Alpha Kael's POV
Aria has no idea that Maria told me about the altercation with Omari. I never liked the way he treated Omegas in his pack as filth.
I need to get his filthy claws far from my mate.
“That would be all,” I say. The piercing silence is replaced with a chorus of “Yes Alpha.”
“Meet me in my office after breakfast,” I mindlink my Beta, Aldin.
“Yes, Alpha,” He replies. His usual playful demeanour is replaced by a serious one. He knows when I mean business and is an extremely efficient Beta, though I won't tell him that to his face.
“Can I see you later, Babe,” Jessica's high pitched voice fills my mind.
“No, and if you value your position in the pack you will keep your distance.”
Thankfully, I am able to enjoy the rest of my breakfast in peace.

A loud knock distracts me from the stack of papers I am working on, on my office table.
“Come in.” I say in response and my Beta pushes the door strolling in as if he owns the place.
“You asked me to come, Alpha, is anything wrong?” He gives me a curious gaze.
“Yes, I'd like you to keep an eye on Omari, he seems to be bullying pack members.” Aldin's eyes widen in shock, “His entire presence irks me,” I finish.
“You've never been a huge fan of his since when we were kids,” Aldin finally says. “He gives me the creeps, like there's something wrong about him.”
“Same old friend, please do me this favour, the safety of my mate is at stake here,” I say my voice laced with worry.
“Yes, Alpha,” he then gives me an intense gaze, “What's your take on the Luna Trials?”
“It'll hold in a month's time, I wish there was a way around it but this is needed,” I answer.
“She has done something to you,” Aldin says. “You were never like this, not even with Margaret.”
To my surprise my wolf Alec, who has barely said much since Margaret's death, grunts in response. “I've never felt this sort of strong bond with our first mate,” Alec states at the back of my mind, “I can even feel her emotions, though we are yet to mark her.” He then goes silent.
“Is that Alec?” My Beta asks.
“Yes, it is”
“What a pleasant surprise, anyways don't you think announcing her officially as your Luna will protect her within the pack at least.”
“I thought about that but I need to place certain things in order, so that it wouldn't backfire especially now that the rogues are gaining ground in most packs.” I say.
“Alright that's okay, I'll do as you've said but keep in mind that Jessica is spreading rumors that is creating a bad reputation for your mate.”
“I'll do something about it, how are the preparations for tonight?” I ask with a curious gaze.
A smile plays on his lips, “You know how our she-wolves enjoy events, so far they've been running everything smoothly.”
I release a chuckle, “Well, that'll be all then.”
“Have fun, princess,” he teases, getting up and walking out. My eyes go back to the paperwork in front of me.
“Alpha Omari, are you here to see the Alpha?” Aldin's once teasing tone turns cold.
“Yes,” Omari answers in a clipped tone.
Aldin assesses him for a while then asks though the mindlink, “Should I let him in, Alpha?”
“Yes.”
“You know I'll gladly get rid of him,” He says in a dark tone.
“Let him in, Aldin.”
He gives him one last look before stepping aside so he can come through. Aldin then shuts the door but I can still feel his presence close, he hasn't left yet.
Omari reaches my desk, “Have a seat.” He then plops on the chair in front of me.
“How may I help you, Alpha?” I ask with a stern voice.
“I didn't think you would agree to my opinion on merging the packs, you were not too keen to accept.”
A scowl appears on my face, how dare he!!!
“So what's your point, Omari?” I say dropping any form of courtesy.
“Is it because of your latest side piece, Aria?” He taunts, “I never thought you would stoop so low and sleep with a low-life……
My canines and snout protrude almost instantly and my fingers and nails elongate in seconds. My fingers wrap tightly around his throat, slamming his back against the wall repeatedly. My eyes are seeing red, no one dares to insult my mate. I have been patient enough with this low life.
“You will respect her, I never want to hear her name come out from your filthy mouth, else you'll lose your head,” Alec speaks with a deep, authoritative voice. Rage pulses in my veins.
His attempts to pull me off are futile, he is strong even for an Alpha. But, I'm a Lycan from one of the original bloodlines, he doesn't stand a chance.
The door bursts open and I sense my Beta behind me.
“Alpha, he's not worth it,” he mutters soothingly, aiming to calm me down.
I let out a grunt and apply more pressure, no one disrespects my mate.
“Please, Kael, Aria won't like to see you like this.”
I freeze completely, taking back a bit of control from Alec.
“You called her here?” I ask in annoyance, still partially shifted.
“Kael, what's wrong are you okay?” My mate's ethereal voice fills my ears. She peeps into the office.
“Get him out of my sight,” I ordered. I barely paid attention to him picking up the barely conscious Omari.
My eyes meet hers, I'm so certain she'll make a run for it. She always makes me feel like I'm the best thing to look at. Even now she approaches me slowly with parted lips. I'm yet to tell if it is admiration or fear.
Her fingers graze my face, the scars I have in my human form are also visible in my Lycan form.
My wolf whines at her touch, she then lets out an adorable giggle. “You're so adorable,” She finishes.
Did I hear her right? I'm pretty sure I look almost feral. My eyes turn red when I'm raging.
My lips stretch in a smile, “You're the best thing that has happened to me, mate.”
“I'm sorry I lost it, he was spewing nonsense.”
“It's Omari we're talking about, he spews nonsense a lot.” She has a glint in her eyes. “I was more worried about you when Martha said you were in trouble.”
“Someone has fallen hopelessly for me,” I tease with mischief. A red hue floods her cheeks.
