Amelia's POV

I smiled widely, rubbing my stomach with care as I walked into my matrimonial bedroom.

It had been over three months, and my pregnancy had not resulted in a miscarriage like the other ones. "I am done with the preparation, ma'am!" The maid Ashton hired to help me with house chores announced from the passage.

"Ok. Is that my husband's car honking?!" I raised my voice back, feeling a bit scared.

"Yes, ma'am,"

I rushed out of the room with my hand wrapped around my stomach because I did not want Ashton to walk past the living room before I gave him the news he had always wanted to hear.

My palms turned sweaty as the giant door creaked open. "Happy third anniversary!" I grinned when he walked in, but he kept his usual cold face.

He stepped closer to me, eyes burning with anger. "I would like it if you could greet me with happy divorce day instead," he barked, staring at me with so much dislike.

"What do you mean by that, my dearest?" I stuttered as my mood slowly changed to a bad one.

Not today when I had planned everything to go smoothly.

"You shouldn't be talking to me about a divorce on our third anniversary," I complained, placing my hand on his arm to massage him there.

Ashton jerked out of my grip as if my hand was burning him.

"This isn't about warning you, Amelia. You should have known that I could return with the real divorce document." He shoved the file at my chest.

I flinched backwards, but I quickly caught the file.

"If you think what I am doing is wrong, then explain this intimate picture of you and your male friend?" Ashton hissed in a grossed-out look as he pointed his phone at my face.

"He sent this picture to me with a message explaining the countless times you guys did it. You cheated on me," He said with so much sadness in his voice.

My heart skipped a beat, dread washing through my soul at the setup.

It was a picture of my male friend at college, who lovingly wrapped his hands around my body.

I slept on campus that day because I was stressed out; it was two days before our graduation, which was over a year ago.

Truly, anyone who sees this picture will agree that I was having an affair.

I would never forgive him for trying to destroy my marriage, because why would he suddenly take a picture of us and send it to my husband if it wasn't to cause me harm?

This picture is a huge excuse for Ashton to get rid of me.

"I don't know anything about it. He is just a friend, dearest. Please don't do this to me." I begged, my voice breaking with raw pain.

"There is nothing you are going to do. You will leave my house tonight," Ashton said firmly.

"Even if you want to divorce me, your family wouldn't allow it. I will call your mother." I trembled towards my phone to click on my mother-in-law's phone number.

It went through before the second beep.

"I was just about to call you." His mother said, making my heart warm up a bit.

"Well…I hope you are already out of my son's house, you gold-digger?! I should have listened to him when he said that you lied about him being the father of your first, but now dead child. What was I thinking when it was confirmed that you two met in a club? I will be visiting that house tomorrow, and I believe you don't want me to chase you out myself. You shameless human being!" Ashton’s mother continued to rain insults on me, giving me my final heartbreak.

Tears rushed out of my eyes as I murmured in short breaths, "I never lied, Mother." I shook my head and grabbed onto the nearby couch's arm to stand well.

I was now shaking terribly.

My eyes were turning me so badly.

"Who is your mother? Go and find your mother who has left you to live on the street." She hissed loudly and cut the call.

She was my only hope.

"What is happening, Ashton?" I cried out, my eyes cloudy with painful tears. "What have I done to get this? What if I am pregnant? Will you chase me out like this?" I knelt on the floor, crawling to his front.

At this point, I will do anything to get his forgiveness.

"What is the point when it will still result in the same way? Besides, someone more fertile will soon be pregnant for me," He bragged, beating his chest with a fist.

"Did you cheat on me?" I wailed in sorrow.

"Just like you cheated on me, Amelia. I will be getting married to her in a few days," His eyes glinted with joy.

I groaned with my eyes shut, trying to stand on my feet, but I fell so hard that I hit my buttocks on the tiles with heavy force.

A sharp ache ran through my abdomen.

I held onto my stomach and cried out.

