He’s lounging at the far end of the lake, his muscular arms stretched along the rocks, completely at ease, as if he owns the place. That’s my usual spot.

His brown eyes lock onto mine, unreadable and intense. Then he speaks, his voice calm but laced with dry sarcasm, “Your voice is off pitch.”

My jaw tightens. What the hell is he doing here?

I clutch the towel tighter around myself, heart pounding. Thank the Goddess, I decided to wrap it around my body. Another few seconds and I would’ve walked in completely naked.

But I can’t stop my eyes from trailing over him. The way the water clings to the hard lines of his chest, droplets sliding down each defined muscle. His abs glisten under the moonlight, and his wet brown hair sticks to his forehead in a messy way that only makes him look more maddeningly attractive.
