Chapter 2

Author: Liliadon
In a werewolf's bloodline, loyalty stands above all else. Since my mate bond had already been defiled, I would rather sever it.

My father didn't ask any questions. He simply replied with a single word: [Alright.]

The Fallen Blood Pack's most important annual trial arrived as scheduled.

Legend said that only a werewolf who faced the abyss of Fallen Cliff on the night of the full moon—and completed the trial—could truly earn the Moon Goddess's recognition.

Although the rift between Liam and me had long since deepened, I still didn't want personal grievances to taint the pack's sacred ritual.

As the moon rose, I placed my hand before the stone basin, ready to begin the trial.

Liam interrupted me.

"Wait. Let Lily start the trial with you."

Only then did everyone notice that there was a woman standing beside the Alpha.

Lily wore a pristine white fur robe that clashed sharply with the surrounding leather garments. Silver thread traced the Fallen Blood Pack's totem along the hem.

"Who is that woman beside the Alpha?"

"Where is our Luna? Why isn't the Luna at the Alpha's side?"

"That totem—how can an outsider wear something like that?"

Several elder werewolf councilors strode forward, their faces dark with fury.

"Alpha! This is absolutely unacceptable!"

"The ritual can only be completed by the Luna alone! This is the Moon Goddess's law—an iron rule written into our blood!"

"Allowing an outsider to touch the core of the ritual isn't just overstepping—it's blasphemy against the Moon Goddess!"

Liam raised his hand. A surge of Alpha pressure spread outward, forcefully suppressing the uproar.

He didn't look at the enraged elders. Instead, he looked straight at me, his gaze unfathomable. "Lily is your sister. You share the same blood. Letting her try once doesn't break the rules."

Doesn't break the rules?

I looked at Liam's face and suddenly found it absurd.

In his heart, what exactly were Lily and I to him?

"Fine." I looked away, gazing into the abyss below. My voice was flat, devoid of emotion. "Then we'll do it together. Let's not waste time."

I no longer cared what Liam chose to do. If he wanted to break the rules—if he wanted to hand everything over to someone else—that was his choice.

Just before I cut my fingertip and let my blood drip into the stone basin at the cliff's edge, Lily leaned close to my ear.

"Tania, do you know? Liam's heart has already left you. He promised me that soon, your position as Luna will be mine."

I ignored her whisper.

It didn't matter. I was about to leave anyway. Once I was gone, everything between the two of them would have nothing to do with me.

As I focused on completing the final step of the ritual, Lily, who was standing beside me, suddenly stumbled.

Amid a startled cry, she collided into my waist. A calculated force struck, and the ground vanished beneath my feet.

The world flipped upside down in an instant. A piercing rush of wind roared into my ears.

As my body plunged out of control, my flailing hand caught hold of a withered, skeletal tree branch stubbornly jutting out from a crack in the rock.

My body dangled in midair, suspended above a bottomless abyss by a single hand and a dead branch that could snap at any moment.

"Ah—!"

"Luna!"

The cliff erupted into chaos. Werewolves rushed to the edge in horror.

Liam's face changed instantly. Without the slightest hesitation, he charged forward, half his body leaning out over the precipice as he reached for me. His voice trembled with panic and fury I had never heard before.

"Tania! Give me your hand! Hold on—don't let go!"

At that moment, Lily let out a short, pitiful sob. As if the shock had drained all her strength, she staggered and collapsed softly into Liam's outstretched arm.

"Liam… I… I'm dizzy… I'm scared…"

Liam's arm stiffened for a split second.

Almost instinctively, he steadied the trembling Lily in his arms and stroked her head to comfort her.

"Don't be afraid. I'm here."

I watched their closeness in silence, my heart calmer than it had ever been.

In the deathly stillness, a sharp cracking sound came from the branch beneath my fingers.

As Liam's pupils shrank in shock, I released my grip of my own accord.

I leapt into the endless abyss.

That was fine.

This Luna title… and this hollow, deceitful mate bond… I wanted none of it anymore.