When I opened my eyes, I saw Ashton staring at me with so much worry, but that look didn't last long on his face.

He stood up and picked up the divorce document, then squatted beside me, forcing a pen into my hand, "Sign it!" He glared at me.

"I will sign it if you promise to allow me to stay for the night with proper treatment," I bargained in a pleading tone.

"Sure. That shouldn't be too much to do" He waved off his hand.

I bit my lower lip as I hurriedly signed the document. My worst nightmare had just happened. "I'm done. Can you call your doctor now?" I whimpered.

"Your situation seems familiar. Another miscarriage? No wonder you were talking about pregnancy. You are useless" He groaned in disgust. "You do not expect me to cover up the expenses. After all, we are now strangers." Ashton picked up the file, stood up, and walked towards the master's bedroom.

"Ashton! Please, just do this one favor for me, and I will forgive all your treatment towards me for the past years!" I pushed myself to move forward until two bodyguards entered to carry me out.

"I will pardon you by allowing them to drop you at the Hospital. You came into this house with nothing, and you shall go empty-handed." I heard his voice echo, but he did not even turn around.

"Let me go!" I cried out one last time before I was forcefully pulled out of the mansion into a car.

Thunder rumbled loudly before the heavy rain began to pour with no control.

After driving for about three hours, one of the guards got a call.

It ended almost immediately, and he told the other one that their mistress wanted them to throw me off the bridge.

I panicked as I looked around the dark area in fear. Could the mistress be Ashton's new partner?

“You can't drop me here!” I shouted when they stopped the car.

"You are not our boss's wife. The new madam told us to throw you over the lagoon, but we will pity you, and leave you here on the road to find your survival. We are sorry." One of them apologized.

The guards shoved me out of the car, turning a deaf ear to my plea.

I had no strength to call them back anymore as they drove away at full speed.

I cried in silence, curling up to cover myself from the cold night.

My clothes were already soaked with blood, and the thought of my baby being dead again threw me into a state of suicidal thoughts.

A car rushed past the road and splashed dirty water on me, making me wriggle to the middle of the road, waiting for the worst to happen.

The moment I saw a car speeding over, I shut my eyes and murmured my last prayers.

What I wanted was taking too long to happen, but I still stayed there until I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder.

I opened my eyes and almost screamed when I saw an old but healthy woman.

"Young lady, what are you doing out here in the middle of the road on this cold night with blood stains on you?" She asked in a calm tone, but I did not respond.

“What kind of ungrateful women do we have in this new generation?” She groaned, her face filled with shock.

Then all of a sudden, her voice began to sound farther and farther away.

“Carry her inside my car,” that was the last sentence I heard from her before everything blacked out.

  • Rejected by my baby's daddy; Treasured by his step-brother    Facing the wicked heart

Amelia's POV My body turned cold, causing me to stop walking again. I gently leaned my side against the wall, stretching my fingers out to see how pale it was. It's because of the anger that was trying hard to tear me apart. It feels as if I will not be able to breathe for the rest of my life. I bowed my head as anger flowed through me. I stared at the window, and now my son was crying quietly with his lips folded in his mouth to keep his voice low. He groaned loudly in fear when one of the boys raised his hand to hit him. My eyes widened, faster than the speed of light, I ran into the classroom and shouted "Don't you dare raise your hand on my son!" They almost fell on themselves as they all turned back to see who owned the voice. Murmurs filled the room, and one by one they jogged out of the room. It was at the same time that the teacher entered, her eyes on everyone as they rushed out, they were even pushing her out of the way. She kept looking aro

