Kiara's POV.

I slowly opened my eyes to the soft morning sun that found its way into the room through the window.

Somehow, I had slept so soundly, better than the past twenty years of my life.

Turning around, a light sigh escaped my mouth as I realized that I was the only one on the bed, Hyde wasn't beside me.

Did he not sleep in the room last night?

Anyways, that shouldn't be a bother to me right? I mean having him around me makes me nervous and keeps me high on my emotions.

I tried to recall the occurrence between us last night, but my memory seemed to blur most of the details out. I could only remember him offering his blood to me, but I was certain he said a few more words to me after that, why can't I seem to remember any of it?

A soft knock on the door jolted me out of my trance. I quickly stood up and rushed towards the door, pulling it open to a middle aged lady standing by the door side, with a warm smile on her face.

"Good morning ma'am, and welcome to diamond Ave pack," she bowed slightly.

"Thank you." I managed to mutter, wondering why she is bowing to me.

"My name is Catherine, I'm your personal maid, your breakfast is ready," she replied.

My personal maid? I have a personal maid?

"Thank you, but am not really hungry right now," I replied with a grateful smile.

"Please ma'am, you can take few spoons, breakfast shouldn't be missed," she pressed further.

She seem quite nice.

"Alright, I'll be down shortly,"

She nodded and left.

I quickly fixed myself and strolled down towards the dinning, it was unbelievable how she and the rest of the house workers treated me with so much respect, they wouldn't let me lift a finger, except to take my meal.

A short while later, I was done eating and went back into the room, having nothing else to do, they wouldn't even let me do the dishes.

I was about to doze off when the door flung open and Hyde walked in, the atmosphere in the room somehow, had become thick with his aura and scent.

Who is this man?

I was high on my emotions again, my fingers fiddling with my dress as I thought of the words to say to him. Or are we just going to continue swimming in silence?

Did he even spare me a glance since he walked into the room?

My eyes trailed every move of his body, not until he grabbed the band of his shorts and made to pull it down.

What?

He's really going to undress right in front of me?

I quickly tore my eyes away from him and squeezed them tightly shut, my heart beating hard against my chest.

"Come with me, we are going to see my father," his voice suddenly cut through my ears.

Slowly, I pulled my eyes open to see him staring down at me icely.

"Oh.. uhm... I'll just quickly change my..."

"You don't have to, you look just okay." He cut me off sharply.

Okay?

How does he even know that when he hasn't spared me a glance since he walked in except now?

Slowly, I stood from the bed, standing a few inches away from him, my gaze never leaving the floor.

Why am I scared of him this much? Maybe because of the numerous rumors, but his attitude towards me this couple of hours seems a little distant from the ugly rumors.

I felt my heartbeat suddenly accelerate as he stretched forth his hand towards me.

He wants me to hold his hand again?

What is it with him and always making sure to hold my hand?

I gulped down dryly, placing my hand on his, his large palm covered mine as he led us out of the house.

It was a short walk from the house before he came to a halt as we arrived at a finely furnished building.

I needed no soothsayer to tell me that it was king Montero's mansion.

Hyde knocked softly, pulling the door open right after, and we walked in.

I could hear distant voices as we approached the chamber, my heart thumbed hard against my chest as we drew nearer.

Suddenly, I felt his hand on mine tighten slight, as if he could feel my nervousness.

The murmurs died down once we walked into the room, every eye now focused on us.

King Montero sat elegantly in his throne, while the rest that I presumed to be his brothers surrounded him.

Hyde slightly bowed to him without saying a word to any of them, before leading us towards a seat.

I could literally hear the sound of my heart beating so loud, thorn between the confusion of the hostility between the family and what my next line of action should be.

Do I try to be cheerful and greet or just remain calm beside Hyde?

Everything seemed so tensed, including the atmosphere.

"Welcome to the family, pretty," one of his brothers suddenly turned towards me with a hideous smile.

"Thank you," I tried to return his smile.

"You can always come to us if things become unbearable at your home," another one of them added and I casted him a quick glance, trying to understand what he was really hitting at.

