!" She clutched her midsection as fright gripped Hunter. His eyes raked over her face and belly dreadfully. He was thinking what to do and what not to when he noticed— The blood between her legs. Hunter's body froze. His face went numb as he watched what was just a small red dot turn to a soaking wet patch between her thighs. Since she was wearing light pink trousers with a floral pink top, the blood looked redder than it should on the light fabric. Claire touched a hand down in her nether regions before Hunter could stop her. When she saw the blood on her fingers, her eyes widened. "H-hunter... M-my baby... I am bleeding... My baby is b-bleeding... Bleeding out of me again. My baby..." "Not this time. Nothing will happen to you both. I promise." Hunter quickly but carefully scooped her up in his arms. "M-my baby... I'm losing it. The doctor has said I'm weak. She told me that m-my body... My body is weak. It can't keep the ba
424As Hunter stopped before them with a smile of farewell, Fred insisted, "Let us come with you, sir. Please." "You guys have families here. You can't leave them behind. As for me..." Hunter chuckled. "I have no one. No reason to stay back." He shook hands and hugged each one of them like he would hug Cole or Rashid. "I'll miss you guys. You'll get your farewell bonus soon. There's another surprise for you which you will get after my departure." Hunter said. He had planned to give each one of them a penthouse in one of the best and posh areas in Bloomcrest beside a hefty compensation for their services. Then with a final nod of acknowledgement, Hunter sat inside his car. He was supposed to go to the airport. Instead he turned the car to the road that took him to the cemetery. He met his parents for the last time, spoke with them, and cried without holding back. Then he went to meet Reggie. Hunter apologized to him, and assured Reggie that he had his sister and girlfriend taken c
423Tyler paced restlessly in his cabin after Hunter left. He was thrown off balance by Hunter. He was leaving. No, he was leaving forever.Tyler pressed his palms to his face as he sighed nervously."Jesus, I can't believe this. Hunter is going. Does Claire know? Of course, she does. Hunter just said that they are taking their separate ways." Tyler stopped moving. "Wait! Hunter lied. I'm sure he did. He would never leave if he knew about the baby."Tyler started moving again, "Claire is pregnant. She's been waiting for Hunter to get done with Zara so she could tell him about their baby. He definitely lied!""I need to tell Claire before he leaves." Tyler heaved and grabbed his phone from his desk.He tried Claire's number three times, and each time it went unanswered."Must be busy." Tyler thought. He had a meeting in fifteen minutes. "I'll talk to her after the meeting."He decided to go back to reading the reports that were going to be discussed in the meeting. His mind was misted
422Hunter's POV The decision I was going to make today was going to change both our lives. Tyler observed patiently as I opened the file to the last page of the agreement I had in it. With a wistful glance taken towards the papers, I placed it down on the desk and slid it towards Tyler. He wordlessly lifted the file and turned the pages to the first one. He sat there frozen as if his mind went blank. After a minute of shock, he looked up at me. "You're joking, right? You can't be serious about this." "I am." I replied without a blink. "No. This is... I can't do this." Tyler dropped the file and slid it back towards me. "What's the problem? Why can't you?" I leaned on the desk threateningly as I scowled. Tyler just shook his head, "When you called and said you want to meet me, I thought it's to do with therapies. This is—" "Therapies?" I cut in with a mock laughter. "Who do you think I am— a mentally ill widowed wife? Why would I need therapies? Oh, is it because of what happe
421 Hunter's POVI observed the tears running down Claire's pale face. I was stunned to see her crying over a house that gave her nothing but pain since the very beginning. Our marriage was a distraction for me. I proposed and got married to her to forget Zara. More than that, I did it to get my parents off my back. They had been pestering me persistently after Zara left to settle down and I didn't want to do it with just any random woman of their choice. It was about my life, my future; I wanted to be the one choosing my bride. That's why I chose Claire. I always knew about her secret obsession towards me.I used her for my benefit. The marriage was nothing but a sham. But still I brought her to my mansion— my first ever solid property that I purchased with my hard earned money that I had been saving to buy my dream house.Though I designed and maintained the historic mansion according to my expectations, there was nothing dreamy about it. It was just a beautiful cage. A cage wher
420Claire's POVI was sitting in my room in bed with a glass of orange juice. I haven't been feeling well or like eating anything. The time I spent in the dungeons beneath Hunter's house, and the oppression I endured in Caine's hands had been troubling me. I get nightmares. It's been a week since Hunter brought Zara over; and it's like my mind has fallen deeper into harassing me. My nightmares have become violent. I see ourselves tied again. I see Hunter soaking wet in his own blood, tied in the chair with chains again. Lots of deep cuts on his body. Cuts that can kill anyone. But he's somehow alive and in there with me as we both face Zara and Caine's oppressions. Shudders course through me when I think about my own condition from my nightmares. I have... I have my belly cut open! Yeah, that's what I've been seeing. I see my belly open and blood coming out in streams. I see myself laying in a pool of my own blood while Zara's tossing my still-developing fetus around. She laughs a
