ERIC’S POV.
I quickly followed Sandra’s gaze and met a shocker....
There were many gifts as people kept on saying how much they loved and wished that our relationship lasts forever.....
I was shocked to my bone marrows and also noticed that she was staring at me weirdly.
“Still wanna go ahead with the rejection,” She muttered in my left ear, and I glanced at her with a look of ‘nothing is ever going to make me change my mind,’
She sighed and faced her front—but then, my wolf was the issue now!
It was still feeling the mate bond, as it kept on disturbing me about it.
“She’s your mate! Accept it Eric,” It said, and I frowned deeply as I tried my best to control my fury that instant.
“Leave me alone,” I muttered to myself quietly, making sure no one suspected what was going on that moment.
Still, my wolf didn’t want to calm down confusing me the more!
I knew instantly that it was because she hasn’t acknowledged the rejection yet, that’s why my wolf was still feeling the mate bond.
After I made sure that I had finished with my role in the event—I pulled Sandra out roughly upstairs—towards a secluded place.
“Stop pulling me roughly,” She screamed and tried to release herself with her second hand—but I released her immediately I got satisfied of the place we were suddenly in.
It was secluded enough.
“What do you want again?” She questioned angrily, her eyes blazing with fury.
“You refused to be my mate—you also rejected me—and now you’re also pulling me to a secluded place, even roughly,” She barked angrily, shocking me to my bones.
Could this be the same girl I saw carrying the gift box—a heavy one for that matter?
“Wasn’t she a slave?”
“Does a slave talk back to a king,” I wondered, but this time loud enough for her to hear—causing her eyes to widen in shock.
I could sue her Alpha for lying and fixing my marriage with a slave—with the lie that she was his daughter.
“Slave..” She muttered in shock, but that wasn’t what I came there for.
“It’s time you acknowledge the rejection,” I said, and I noticed she creased her brows in shock.
“What?”
“Reject me!” I said, but she shook her head vehemently.
“I can’t.....I really can’t bring myself to reject you,” She said, but I glared at her angrily.
“You must!”
She breathed deeply and walked towards a vacant seat at my right—and sat down absentmindedly.
“What did I do to you Eric?....” She started as she stared at me deeply—
“Like what have I ever done to deserve this kind of treatment from you?” She asked me but I couldn’t answer until she stood up and kicked the chair which she had sat on really hard.
“You are so weak and I’d never want a weak mate by my side,” I stated, but quickly added.
“Still, I’m giving you the right to remain by my side except for the fact that there’d be no feelings attached,” I said but she just couldn’t hear of it.
“Don’t make me change my mind, do it now that I’m still nice,”
“Reject me now Sandra!” I said with a note of finality.
Sandra walked towards me, as she sniffed in her tears....
“I Sandra.......” She paused as she tried hard to contain the pain she felt that moment.....
I also felt uneasy that moment because I could feel her pain somehow—and my wolf wasn’t helping matters and that was why I wanted her to reject me instantly....
“I Sandra Mackenzie....rejects you Eric Axel as my mate;” She said and I suddenly felt relieved—but she fell down and started crying loudly.
“I hope you get over this soon—we’ll be waiting for you as we also have a party to celebrate in the Lycan’s groove tonight....” I stated and walked out, heading downstairs.
The ceremony was over just as I had thought, so it was time for us to return to our groove—but the problem was if she was ready that moment but I decided within myself to wait for her until she had gotten herself.
Suddenly, I sighted a figure alighting the stairs until it became clearer and clearer till I knew that it was Sandra.
“Let’s go,” She said and entered the car—
It wasn’t obvious that she was in pain—but she tried really well to mask up her pain that moment.
The drive was short and awkward, but I felt at ease the moment I got to my groove.
Everyone at the mansion was waiting outside and a slight smile appeared on my lips when I sighted my mother.
Slowly I became aware on how she must have been up all day waiting for me to come back with my wife and show her.
“Mother,” I smiled widely when I sighted my mum...
After hugging her, my mum eyes became locked at a particular direction behind me only for me to turn and find out that she was staring at Sandra excitedly.
“That’s my mother,” I whispered in her ear making her nod in awareness of that fact.
She quickly left my side and went to greet my mother—
I was shocked on how happy my mum seemed when she greeted her making her welcome her ecstatically—and I bet that they’d end up being close friends.
We all walked into the mansion to see the party that was thrown for us—
Of course, I was tired but it was a must that I was to attend the party they prepared for I and Sandra.
“Eric,” My mum called me fondly, making me smile excitedly.