Amelia's POVThe lower part of my stomach began to burn slowly, and my forehead was dripping with sweat, despite the air conditioner being on. My heart raced faster than normal. Out of anger, I was very sure that my eyes had become light red. My head felt so heavy, but I shook it twice and blinked one more time to make sure that everything I just read was part of my bad dream, which needs to stop right now. So unlucky for me because it's real. I locked my eyes on my screen, “Ah, ah..” the sound slipped out of my tongue. I raised my head, looking at the space in my room with my lips still hung apart. I couldn't wrap my head around all these. I was still shocked at the audacity of her going this far. I will have to teach her a lesson together with Gregory, because there is no doubt that he was surely the one who gave her my personal phone number. These days, the people I hate deep in my soul seem to be flocking around me like a clinging mite. "Old day's sake?" I scoffed bitte

  • Rejected by my baby's daddy; Treasured by his step-brother    The past comes knocking

Amelia's POVThere was a long silence after I said that I was tired of the issues arising all the time with the West family. “Even though the West never mistreated me, I have promised myself not to defend wealthy people in my life,” Mrs. Pat began, her voice stern. “Uh..” I raised my teary eyes to look at her face. “Yes, but I have to break that rule right now.” She takes a deep breath. “The West did not kick them out just like that, it was Ashton's mother's fault. That child she had for the late James West was out of..uhmm..” She gulped and stayed quiet while blinking fast like someone who regrets speaking. “You've started talking already, I will not tell anyone. Besides, I need to know some things, please,” I begged her. “I trust you.” She faked a smile at me, and I nodded in response. “Ashton's mother was best friends with Liam's mother, they literally grew up together in wealth until things went off for Ashton's mother's family, but her friend still stayed

Amelia's POV I groaned tiredly, rolling over the bed as my alarm continued to ring very loudly. The sound vibrated through the room until I stopped and stretched my hand to switch it off. “Ugh..” I grunted in pain as my head sparked multiple times again. My eyes were heavy and my head hurt because I wasn't able to sleep throughout the night. It's like this since my mind was just filled with sad thoughts. All because of Granny West, Ashton, Uncle Greg, other West relatives, the company, and now Liam West has joined the people I need to be worried about. Well, my heart has not been at peace in the case of Granny West, and that is why I will be visiting her this morning. I am so tired at this point. Nothing is coming from my end to solve the case of Ashton telling the world about his real identity. He will surely be working with Uncle Greg at this point, and it's tiring. Imagine two devils plotting against me. Maybe Liam getting better this time is a ble

Ashton's POV “Ooh," Miranda stood up at once, and placed her hand on her waist, shaking and breathing heavily. She was ready to lay curses on me and exchange words with me as usual. She is nothing like my ex who would try all sorts of tricks to make me feel at home, even when she knows I was wrong. Oh. How much I missed you, Amelia. "I guess you don't know the chaos you made. It has just destroyed your company," She began, giving me a hateful glare. Here she goes, I rolled my eyes. Aren't those words too much to use? "Shareholders are selling their percentages to loan companies, leaving you in the loan companies' custody. Investors are suddenly backing out. You had so many opportunities, but you missed them.” She breathes in, her eyes shining with a sly glint. My heart dropped, and a cold shiver ran down my spine when my senses crashed with the main reason why I was in a hurry to get a partnership with the West. My company was about to go bankrupt! And y

  • Rejected by my baby's daddy; Treasured by his step-brother    Echoes of regret

Ashton's POV I could feel pain washing through my veins each time my mind went back to the scene of Amelia yelling at me to get out of the West business building. All my life, I have worked hard to get to the top, living a selfish life that didn't care about other people's feelings. At this point, I have gotten myself destroyed by darkness. I could do anything as long as I get praised by those people in power, but never have I come across a shocking scene like the one I witnessed yesterday. Yes, among my plans was to get into that family that rejected my mother and me. But how? I will do that through my step-uncle, Gregory. It worked without much effort because he wanted more control over the West's fortunes, too. To him, I will be a useful tool. I knew he would need me, and that was why I approached him. It's all game, and no one knows the winner. Uncle Greg and I work together for now, and he has been giving me a lot of information about the West Ent
