When Selly finally managed to catch a little sleep, the nightmares tormented her soul.

Needless to say, she couldn't even remember the bad dream she had. Only that her heart was in pain as if she lost something of value. No! not a materialistic belonging but someone…important.

Sitting on her bed made of dried grass, she wiped her eyes of the remnants of tears she wasn't aware of.

“Must have been intense.” She told herself.

There was no time for self-pity when one didn't even know their name.

The sooner she got going, the better. Lest she wished to starve, which she was not.

Surprisingly, she could hear birds chirping.

“What is so beautiful for them to be singing so loudly?” she cursed. “Hello! I am stranded here!” She shouted at them as if they could understand her language.

Wait a minute, covering her modesty, she rushed outside with her heart banging.

The change she had hoped for just vanished. She had looked forward to her reality being a bad dream but here she was, staring at th

  • Rejected For Another's Mate   39: A content Selly

Selly emerged from the pond, covered in mud and whatnot. A wide triumphant grin across her face and a 30+ inch long fish in her grasp. She had been lucky to have stepped on it while she was trying to catch the smaller ones.Leeches stuck on her pale skin, feeding on her rare blood.Slugs left their slimes on her.Yuck! She shook her leg trying to get rid of them but these little slimy creatures weren't called leeches for the sake of it, they lived up to their name. They refused to fall off her. After trying for a couple times without success, she gave up. Let them be. She would deal with them later.Giving the fish one final dip, she was satisfied with how clean it looked now.It wasn't squeaky clean like she would have prefered but that would do.It wasn't like she had any other option. Dig up a well and never have to worry about water ever again, oh! she wished.Having managed to take a couple sips in the less dirty part of the pond, or so she thought, her thirst was quenched and s

  • Rejected For Another's Mate   37: It hurts

[Mother.] Jordan's called through the mind-link.Collette almost collapsed to the ground. Her eyes went wide and so were Lewis’s. “This is impossible.” She muttered.[Mother...] He called again. [It hurts.] He admitted. Collette's body swayed and Lewis quickly caught her, securing her weak form in his strong arms. His mate had been losing strength quite often lately and it worried him. He just hoped it wasn't anything serious but stress.Jordan had never mind-linked before.Even after his twin brother had shifted early on, at seventeen, he couldn't.And when Dominik had smelled and found his mate, he had remained miserable. Lonely. Useless. Although no one publicly bullied him for lacking the attributes of a werewolf, no one respected him either. In the world of shifters, respect wasn't inherited, it was earned. A right only reserved for the most ruthless. The strongest and feared ones.“Weakling.” The pack members had always whispered behind closed doors. The little considerat

  • Rejected For Another's Mate   36: You're hurting

“Take me to my son, Lewis.” Luna Collette's voice went up. A pitch higher. Tired of letting her mate decide things for her.“That I will.”“Let's go now.” She insisted.“Just a small detail before we head… home…”Collette's face fell. “You lied to me.”Lewis was quick to explain, “No. I swear.”“If not then why are you hesitating? Why keep another detail hidden when I have waited for far too long to hug my son. Ease his pain?”“I didn't lie. I can not do that to you.”Collette scoffed, “you have done worse.”Lewis didn't have to ask to know what she was talking about. He was well aware that she was angry at him for tying her up and locking her inside like a prisoner which was, after all, for her own safety. “I apologize.”“Treating me like a child,” She counted, “locking me inside like I am a danger to society…”“It's not like that.”“It sure isn't. Who would have thought that there would come a day when you would…”Lewis didn't dare raise his head, “I was only looking out for you.”

  • Rejected For Another's Mate   35: Stranded

After having managed to kidnap her and disturbed the little hope she had built for herself when she thought that she would finally be free, the three strangers hopped in their car and left without another word.Selly, who was still trying to figure out her new environment and the fact that she couldn't remember a thing about herself didn't notice that her captors had already left. She was left alone and fate was about to play a sick joke with her life. One that she wouldn't accept if she were made aware of.The cottage looked as old as time itself. Barely hanging on. The dirt didn't do much to help with the shock.“Who am I?” She asked herself aloud. How come she didn't remember herself? Something convinced her that it was but a bad dream. One that she was eager to wake up from.Having no recollection of who she was was scarier than anything she knew at the moment. How was she supposed to navigate through life without a single clue about her very own identity?Yet, at the far and hi

  • Rejected For Another's Mate   34: Naked inside a cottage

The burst of lightning disappeared as quick as it appeared living behind a whimpering werewolf.Did I survive it? He asked himself. Lewis opened his eyes to a new reality. The thunderstorm and lightning were now replaced with a different kind of sound. A heartbreaking whimper of his son's wolf.Lewis has never heard someone hurting like Jordan was or maybe he was being biased but it hurt him to see him in pain. Wait!Lewis stood up, was his son back to his normal self? A smile painted at his tear-stricken face.Technically, Jordan was still in his wolf form but to him, that was progress. The fact that the storm had calmed down and he could see his son instead of the ball of darkness was a step closer to getting his son back.“Son…” Alpha Lewis called but was met with a growing melancholic whimper. He wanted to open the door that stood as an only hindrance between him and his son, hug his pain away. Wipe away the tears and fears he had endured for the last few days.“You came back to