“Yes,”
“Promise me that you’ll always love and cherish your wife,” She said, staring at me deeply.
Lying to my mum was the biggest offense to me and it’s also something I can never do—
I became worried on what to tell her—and also how to discard the topic when we heard a voice behind us.
SANDRA’S POV. “Mum,” I called her and she turned around excitedly, flashing me a beautiful smile. That was the least I could do for this grumpy fellow that called himself my husband. I was sure that I saw him breath in relief, but still—he didn’t even thank me when it was very obvious that he was grateful. “My daughter,” His mum said, and held my hand—pulling me out along with her. She loved me, and it was very evident in her eyes making me excited. She was the only one that I could vouch for loved me in that groove—because I noticed some weird look on the faces of other people when they saw me. But still—I heard my mother-in-law say “You’re the best bride for my son,” She said, making me turn to have a look at her shockingly. “You think I’m the best bride for Eric?” I asked with a creased brow and she chuckled slightly. “I know that you are,” She said, making me slightly emotional. I engulfed her in a tight hug, as my mind drifted to what happened at the engagement ceremony
SANDRA’S POV. It was painful!I was broken and hurt! How could he just act like nothing happened?“We both had sex and he left me like that, after shooting me a cold glare?” I wondered in surprise before hissing slightly. I had a little hope left in me after we had sex but everything disappeared as soon as he exhibited his character. I became hopeless once again!“Why?” I just couldn’t help but ask myself....His act just destroyed my hope of rekindling our relationship, and make him fall in love with me. But then—it wasn’t possible! There was no way that I’ll be comfortable in a house like that, and I suddenly got an Idea. The thought of running away! That was the only thing that bothered me that instant—as I became confused on how I’d run away without anyone noticing anything. “Where would I go?”“Who do I know?” “How do I escape?”These were the only questions that bothered me deeply, and still—I couldn’t find any answers to this...The only thing I knew was that I just had
SANDRA POV"Congratulations, ma'am! You're having twins." Another nurse who was watching me cheered, confirming the words that were already ringing inside my ears. She kept talking, but her words slowly faded as my breath hitched. My vision began to blur, and my head started aching."Ma'am, are you okay?" she asked as her hands found their way to my arm.But my mind had left my body. The big question popped into my head. How could I be pregnant? It was not even possible. And then my eyes flickered with realization. That night with Eric— that was the only explanation I could give myself because he was the only man I had ever been intimate with."What am I going to do?" I gritted my teeth in pain as my hand grabbed my shirt."Calm down, miss," the nurse urged with a smile. After I left the hospital, I went back home to Claire's house. She was my best friend, and I was really grateful she didn't abandon me at a time like this.As the door clicked open, Claire pulled me into a hug as she
SANDRA POV"Dad..." My hands quickly moved to muffle the sound inside his mouth before he could speak another word.I could feel all eyes on me, but I didn’t dare raise my gaze to them. Thankfully, my back was to Eric, so he couldn't see my face."Keep it down, Hayden. That's not your dad, okay?" I hushed him, and his shoulders slumped. His lips parted, ready to argue, but I stepped in quickly."Sweetheart, that's not your dad. Why don't you stay here and be a good boy while Mommy goes to get you some ice cream?"Hayden nodded, and I sighed in relief. I was glad that problem was solved.I turned over to get the order. My throat felt dry, and my legs started to feel heavy because I could feel his gaze burning into my back—or was I just overthinking?"I'll take a—""Isn't that your kid going over to another table?"Granny, the owner of the diner, strained her eyes, and my heart sank. That boy wouldn’t.All the words I wanted to say left my throat instantly when I saw Hayden sneaking up
SANDRA'S POVI couldn't believe Mrs. Axel, my former mother-in-law, was here. How did she find me? It was obvious that Eric had run his mouth, and now she was here."My child, how have you been all these years?" she asked, the emotions dripping from her voice.I thought she was going to scold me for running away all these years, but she didn't. Rather, she looked really happy to see me."I've... I've been fine..." I stuttered as I felt tears filling up my eyes.Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think that I would see her because when I left, I swore I was never coming back."You unfilial child, won't you hug your mother?" Mrs. Axel broke into tears, and I quickly hugged her.Being with her made me a little bit at ease because a lot of things were not making sense to me. But the moment her hand wrapped around my body, I felt like a heavy burden had been lifted from my shoulders."I missed you so much," I said softly, not even knowing when the words slipped out."If you missed
