Malachi groaned, not liking the unwelcomed interruption. He broke the kiss and bit his lower lip as he took in her flushed face. There was a second knock and he reluctantly went to answer the door. Who the hell needed him in the dead of the night? Vernis moved behind the door with her hand on her beating chest. The last thing she wanted was to answer anyone about her presence in Malachi's room. He opened the door halfway and blocked the entrance. “What?” He asked Jordan with a flat tone. Jordan didn't answer and his sharp eyes stared onto his lips and eyes for a second longer. He seemed like he noticed something but decided not to ask. “Someone reported seeing the dragon king leave his room but somehow he is nowhere to be found. Have you seen him?” He asked. Malachi's eyebrow rose as he tried to cover Vernis’ presence with another question. “Dont you think it's too early to leave your mate unattended?” Jordan sighed, neglecting his words. “That man can not be fully trusted.”