“I need to go now, and get ready for tonight,” She says in a bid to leave.
Her presence has calmed me down and I've shifted back to my human form.
I wrap my arms tightly around her waist, pulling her closer to me.
“I'd like to announce you as my Luna to the pack tonight.”
Anita's POV“How are you doing my baby girl, I've missed you so much.” My father, popularly known as Council Member Morris, asked through the mindlink.“I'm good, Dad. I've missed you so much more.” I was staring at myself in the mirror, I looked really good. Martha had worked her magic on my face and hair. It's been so long since I've felt like this.“I've missed you too, my baby. So how have things been going around there?”“It's been crazy actually, I have so much to tell you.”“Are you okay?”“Yes, Dad I'm good. The thing is that the tournament has been much more tasking than I thought. Aria has been doing very well in the games. She slacked a bit during the first round. I think she didn't know enough about wolves and their humans.”“You need to have more conversations with her. It'll be of a lot of help.”“I will, Dad. I just don't want to come off as pushy or intrusive. But, I'll do my best. I have so much news for you.”“Yeah, like I want to hear it.” He taunted with a smug vo
Luna Averie's POV “Burns, we cannot be seen together. It's too risky for me to be here.” Luna Chiara whispered though I could hear her loud and clear. My heart thumped hard against my chest, I couldn't believe what was happening. Fortunately for me, the head maid asked me to clean the entire top floor of the pack house. Which had been deserted for a long while. “Calm down, Chiara. No one ever comes here. We've been doing this for so long, not even your mate has gotten a hold of us.”“Look, I'm not here to play games. I'm pregnant.”No wonder she is back here because she is supposed to be at the tournament, it truly was a great risk to come.“What! How could you be so careless? What were you thinking?”“Oooo please! This isn't the first time, remember. Brianna is yours too.”I gasped aloud in shock without knowing it. “Shhhh, did you hear that?” Beta Burns said shushing Chiara up.“Look, there's nothing. Don't stress yourself too much.” I rushed into another empty room.“See, ther
Aria's POV Just when I shut my eyes thinking I would fall out of the circle an arm held on to me tight and pulled me back in. I looked up and saw the mouthy red head. I peered around and noticed that she just kicked my assailant out of the circle. Surprisingly, we were in the same group.“Thank you.” I muttered, immediately I used my hand to feel around for my sword and used it to stand up on my feet. She ventured close to me, “It's nothing, silent one.”She rushed back to fight while I stood and caught my breath.“I want to see what's so special about you that everyone is raving about it.” An unfamiliar huge, Luna with a large scar running down her face approached me with a sword.“Not again.”She rushed towards me in minutes and struck at me, my legs shook at the sheer strength of the hit.“You're nothing but an over praised, little girl.”This time I pushed Willow forward and took a large step back from her. I twisted my arms and sliced through her skin. She flickered slightly an
Aria's POV “Babe, please be careful. I don't trust those packs one bit. Please be careful, okay?”“I will be, I promise you. But I must go in now, the female warrior in charge of us must be getting ready from her speech.”He pulled me into his arms and held me close. “I love you, Kitten. Take care of yourself okay?”“Yes, I will love.” I successfully pried myself off him. Rushing past a whole lot of Lunas and making my way close to the podium at the back stage. The female warrior walked towards the podium with a stern look on her face.“It's been a while ladies. Welcome to another round of the Tournament. You should have fun today while sparring, you would start with weapons and protective gear then hand to hand combat.”“Any other rules?”“Nothing but don't cheat, you remember what happened the last time. Do well to learn from that, don't try anything stupid. You will all walk in a file and collect your gears, then walk to those doors and change.” She pointed at some doors by the e
Adeth/Mabel's POV Roman and I walked hand in hand away from the cluster of tents all over their pack lands.“Your land is huge,” I muttered as he silently held my hands in his huge hands.“We do have a huge chunk of land that will also be yours some day.” He had a cheeky smile on his face.I rolled my eyes at his comment though my heart felt so warm.“You're good with words Mr. Player.”“What makes you think I'm a player?”“Your smoothness with words. Even over protective Kael fell for your words.”A chuckle rumbled in his chest. “Really? I didn't feel so at all. In fact I feel like he is just waiting for me to mess things up so he can deal with me.”I giggled aloud, covering my mouth with my hands.“That's funny to you huh? You little bag of mischief.” He lifted me in his arms and spun me around, then walked hastily for some minutes as I bellowed in laughter. To my uttermost surprise he placed me atop a soft blanket, now I paid attention to my surroundings and noticed that he had p
Kael's POV “Babe, I swear it wasn't much of big deal. She tried bullying Martha and I wasn't having it at all but I didn't mean any harm.” My Kitten rushed out in my arms. Her voice trembled slightly. “I know he was just looking for an excuse. He is already pissed that I refused to help his pack then now you put his daughter in her place.”“The pack will be so disappointed at me. We are trying to prevent a war but I am bringing one.”“Don't take it to heart, babe. He dared say you should apologise for it. Can you imagine the disrespect? A Luna apologising to a spoiled brat for something that wasn't her fault.”“I can.”“You will do nothing of that sort. She hurt my cousin so badly and shamed her so why would we be the ones to apologise.”She giggled at my statement. “What's so funny?”“Well, we discovered that Nathan is nothing but a coward with no back bone. So Martha dodged a bullet.”“We have no place for cowards, so they must be a perfect fit.”“Sometimes these things got me th