Sandra's POV"He didn’t tell me exactly, but I knew he was. No matter how many times I tried to set him up with another lady, he would always come up with excuses," Mrs. Axel clicked her tongue. For some reason, my heart dropped. "You tried to set him up with other ladies?" I asked curiously."That was because I was testing him, but he wouldn't dare admit he was missing you," Mrs. Axel shook her head."Honestly, we both thought something must have happened to you and you died because after searching for so long, there was no news."My heart ached just thinking about how she must have felt, but that didn't stop me from wondering if what she said was true or if she was just bluffing. If there was something I knew about Mrs. Axel, it was that she had a very creative imagination.I didn't want to get my hopes up.Then I slapped myself inwardly. Why would I be getting my hopes up? There was no future between Eric and me then, or even now."I'm really sorry, Mother, but with everything that
Sandra's POVI noticed the woman by his side was Susan, and I couldn't help but frown. The moment she caught sight of me, her smile faltered for a moment.I couldn't tell if it was shock or something else."My goodness, Sandra, is that you?" she mumbled, her eyes filled with a stern gaze as if she was unwilling to believe what was already standing in front of her eyes."Good day, Miss," I greeted warmly, trying not to sound too formal. When I ran away, I left that life behind, so what was the point of reminiscing about the past?Clarie noticed something was off as we both dropped to her side. She leaned in closely, her voice coming in a soft whisper."What's up? Are you okay?"I nodded, taking a deep breath. I let Clarie handle the discussion with Eric. I didn't want to get involved, and I made sure to keep our conversation as brief as possible."Thank you so much for your time," Clarie said as we both stood up.The meeting had been finalized, and he offered to give us the contract. I
Hayden was not saying anything, and it only made me realize that my son was lying. But I didn’t want to make him feel bad.Whatever he was hiding, I had my ways to find out—and I would.“Mom, can we go now? I’m starving,” Hayley groaned from inside the car.She was already seated inside with Clarie.“Come on, Hayden, let’s go.” I smiled, stretching out my palm to my son, and he took it gladly.“Okay, Mummy,” Hayden mumbled. After we got home, the day ran by really fast, and when I checked the clock, it was already past eight. Now, it was time to put my little plan into action.Thankfully, the kids were already asleep. My feet met the earth as I stood up, snatching my black robe from the corner, and I slipped out of my room.“No, I shouldn’t be invading my son’s privacy,” I halted halfway, my hand curling into a fist. Then I shook my head with determination.“He’s just five. What does he know about privacy?” I clicked my tongue in disapproval and marched out.I didn’t know why I starte
Susan's POVI was sitting in my room, doing my nails when a call came in. I checked the caller ID of the number. It was Luke. I wondered why he was calling. After our last meeting, I didn't expect any calls from him for a while so I was surprised when I saw the call. I picked it up. “ You were supposed to lay low for the time being and not cause any problems no matter how pained you are. You were supposed to sit down in your freaking house and do nothing. You were supposed to work on the future plans. There were better plans which when well developed would cause more destruction than the little stones you throw daily". I could tell he was very angry. Anger was an understatement though. He was furious. For what reason though ? I couldn't tell. He had just called and started ranting about what I didn't know about.“ Woah, woah, woah. Calm down big guy. What's making you so mad because I literally have no idea what you're talking about". “ You have no idea, really ?",he asked.“Yeah, I
Sandra's POVI had woken up exactly thirty minutes after I had fallen asleep. I went to the bathroom and had a quick shower and cleaned up. Afterwards, I wore a simple sundress, fixed my hair in a ponytail and wore the hospital flip flops. I sat on the bed waiting for Eric. The discharge process wouldn't take much time and in a little while, I would be on my way home to see my little bundles of joy...I had waited for almost an hour and Eric had not yet come. I decided to take a walk. I picked up a piece of paper and wrote a short note telling him I was going to take a walk and where I would be. I placed the note on my bags and left the room. The hospital was very quiet unlike it's usual noisy atmosphere. I decided to take the stairs instead of the usual lift. Walking a little wouldn't hurt. I realized I had made the wrong decision choosing to go down using the stairs. I laughed at myself as I sat on the stairs to take a rest. I continued my journey a few minutes after and it didn't
Sandra's POVI was getting discharged today. The doctors had confirmed that I was healing quickly and very well. It had been three weeks since the incident. I hadn't seen Hayden and Hadley for these three weeks. Claire couldn't also come because she was staying with the kids. Eric had told her to not let the kids out of her sight. She was also with Mrs Axel. They were not in the palace though. Eric thought it was safer to keep everyone away from the house in case of any other attacks. Eric had not let me out of his sight ever since I woke up. He was keeping a close eye on me. He would follow me even when I went to take a bath or take a walk. It was like he was suspicious of me. But why though? I was very sure I didn't leave any clues when executing my plans and I had made Claire swear that she would not let anyone know about the plan. Not even Eric.I could not tell Eric of the plan. He would never allow me do it and it would be worse if I told him now, after taking action already.
