NATHAN'S POV.....

"Alpha, I can't find her," My Beta said and I spun around to face him with an unreadable expression on my face. I clutched the wine glass I had in my hand tightly, trying to suppress the anger that was quickly surging through me. That's not what I had expected to hear.

When I rejected the low life mate of mine last night, I had thought it's better to send her away before the pack would get to hear she was my mate. I never want that to happen because if I don't accept her, my people will think I am weak and I am sure rumors will start spreading. The neighboring packs might hear of it and launch an attack.

Those sick and pathetic fools don't waste time in trying to bring me down.

I took a handful of breaths and gulped the remaining content inside the glass and set it on the table.

"What do you mean you can't find her? Did she develop wings and flew away?" I asked, moving closer to him. I was not in to entertain jokes right now. Jones always makes jokes out of everything and from the expression I was seeing on his face, I was sure he was kidding but then his heartbeat said otherwise.

"I searched everywhere for her last night yet she was nowhere. I even asked the head servant this morning, she stated that the last time she saw Bella was when she pushed her out to spend the night outside."

I didn't know what to think but if there was something I was in need right now, it was to make sure that she stays far away from my pack. I can't allow her to ruin my reputation and make me look like a weak Alpha.

"Okay. Keep searching for her and the moment you see her, make sure you throw her out. I don't want to ever set my eyes on her again."

Jones bowed and left the room.

The moment the door closed, I sighed and what happened last night came flooding through my mind.

I had a busy day yesterday attending to everything partaking in the pack's economy.

I was so exhausted and I was longing to sleep. I had barely slept for a long time when I felt a sudden presence around my room. Inasmuch as I was deeply asleep, I was aware of my surroundings and I could feel another person in the room. However, I shoved the thoughts aside when I recalled that I was alpha and no one had the right to enter my room.

And then, a scent flew past my nostrils, causing me to jerk up immediately. I had never felt something like that all my life, but I could tell that this was the one moment I’ve been waiting for my whole life…my mate.

A figure stood before me, and I needed no one to tell me that she was the one.

“Mate!” I blurted out as I jumped out of the bed and stood before her, with my heart beating in excitement.

My excitement dried up immediately as I took a careful look at the lady who stood before me. Not only did I recognize her as the clumsy lady who spilled tea in my room yesterday, she was an omega!

“What the hell!” I muttered under my breath as fury replaced my previous excitement. There was no way I would be accepting a mere Omega to be my mate. This looked more like a ridicule, and I couldn’t help but wonder if the moon goddess was only trying to make me an object of mockery in the eyes of everyone in the pack.

“How dare you come into this room?” I growled angrily as I grabbed her neck and held her firmly.

She winced in pain, but I wasn't concerned about that. She had no right to come into my room, and I wasn’t going to let this slide.

“We are mates…”, she said in a voice that sounded like a whisper. That only infuriated me more, and I tightened my grip on her.

“We are not mates!” I declared, peering into my eyes and watching how she shuddered in fear.

“I, Alpha Nathan Grayson of the blood moon pack, reject you, Isabella Walter, as my mate!” I said sharply, after which I pushed her away from me.

She looked at me with an unbelievable gaze, after which she staggered backwards, with tears dropping out of her eyes.

My wolf recoiled back in rage, but I cared less about that. There was no way an Omega in the pack would be my mate.

“Get out!” I yelled out of my lungs while she ran off, not taking another minute to glance at me.

My heart ached slightly as I clutched tightly to it and fell to the bed, breathing heavily and trying to catch my breath. It felt as though a part of my heart was torn away and it hurt terribly.

Different thoughts enveloped my heart just as I felt the cold wind coming into my room from my window. It felt strange to see how much I waited for a mate all my life and how she turned out to be someone who I would never want to be with.

Was the moon goddess always this cruel?

A knock interrupted my thoughts and I smiled strangely. Funny enough, all that I felt last night was no longer there. She didn't matter anymore.

"You can choose to stay outside or come in," I growled and waited.

The door cranked open and Jones stepped in with a little smile on his face. I narrowed my eyes at him for a little while before shifting my gazes behind him.

"You found her already?" I questioned briefly and the smile on his face dropped.

"No." His response was short which infuriated me. I glared at him, "then why are you here?"

"Someone is here to see you."

I waited for him to say who but it looked like he was finding it difficult to say the name.

"If not that I consider you to be a brother, Jones, one day I will deal with you."

"I am sorry but the person visiting is not a friend." He whispered and that moment I felt like strangling him.

"Shut up, Jones and tell me who!" I yelled and he flinched.

"Okay! Okay!! You don't have to shout. It's Damien Wyatt."

As soon as the name slipped off his lips, my face clouded and I stamped out of the room in fury.