"Unbearable?" I raised my brows at him. "You speak as though there's some sort of monster in my home that will make it unbearable,"

"There is, as a matter of fact; and it's quite familiar with your husband," the corner of his lips tugged up in a deep smirk as he spoke, casting Hyde a glance at intervals.

It was finally beginning to dawn on me what was really going on. Every sentence they've made was directed towards Hyde. It was mockery.

I couldn't help but wonder how their father could sit there and watch them throw such distasteful words at Hyde without speaking up.

Somehow, I was beginning to see Hyde in a different light, could the rumors about him be as a result of such heavy toxicity surrounding him?

"Well, I'm sure my husband and I are capable of doing something about this monster, but thanks for offering though." The words left my mouth before I could hold them back.

I couldn't believe I was defending Hyde against his family.

"You will come running to us in a short while dear," he chuckled mockingly. "You only speak because you do not...

The rest of his sentence cut through the air as Hyde, in a swift move, grabbed a nearby chair and flung it hard at him, followed immediately by another object.

"Hyde! That is enough!" King Montero yelled.

Oh now he can speak up?

"You don't tell me what to do!" Hyde roared, his fisted palm came down hard on the wall. Blood was beginning to spill from his palms.

The entire chamber was a total mess. Hyde continued to hurl every single furniture he could lay his hand on across the room.

"Leave the room, everyone." King Montero yelled, standing to his feet, including the rest of his son's who were already halfway to the door.

"You should leave too," he said as he got to where I stood. "Whenever he's like this, it's dangerous to be close to him,"

"Will he be fine?" My lips trembled as I spoke.

"Yes, after a few minutes."

I nodded slowly and started inching towards the door with them.

I couldn't stop thinking about Hyde as I ran, was he going to be okay? What if he hurts himself? What's the real reason behind such dangerous anger?

No! I can't sit back and watch him hurt himself, there has to be something I could do.

I suddenly turned around and started heading back towards him.

"Hey, what are you doing? It's dangerous, He's gonna hurt you." One of his brothers screamed after me.

I ignored him and continued towards Hyde.

He stood at a far corner of the chamber, his hands bleeding furiously, a part of his robe now stained with blood all over, he looked dead scary.

His head suddenly snapped towards my direction, his eyes blood shoot. "What are you doing here!! He roared, his voice echoed all over the room.

For a split second, I regretted my decision, I should have listened to his brothers.

I stood rooted to the spot, trembling uncontrollably, praying for some sort of rescue, which felt impossible at this point.

"Leave! Get the fuck out of here! Go!" he growled.

Finally, the rescue I prayed for, I only have to turn around and run out as fast as my legs could carry me.

But then I couldn't, not even a single step did I take.

"I said leave! Get away from me," he roared, this time, he matched towards me as he spoke.

I felt life slowly slipping away from me, I couldn't breathe anymore, I was watching my death match towards me with full force.

Just as he was few steps away from me, I did the unthinkable.

Unconsciously, I jumped up in fright, a loud cry escaped my lips as I jumped on his body, my legs wrapped around his waist and my hands around his neck.

"Stop please, you are scaring me!" I cried holding onto him tightly.

Kiara's POV.I thought I had prepared myself.I had given permission, after all. I’d told myself that it was just a dance. That it meant nothing. That I wasn’t going to be the jealous wife standing in the corner, fuming while her husband danced with another woman. No. That wasn’t me. I wasn’t going to let Valerie get under my skin. But as I stood there, watching Valerie lead him to the center of the floor, my stomach churned with a rage that I couldn’t even begin to explain. The way Valerie smiled at him, the way she placed her hand on his arm as if she owned him, God, I could feel the heat in my chest rise. Her fingers brushed against his skin, and I nearly choked on the knot forming in my throat. And that smile, so smug, so full of knowing.I had allowed it.No, I let it happen. But I couldn’t get rid of the feeling that I had been played, that I was just a pawn in some ridiculous game. She was using me.Her eyes flicked over her shoulder at me as they reached the dance floor, that