Liam froze for a split second, then let out a cold laugh."You think you can threaten me with a pup?"He stepped forward, looming over Lily from above, his gaze dark and ruthless."Deal with the pup in her womb."The order was given without the slightest hesitation.Lily's pupils shrank violently, her face turning deathly pale. "You—you wouldn't dare!"Liam didn't even look at her. "The next Alpha of this pack can only be born of Tania."Those words were the final straw, crushing Lily completely. She struggled wildly, screaming as she staggered backward, both hands clutching her abdomen in desperation."This is your pup! You'd really kill your pup? Do you really think Tania would forgive you and be willing to have your pup?"The guards stepped forward and seized her arms. Against the overwhelming difference in strength, her resistance looked futile and pitiful. Her fingernails scraped chaotic marks across the floor. Her cries echoed through the hall, yet not a shred of mercy

Liam lingered outside the Moruna Pack territory for a long time, yet never once found a chance to see me again. The barriers were tightly sealed. The patrol guards watched him with cold eyes. He didn't even have the right to step closer.Left with no choice, Liam could only retreat in humiliation and return alone to the Fallen Blood Pack. The moment he arrived, Lily rushed toward him eagerly, her tone intimate and clinging."Liam, where have you been these past few days? Ever since you were gone, I missed you so much I was going crazy."Liam lowered his gaze to look at her. That face—once capable of softening his heart and winning his blind trust—now looked nothing but glaringly false.Lily clearly didn't know yet that he had already uncovered everything she had done. The instant the evidence had been laid before him, Liam felt his heart collapse bit by bit, as though all flesh and blood had been hollowed out, leaving behind only a cold, empty shell.Where had he been when Tan

I shook my head, my tone so calm it was almost cold."Don't push all the blame onto someone else. When you were with Lily, didn't you enjoy it too?"The moment he heard my words, Liam's expression stiffened. Yet he stubbornly remained kneeling, even inching forward. His knees ground into the snow with a faint, gritty sound."Tania, our mate bond is still intact. It hasn't been severed."He looked up at me, his gaze obsessive and unyielding."Tania, you are destined to be my Luna."His words reminded me. After returning to the Moruna Pack, there had been too many things to deal with. I had actually forgotten, for a moment, that the bond between us still remained."It's fine." I lifted my eyes to him. "Once I sever the mate bond, we'll have nothing to do with each other anymore."Liam seemed to hear a joke. He suddenly let out a low laugh. The sound was piercing in the wind and snow."Sever our mate bond? Do you even know the price?"He stared at me, his tone firm and cruel. "T

My father held me in his arms and carried me out of the Fallen Blood Pack territory. As we left, there was absolute silence. Every member of the Fallen Blood Pack lowered their heads—no one dared step forward to stop us.After returning to the Moruna Pack, my father personally tended to my wounds. When he finally saw the injuries on my body, his fingers trembled visibly, and his eyes reddened in an instant."My poor daughter," his voice was hoarse, "you suffered so much in the Fallen Blood Pack. Why didn't you tell me?"This Alpha—who had spent his entire life as a fierce warrior and never once shown weakness—was crying in front of me.I lowered my lashes and didn't answer right away.Back when I had insisted on being with Liam, my father had actually opposed it. He said that a cross-pack union was never just about two people. Once I entered another pack's territory, there would inevitably be places he couldn't watch over, couldn't intervene in.He was afraid I would be wronged

At the first hint of gray light on the horizon, I dragged out the luggage I had packed long ago and prepared to leave. The door had barely opened when a blast of cold wind rushed in.Liam entered head-on, with Lily at his side. His gaze locked onto my suitcase, and his anger detonated instantly."So that's why you're leaving me," he sneered. "Turns out you've already hooked up with the Alpha of the rival Black Claw Pack."I froze, confusion and absurdity colliding. "What nonsense are you talking about?""Still pretending? If Lily hadn't told me, I'd still be kept in the dark."He raised his hand and flung several photos straight at my face. The sharp edges scraped my skin, carrying a cold sting. In the images, I was tightly held in the arms of the Alpha from the Fallen Blood Pack's enemy clan. The angle was suggestive. The posture was intimate."That's not real," I blurted out instinctively."The evidence is right in front of you—how do you expect me to believe you?" Liam ro

After an unknown stretch of time, footsteps echoed through the forest, drawing nearer.Liam pushed through the undergrowth. Moonlight revealed the panic that hadn't yet faded from his face, mingled with the wild relief of finding what he'd thought lost. He lunged toward me."Tania! Are you okay? Where are you hurt?!"He reached out to examine me, trying to confirm I was unharmed. Before his hands could touch me, I raised my arm and stopped him.I didn't respond. I turned away and walked alone toward the pack's hospital. After my wounds were treated, I returned to the house—so empty it felt suffocating—and packed the few belongings I had left.Just as I zipped my suitcase shut, the door burst open. Liam strode in and demanded without preamble, "You blocked our mind link? Why can't I sense you anymore?"So he'd finally noticed. I had done that long ago, of my own accord."Liam," I said, looking him in the eye. "Let's sever our mate bond.""Why?" He stepped forward instinctively
