Chapter Twenty-Three – In the Strabge Land

Nora’s POV

The night air felt heavy as we walked away from the gates. My legs moved, but my heart felt broken. Each step I took seemed to echo the truth that I had destroyed his life. I kept looking back, hoping his parents would call us, hoping they would open the gate and let us in. But no one came. The silence was louder than any words.

I stopped walking and turned to him. His face was calm, but I could see the storm in his eyes. “Axel… please,” I whispered, my voice shaking. “Go back. Don’t do this for me. They are your parents. Your people. Your home. You shouldn’t throw all of that away just because of me.”

He looked at me, strong and steady. “Nora,” he said softly but firmly, “if you are not allowed to enter, then I will not enter. If you are pushed out, then I will stand with you. No matter where we are—palace or forest—I will be with you.”
