I hadn’t expected to see Evangeline at the airport.

I knew she’d be here though… in Germany. I saw her name on the list of nurses for the fellowship we sponsored and knew immediately I was attending the program.

I usually delegated it to my Beta, but I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see her.

I never considered myself a masochist, but with Evangeline, there was nothing I wouldn’t do.

I knew when I met her again three years ago that she was my mate. All it took was one look at her, one whiff of her intoxicating scent, and I was done for. I would have begged on my knees and eaten right out of her palms if she’d asked me to.

I tried to tell her, but I’d seen the mark on her neck, and I knew she’d never understand. Mating with another man meant that she couldn’t feel what I felt. The mating bond didn’t affect her as it did me.

I was younger then. I was hot headed and jealous, so I ruined whatever chances I had with her. I cut off all ties with her and never returned.
