Alpha Kael's POV

Aria has no idea that Maria told me about the altercation with Omari. I never liked the way he treated Omegas in his pack as filth.

I need to get his filthy claws far from my mate.

“That would be all,” I say. The piercing silence is replaced with a chorus of “Yes Alpha.”

“Meet me in my office after breakfast,” I mindlink my Beta, Aldin.

“Yes, Alpha,” He replies. His usual playful demeanour is replaced by a serious one. He knows when I mean business and is an extremely efficient Beta, though I won't tell him that to his face.

“Can I see you later, Babe,” Jessica's high pitched voice fills my mind.

“No, and if you value your position in the pack you will keep your distance.”

Thankfully, I am able to enjoy the rest of my breakfast in peace.

A loud knock distracts me from the stack of papers I am working on, on my office table.

“Come in.” I say in response and my Beta pushes the door strolling in as if he owns the place.

“You asked me to come, Alpha, is anything wrong?” He gives me a curious gaze.

“Yes, I'd like you to keep an eye on Omari, he seems to be bullying pack members.” Aldin's eyes widen in shock, “His entire presence irks me,” I finish.

“You've never been a huge fan of his since when we were kids,” Aldin finally says. “He gives me the creeps, like there's something wrong about him.”

“Same old friend, please do me this favour, the safety of my mate is at stake here,” I say my voice laced with worry.

“Yes, Alpha,” he then gives me an intense gaze, “What's your take on the Luna Trials?”

“It'll hold in a month's time, I wish there was a way around it but this is needed,” I answer.

“She has done something to you,” Aldin says. “You were never like this, not even with Margaret.”

To my surprise my wolf Alec, who has barely said much since Margaret's death, grunts in response. “I've never felt this sort of strong bond with our first mate,” Alec states at the back of my mind, “I can even feel her emotions, though we are yet to mark her.” He then goes silent.

“Is that Alec?” My Beta asks.

“Yes, it is”

“What a pleasant surprise, anyways don't you think announcing her officially as your Luna will protect her within the pack at least.”

“I thought about that but I need to place certain things in order, so that it wouldn't backfire especially now that the rogues are gaining ground in most packs.” I say.

“Alright that's okay, I'll do as you've said but keep in mind that Jessica is spreading rumors that is creating a bad reputation for your mate.”

“I'll do something about it, how are the preparations for tonight?” I ask with a curious gaze.

A smile plays on his lips, “You know how our she-wolves enjoy events, so far they've been running everything smoothly.”

I release a chuckle, “Well, that'll be all then.”

“Have fun, princess,” he teases, getting up and walking out. My eyes go back to the paperwork in front of me.

“Alpha Omari, are you here to see the Alpha?” Aldin's once teasing tone turns cold.

“Yes,” Omari answers in a clipped tone.

Aldin assesses him for a while then asks though the mindlink, “Should I let him in, Alpha?”

“Yes.”

“You know I'll gladly get rid of him,” He says in a dark tone.

“Let him in, Aldin.”

He gives him one last look before stepping aside so he can come through. Aldin then shuts the door but I can still feel his presence close, he hasn't left yet.

Omari reaches my desk, “Have a seat.” He then plops on the chair in front of me.

“How may I help you, Alpha?” I ask with a stern voice.

“I didn't think you would agree to my opinion on merging the packs, you were not too keen to accept.”

A scowl appears on my face, how dare he!!!

“So what's your point, Omari?” I say dropping any form of courtesy.

“Is it because of your latest side piece, Aria?” He taunts, “I never thought you would stoop so low and sleep with a low-life……

My canines and snout protrude almost instantly and my fingers and nails elongate in seconds. My fingers wrap tightly around his throat, slamming his back against the wall repeatedly. My eyes are seeing red, no one dares to insult my mate. I have been patient enough with this low life.

“You will respect her, I never want to hear her name come out from your filthy mouth, else you'll lose your head,” Alec speaks with a deep, authoritative voice. Rage pulses in my veins.

His attempts to pull me off are futile, he is strong even for an Alpha. But, I'm a Lycan from one of the original bloodlines, he doesn't stand a chance.

The door bursts open and I sense my Beta behind me.

“Alpha, he's not worth it,” he mutters soothingly, aiming to calm me down.

I let out a grunt and apply more pressure, no one disrespects my mate.

“Please, Kael, Aria won't like to see you like this.”

I freeze completely, taking back a bit of control from Alec.

“You called her here?” I ask in annoyance, still partially shifted.

“Kael, what's wrong are you okay?” My mate's ethereal voice fills my ears. She peeps into the office.

“Get him out of my sight,” I ordered. I barely paid attention to him picking up the barely conscious Omari.

My eyes meet hers, I'm so certain she'll make a run for it. She always makes me feel like I'm the best thing to look at. Even now she approaches me slowly with parted lips. I'm yet to tell if it is admiration or fear.

Her fingers graze my face, the scars I have in my human form are also visible in my Lycan form.

My wolf whines at her touch, she then lets out an adorable giggle. “You're so adorable,” She finishes.

Did I hear her right? I'm pretty sure I look almost feral. My eyes turn red when I'm raging.

My lips stretch in a smile, “You're the best thing that has happened to me, mate.”

“I'm sorry I lost it, he was spewing nonsense.”

“It's Omari we're talking about, he spews nonsense a lot.” She has a glint in her eyes. “I was more worried about you when Martha said you were in trouble.”

