LOGINEVANGELINE
I never lied.
It was my one rule for life.
I had no issue telling half-truths and twist the truth around to fit my narrative, but I liked to pride myself on the fact that I never told a straight faced lie.
As Alpha, I had little reason to lie. There weren’t many people in the world who would dare to challenge me head on, and the few who did were currently rotting in their graves somewhere. I had to tell enough lies to get to my position and I swore that once I got here, I’d stop.
Today, I broke that rule.
I knew that Alex called Evangeline, I heard his voice on the phone, and judging by the way she practically rushed out of my home, I could tell that it was urgent and she wasn’t pleased.
When I followed her, I told myself that it was only because I wanted to take her up on the dinner offer, but the truth was, it was much more than that. I wanted to make sure that she was safe. Despite how pis
EVANGELINEI agreed to the dinner when I realized that Alex would be taking me to the same place Nicholas was allegedly having his meeting. It was a desperate attempt on my part but I hoped that Alex was lying and Nicholas hadn’t returned because if he had then the truth was glaringly obvious… he didn’t care as much as I thought he did.
NICHOLASI was in a meeting when I heard that Evangeline was kidnapped. Before leaving, I’d ordered Brandon to put as many guards by her side as possible. He’d laughed about it, joked about me being overprotective but did as I asked. Their job was to keep an eye on all time. I had no idea how they managed to let her get taken but I was fucking furious.
ALEXANDERMy hands shook so bad that I shoved them into my pockets lest Eva see just how terribly this revelation was weighing on me.I didn’t want to believe it when my Beta told me. While she was unconscious, I went over every document, every finding, and with each word I read, my heart sank lower into a pit of despair. T
EVANGELINEMy brows knitted in confusion. “Car accident?”He nodded. “Just think a little, it’ll come to you.”Sixteen years ago was when my parents died. Most of my memories from that year had faded to the back of my mind, but I did as he asked and I tried to remember. I’d nearly given up when
EVANGELINEJust as I’d accepted my fate, I felt Alex clamp onto my shirt from the back.I screamed, my lungs quickly filling with smoke as I was thrown high in the air. I braced myself for impact on the hard concrete floor, but to my surprise, I landed on soft fur. I barely had time to grab onto him when he began
EVANGELINEAlex’s eyes landed on mine immediately and I saw as relief washed over his features.I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel relieved as well. I’d never thought that he would be the one to come for me, after all, he’d never made me a priority before. Seeing him though, it gave me a sense of hope.