Susan's POVI was sitting in my room, doing my nails when a call came in. I checked the caller ID of the number. It was Luke. I wondered why he was calling. Sandra's POVI opened my eyes and shut it immediately as I adjusted to the bright light in the room. I tried sitting up but I felt trapped, like something was holding me down. I kept trying to no avail. I got tired and started slipping into the darkness again. I struggled to stay awake but it was just too much. I gave in and let the darkness take me.I was drifting between consciousness and unconsciousness. Sometimes I'd hear voices around me and sometimes, it was just silent. I'd try to sit up each time but I never succeeded. It was getting frustrating each time. I was worried, my mind kept going to my kids, Eric and Claire. I tried remembering what had happened but each time I tried, my head ached so badly and I'd force myself to go back to sleep. It was pure torture. Sometimes, the memories of what happened came in blue and by the time I woke up, I couldn't remember a thing.* * * * * * * * I opened my eyes and this time, the lighting in the room was just perfect. I moved my legs
Eric's POV I rushed home to meet the citizens of Lycan Groove outside the palace. Sandra was on a makeshift podium and Claire stood beside her. I hurried to meet her to stop her from doing what she planned. “Never", I heard her say in a very firm voice. “Talk all you want"......Her voice was drowned out by murmurs around me. I surged forward, my eyes still on her. She noticed me and gave me a small smile. I felt more at ease but I continued moving towards her. She ended her speech and waited for any comments from the citizens. No comment. Better, they had better not make any derogatory remarks else I'd make sure whoever made such remark paid dearly either with their lives or more. She swayed a little and Claire hurriedly handed her a bottle of water which she drank quickly. There were still no comments from anyone, they all stood like they were frozen in place. She had started leaving when someone called her attention “Excuse me", a voice called out from the crowd. She turned around
Eric's POV I was still very angry when I got to my office. How could they? How dare they think so little of her ? After everything she'd done. I was very disappointed in every single member of the Council, from the ones who brought up the idea, the ones who had let the enemy mess with their reasoning, the ones who had been silent throughout, not supporting, playing neutral, afraid they'd offend whoever was backing the opposers. Once this was over, I'd make sure to change each and every single member of my Council. Maybe the elders weren't needed to make decisions anymore since they'd the devil mess with them so easily. * * * * * * * * * “Sir, there's a problem. The Luna, she's gathering everyone", one of my guards reported.I wondered what Sandra was up to this time as I hurriedly packed up my things. I had this eerie feeling that everything was going to fall apart soon. My head throbbed as I tried calming myself. It'd better not be what I'm thinking. Sandra wouldn't take such dras
Susan's POVI had been in this room for almost a week, never stepping foot out even once. I looked around me, empty beer and wine bottles strewn around. I walked to the light switch and flicked it on, shielding my eyes as bright light flooded the room. My head was pounding fiercely thanks to all the alcohol. I opened the window curtains and looked out the glass window. I stumbled to the mirror and took a good look at myself. I was a mess, my hair looked like a bird's nest, dark circles were underneath my eye and old smudged make-up was still on my face. My face screamed for help as dark spots and acne that hadn't been on my face took up significant space on my face. I reeked of alcohol and so did the room. I picked up my phone and tried turning it on. Shit. It was off. How would I get to my sources now!!I opened my room door as fresh air streamed in.. I walked to the kitchen to find the cook preparing breakfast. “Get someone to prepare my bath ASAP", I ordered. He nodded and hurried
Eric's POVI had gone to the my office after talking to Sandra this morning. I could see that she was badly hurting but she didn't want to accept the fact. She kept saying that I shouldn't help but I couldn't just sit still and watch them tear her down. I knew that she was very strong but this was too much for her. The pain in her eyes, the way she trembled whenever I talked about helping, like she was scared I'd get hurt in the process. Although I didn't know what way Susan would strike, I talked with my Beta on strengthening the security around the castle. I also made arrangements for secret guards for my kids, Sandra and my mother. My mother was supposed to be supportive of Sandra, helping her out and giving her solutions to most of the problems but she kept acting nonchalant and I didn't appreciate that at all. She was the one who chose Sandra for me, so she was supposed to have a soft spot for her at least. She had no right to compare her to that sly snake, Susan. She knew what S
