Sacred bonds

Felza's POV: 

I wore an emerald -colored gown for the evening. Rhys is nowhere to be found since we talked, more like arguing in the corridor. I don't feel like attending the party but iam the Luna of the pack and I don't want my pack to talk about their Luna’s absence. 

I walked down the stairs and moved towards the ballroom where the party is going to be and the pack house is buzzing with people. There is some time for the ceremony to start so I need to check everything before everyone fills out the pack house and the ballroom.

“ You are looking so beautiful, Luna.” One of our omega maids complimented as she walked towards the kitchen. I always treated them with respect and love, they returned the same love and respect towards me.

“ Thank you, Annie.” I thanked her before entering the ballroom. My eyes scanned the room as the decorators have done a very good job of decorating the hall with flowers and lights everywhere. 

My heart filled with happiness as my expectations have met and everything seems to be in perfect sync and the way I have planned. 

The scent of Jasmine and mild smoke filled my lungs as my heart started beating erratically. This scent belongs to Rhys and my wolf perked up at the thought of seeing our mate.

He stood out there in the back garden with his back to me and he changed into a black suit and he was speaking to someone and I couldn't see the person whom he was talking to.

I started walking towards him, my heart feels so heavy and I miss him so damn much but his animosity towards me is so painful. It's not like Rhys has ever confessed his love for me, he is man of less words and he always showed me he adored me in the sheets, other than that he never told me anything but I was the fool, fell in love with him and ignored everything. 

I thought him being with me was enough and never cared for any dates or confessions of undying love. Our whole marriage was started as contractual, so i have no right to expect anything. 

I stood behind him and I was hit with the overwhelming scent of perfume which hid the person’s scent. The feminine voice is new and my heart ached without any reason. 

“Rhys?” I called, his body stiffened like he got caught in the act and the person who was in front of him stepped to the side and my heart stopped beating and my eyes were fixated on her. I don't know why but seeing her standing there feels something off and the way her red lips turned into a knowing smirk made my skin crawl.

Her blue eyes are screaming triumph and her lips with her smirk taunting and for what? I don't know. 

“ Felza? What are you doing here?” Rhys asked, he turned around to face me and his face was void of any emotions and his eyes were blank and there was no smile nor any warmth in his tone.

This is not my Rhys, this is not him at all. 

“ What do you mean, what am I doing here! I am your wife and Luna of this pack, Rhys. Did you forget that!” My anger is flaring and the woman who is standing behind Rhys just scoffed and her damn smirk is still present on her lips.

“ Who are you!” I don't care if she is the daughter of any of the Alpha. She has no damn right to disrespect me like that in my pack. 

“ Felza! Nice to meet you. I am Lisa.” She introduced herself, walking behind Rhys, wantedly touching him with her shoulder. My fists clenched tightly not wanting to punch the day lights out of her. 

“ It's Luna Felza for everyone, Lisa. Nice to meet you too.” Rhys growled low in his throat and my eyes snapped towards him as his angry eyes are fixated on me and his anger is towards me?

“ If you guys could excuse me, I have to meet others too.” Lisa excused herself and wandered off somewhere. My eyes are still on Rhys but his are on her.

“ What is it, Rhys?” I tried again, wanting to hear him out and know what is bothering him but his face hardened more and he looked annoyed at my presence. 

“ Don't start now, Felza. Everyone is piling in. I don't want you to throw your tantrums. Behave and be a good little Luna.” His harsh words pierced through my heart and I felt like he had slapped me with his words. 

Tears threatened to fall down my eyes but I held them back. Now is not the right time to break down. I am the Luna of the pack and I just can't be weak. Whatever is happening with Rhys we can deal with that later,and hopefully together. 

The ballroom started filling in, Rhys and I set back our differences and greeted everyone and made them feel welcomed. Rhys was distracted all the time he was beside me. His eyes were searching and he seemed impatient like he was waiting for someone or something.

“ You look so lovely, Luna.” Vanessa compliments as she takes a sip from her glass, her face looks flushed and she is giggling now and then. Normal alcohol would never make us drunk but there is a type of alcohol for our kind and we mix it with normal alcohol. 

“ Thanks Vanessa, you look lovely too and it's the tenth time that you have complimented me in ten minutes.” I laughed at her pout as she looked guilty. 

“ Excuse me ladies! Hope iam not intruding.” Beta Eric’s voice comes from behind and Vanessa’s face lit up with joy and love. 

“ Baby! Where were you? I missed you so much.” Vanessa cooed, circling her arms around her mate’s neck and tried to kiss him, Eric's face turned red as he blushed and started apologizing for his drunk mate.

“ It's okay, Eric. She has had too many. Take her back to your room, she needs some rest.” They excused themselves and I stood there with envy burning in me. I am not jealous of them but of their bond and love.

Why can't I get that love and connection from my husband? 

Most of the party was finished and the only ritual which was left was to go out in the garden and wait for the moon goddess to bless the unmated wolves with a mate. It's a full moon today so the rays of the moon will give them to their mates. The moon goddess will shine her blessing from up there and bless us with our other half.

Sadness filled me as I looked around the men and women who happily walked out of the ballroom eager to find their mate. I am the one unlucky she-wolf who would never get to feel the mate bond and the connection of true mates. 

My eyes desperately tried to find Rhys but he was nowhere to be seen. Disappointment and hurt gripped my heart and I followed the crowd to witness the sacred bonds taking birth.
