Jeremy ignored me when I asked him to stop. He slammed the door shut and left, leaving me there alone. I didn't want to lose him, as he was the only person I had left.

I stayed alone in the apartment, analyzing our recent conversation. I felt guilty, but I knew I wasn't. My decision was right and sensible. It scared me, but Jeremy had no right to be angry with me for that. He couldn't expect me to choose him to be the father of my children when he wasn't. I'm sure Jeremy would behave like an excellent stepfather, but it was Demian's role to be the father.

I went down to work at the cafe. It was my turn to open it, so I got ready and arranged the tables and chairs. The customers didn't take long to arrive.
