"Ryan's ex... His fi--first love," I stuttered, looking at the lady, widening my eyes. Anika whimpers, realising our mate is still in love with someone else.

"You didn't know about Jenny?" She asked.

"I... I didn't know Ryan's ex's name was Jenny." I replied. Tears rolled from my eyes.

"Five years ago, when we met for the first time and felt the mate bond, he told me he loved someone else in his life, but I didn't know he still loved her", I mumbled in a low tone and wiped my tears.

"I thought he might have moved on from her. That's why he asked me to marry him" I said and lowered my head as I didn't want her to see tears in my eyes.

"Monika" She called me lovingly and took my hand in her hands.

"No one can replace Jenny in his life, but that doesn't mean you can't create a space for yourself in his heart," she said with a light smile. I chuckled and shook my head.

"If he hasn't forgiven her in the past five years then it's impossible that he will ever love me. Moreover, he hates me." I said, wiping my tears and taking a deep breath to calm myself.

"If he hates you, then why did he marry you, or why did you agree to marry him?" She asked.

"For our daughter" I replied shortly. She sighed and shook his head.

"I thought he finally chose to move on" " she mumbled in a low tone, then looked at me.

"I just hope his ruthless behaviour doesn't break your heart. Try not to mess with him or make him angry" She warned me.

"He gets angry by seeing my face, and she is saying don't make him angry", I thought, remembering how Ryan's eyes always look at me.

"I don't know why I felt like marrying him was going to be the worst decision we ever made. He is going to ruin our life." Anika said anxiously, increasing my fear.

"I'm sorry... I shouldn't scare you like this" That sweet lady apologized.

"You don't need to apologise for making me realise my life is not going to be easy here," I mumbled in a low tone.

"But you have me. Whenever my son does something or hurts you, then you can come to me. I will scold him and make him realise his mistake"

"Your son?" I looked at her shockingly, then bowed my head when she nodded.

"I'm sorry... I didn't introduce myself properly to you"

"You don't need to say sorry. You're like my daughter." She said and kissed my forehead lovingly.

"To be honest, I didn't expect such kind behaviour from you after seeing how everyone was ignoring and hating me. Believe me, I never want to take anyone's place here." I said.

"I know... let me take you to your room, which Ryan prepared for you" she said and walked towards the lift. I followed her.

"You don't hate me?" I asked after a few seconds of silence.

"You have many people who hate you, Monika, and believe me, it won't be easy for you to survive here. In such a condition, there must be someone who will be on your side, and I want to be that person."

"Thank you so much", I said, truly grateful to have her.

"I also want to apologise for not coming in the car you sent for me"

"I didn't send any car for you" she replied and walked out of the elevator, which stopped on the fifth floor.

"But driver said Luna mother sent a car for me," I said, following her.

"What?" she stopped in her tracks and turned to look at me shockingly.

"You reject Luna mother's offer?" She asked to confirm. I gulped nervously and nodded.

"Ohh Monika... You shouldn't have done that... Remember, never upset Luna mother or go against her. She holds an important place in Ryan's life."

"Okay. I will keep that in mind" I said.

"You better not repeat this mistake" She warned me. I nodded and made a note that Luna mother is important in Ryan's life.

"May I know who she is?" I asked when Ryan's mom stopped outside a room.

"She is Jenny's mother," She replied.

"Jenny's mother?" I asked her shockingly. Realisation hit me like a wave. She nodded and passed me a tight smile.

"That's why you all call her Luna mother... Luna means Jenny" I concluded. It would be a lie if I said it didn't hurt me. It made me feel like I came into an unwanted place.

"It's not something new... we are unwanted in everyone's life, Monika," Anika said. I nodded, agreeing with her.

"You should rest," Ryan's mom said and opened the door of my room. I nodded and was about to walk inside when she stopped me.

"Monika"

"Yeah"

"Don't remove your bridal gown until Ryan's return" She said.

"huh?"

"It's a ritual of our pack. Bride doesn't remove their gown until Groom returns to the room and gives her a dress to wear after it," She explained. I gave her a look 'Are you kidding me?' because the gown I was wearing held half the weight of mine. How am I going to wait for that monster wearing this?

"Okay?" She asked when I didn't respond.

"Okay," I replied with a forced smile. She nodded and left. I sighed in exhaustion and went inside the room, locking the door behind me.

"Now I have to wait for him to change my gown", I groaned and sat on the bed, thinking how my life had taken a devastating turn.

"The person who rejected me in the worst way after taking my virginity forced me to marry me after knowing I was pregnant with his child" I laughed at my destiny and shook my head, then looked around. There was a fresh smell of paint, indicating it was a new room, not Ryan's bedroom.

"Arghh.. How long is he going to take? Doesn't he know there is some stupid ritual this pack follows and he has to return to this room?" I yelled in frustration after waiting for more than an hour for him.

"That's it... If I can't change the gown, then at least I could go outside and find him," I thought and walked outside to search for him.

"He is near us", Anika said, smelling his alluring and mouth-watering scent. I frowned, wondering if he was near us then why he didn't come into the room. I followed Anika's instructions and finally reached the room where his voice and smell were coming. I was about to knock on the door but stopped after hearing his words.

"I didn't marry her out of love but for my daughter. I will never love a girl like her." Ryan was speaking to someone. I took a deep breath to control my tears. I knew this truth from the start, but every time he says this, it hurts me. Maybe because there is a hope that one day he will love me.

"I love you, Ryan" I scrunched my eyebrow when I heard a girl's voice.

"Who is he with on our wedding night instead of us?" Anika growled in jealousy. I couldn't hold my curiosity and peek inside the room.

"What the" I groaned and took my steps back. Tears rolled from my eyes after seeing him kissing someone else. He is with someone else on the day when he should be with me. He is making out with someone else when it should be me in her place.

I walked back towards my room, hating this miserable life more, and I knew this was the only start. I'm going to die slowly with each and every second that I will spend with him. I wrote this in my destiny. After all, the girl who got rejected by everyone could never get love from a ruthless Alpha.