“Someone has fallen hopelessly for me,” I tease with mischief. A red hue floods her cheeks.

“I need to go now, and get ready for tonight,” She says in a bid to leave.

Her presence has calmed me down and I've shifted back to my human form.

I wrap my arms tightly around her waist, pulling her closer to me.

“I'd like to announce you as my Luna to the pack tonight.”

Luna Averie's POV “Averie?” A familiar voice called out, and I loosened my grip giving Emerald ample time to spin me over and choke my neck.“No, let her go, Emerald.” Frieda's familiar voice sounded closer this time and soon Emerald was pulled off.“Averie?” A very familiar voice echoed above me. Soon whispers filled my ears. “Is that the missing Luna Averie?”“She looks thin compared to before.”“Steph?” Her body hit me so hard against the ground and she wrapped her arms around me. A loud sob passed from her lips and I hugged her to myself, we wept for a while.“What happened to you? We all saw the remnants of your pack but you just vanished.” She said pulling away from me and looking at my face.“I was taken captive since then, I just got to escape now. How are you?”“I'm okay, I'm so happy you're here. I've missed you, not many people can keep up with me.” We both laughed at what she said.“Welcome back, Luna Averie.” Another Luna that looked familiar but I can't remember her na

Aria's POVI couldn't keep my head straight, so much was happening and I .getting overwhelmed. I had completely forgotten about Brianna the menace.“Are you okay, babe?” Kael asked me as I packed my bags getting ready for the trip in about an hour.“I'm fine, just thinking about everything that has been happening lately. It's like we have been sitting on a ticking bomb and our enemies knew about it.”He sighed and stood up from the bed then walked up to me wrapping his arms around me from behind. He took a whiff of my hair and held me close. I returned the gesture by holding onto him as much as I could.“We will be fine, I promise. Don't stress yourself about everything happening. You will definitely get past this.”“I believe so too.”“I wish you didn't have to leave. I'm scared, what if the rogue Alpha gets to you? I would be too far to do anything.”“Trust me babe, I'll be fine. It's just a minor thing. We will be careful, okay?”“Fine, but inform me about everything all the way.”

Aria's POV“What the hell is going on here?” Luna Emma growled and rushed to the bedside of her son.“Careful, Mom.” Roman said with a cracked voice. Adeth rushed to a drawer beside the door to get water.“I've missed you so much, my warrior.” Luna Emma kissed his head multiple times and held him to her chest. We both have them a moment to just hug each other.“I'm fine, Mom.” He murmured so she would be less worried.“How are you awake? They said your wolf was gone and we all expected the worst.” She said, looking at us suspiciously.“I guess it's a miracle that he is up. For now let's just be thankful that he is awake and seems fine.” Adeth said and tried to distract everyone from the obvious miracle.Luna Emma remained silent but kept staring at us both. “Okay, if you say so but I'm just letting everything go for now.”We both nodded and Adeth placed the cup of water on his mouth and he drank from her hands, slightly seated upright. He asked for more and she got for him. Aria's POVKael was awake but we didn't know who was on our side so we chose to hide it and pretend that he was still receiving treatment and was not responsive. Healing him had drained me so much.“What is our next course of action?” Luna Emma asked the room.We were all at the meeting hall since we had an emergency meeting that needed an urgent response. All the Lunas came together to see how we can do something on our own since the Alphas have been poisoned.“We need to do something about the Alphas. They mustn't all die or else the enemy will win. There must be something we can do.” Luna Emerald said in urgency. For the first time in ever she is sounding reasonable but scared.“I heard that the Powerful witch Elora is on this pack grounds.” A Luna I barely recognise spoke from the end of the table. “How did you become aware of that?” Emma asked sternly, she seemed to not take any nonsense. She is a strong and admirable Luna even through the chaos she is still standing strong.“Th

Luna Averie’s POVI had been in the pack cells for hours and I had begun to lose the count of time. It was like time was so slow in these underground cells. I had three cell mates, all males. This pack have no sense of decency.A guard dragged his finger nails against the cell bars making most prisoners around me shiver in fear. All I could see was red and my wolf threatening to take over. I held the gaze of the guard and he growled slowly at me.“You should keep your head low, the guards usually target those who try to act a bit defiant.” A cracked baritone voice whispered behind me.I reluctantly lowered my gaze and the guard kept moving.“You shouldn't cause yourself pain like that, they target people like you.” The prisoner behind me spoke once more.“Why are you here?” I asked the random man finally facing him. I tried sniffing him out but his scent didn't belong to any pack I knew.“I'm a rogue, that's why you can't pick up my scent.”“You are what?”“A rogue, surprised right?”

Thane's POV Anger ignited in my veins because of what happened some nights ago. My pride has been bruised and I tore into some warriors of the pack after we got to the camp.“Darling, what is on your mind?” One of the numerous women in the pack that I slept with whispered into my ears.We were both in bed. Funny enough she is mated to one of the old warriors here. Most of these women are after the comfort I can give because my space is the most comfortable of all.“Don't call me that, Thalia. There's nothing between us so know your place.”Tears filled her eyes but I chose to ignore it. I'm not ready to deal with the drama of mates again since after Shawn. “Get dressed and get out of here. While you're at it make sure you work on your scent. I don't need your mate on my doorstep causing any kind of chaos.”She nodded and quickly dressed up, rushing out of the room. I sat up gently from where I was lying down. My body is riddled with deep cuts. Some are healed while others are still