Kiara's POV.The maids had done their work well. Too well, I almost thought. I stood before the mirror, The gown was perfect. Elegant. Far too beautiful, perhaps. The bodice, a delicate lace embroidered with gold, hugged me tightly, extending softly to the floor. But it wasn’t the dress that held my attention. It was me. Or rather, how I looked. My skin had a radiant glow and my dark hair flowed in soft waves over my shoulders, a few strands left loose to frame my face. The makeup was subtle, just enough to emphasize the sharpness of my features, the natural flush of my cheeks, the slight upturn of my lips. But it was all... too much. Too perfect.a knock suddenly came on the door.“My lady?”It was one of the maids. “His Highness is waiting for you,” she said."I'll be with him shortly." I replied. As I made my way to the door, I paused, catching a glimpse of myself once more. What would Hyde think when he saw me?But I had no time to dwell on it. I took a deep breath, straighten

Kiara's POV.I’d been awake for a while. Not wide eyed and alert, just… existing. Eyes half open, staring at the carvings in the ceiling, following the curves of the wood like they might reveal some answer to the question still crawling under my skin.Valerie.I hated how her name sat in my mind like a splinter. Not even a sharp one. Just dull and persistent.Who was she really to Hyde? Could she truly be just the past? A closed chapter, no bookmarks left behind?Or was she a pause in a sentence waiting to finish? The thought alone made my stomach turn. And yet, here I was, still laid across the bed, pretending like I wasn’t still playing every moment from the garden over and over in my head. The way she had looked at him, and the way she absolutely didn't spare me a second glance. A knock suddenly snapped me out of it.“My lady?” came a gentle voice, Elsin, one of the quieter maids. “His highness requests your presence in the dining room. Breakfast is served.”My heart gave a traito

Kiara's POV.The night breeze relaxed my mind comfortably.I sat on a stone bench mounted on several parts of the garden, pulling my robe tighter around me, but not because I was cold. The garden had always been my place of calm, a corner of quiet. I could almost convince myself I wasn’t waiting for him.Almost.But my eyes stayed open.Hyde had left a while ago, long enough for the worry to start its slow creep in my chest. I hadn’t asked where he was going. He hadn’t offered the information. I told myself he just needed to feel the outside breeze just like I wanted as well.I ran my fingers through the petals of a moonlit lily beside me, trying to distract myself. The night was beautiful. Quiet. Peaceful. But all I could feel was the tightening in my gut. Then I saw him.A shadow at first, moving with the fluid pressure only Hyde ever had. He stepped into the the clearer light, and my breath caught in my throat. He looked like he’d been dragged through a war.His shirt clung to hi

The woods had always been a place for thinking.Hyde didn’t come to the forest for peace, he came for space. The kind of space that let thoughts stretch and unravel, wild and aimless. Although the quietness presently wasn’t comforting, not exactly. It was too alive, too watchful. Every creak of tree trunks, felt like he was been observed. But he pushed the thoughts away and and continued walking. His thought was centered on Kiara. She wasn’t the same girl he had first found trying to run away from her pack just so she doesn't have to marry him, and she was too scared of her father to stand up to him about it. There was so much fear and uncertainty in her eyes that day. She looked too naive. Too weak, bruised. But she’d changed. Bit by bit. Hardened and honed. He had seen the changes in her, more clearly than she saw it in herself. The quiet strength building behind her words. The way she didn't flinched when he told her his story... everything, no half truths, no softening, she h

Kiara's POV.The heavy steel door creaked open on a slow groan, and I stepped in.Hyde stood at the far end of the hall, shirtless, skin gleaming with sweat, knuckles bloodied from the heavy bag he’d been working like it owed him a life. His back was to me.“Didn’t I give an order?” he said, voice low and flat.“You did,” I said, stepping closer. “And I’m ignoring it.”He froze. I watched the muscles in his shoulders tense, then slowly relax.“I’m not in the mood, Kiara.”“Well, too bad,” I said, folding my arms. “Because I didn’t come here for your mood. I came here for you. And I’m not leaving without answers.”He turned to face me then. And when he did… his eyes were still normal. But everything else about him looked hollow. Torn.“You shouldn’t be here.”“I need to be here.”Our stares locked. For a moment, neither of us moved. The weight of everything unsaid crackled between us like electricity. Then he looked away.“What do you want to hear?” he said bitterly. “That I’m not who
