LOGINSabrina’s Pov
The room fell silent. I didn’t look away, because for the first time since my world crumbled, my expression wasn’t broken.
Tucker stood by the door, his hand unmoving on Fiona’s waist, the other on the door handle as if he was trying to recall why he had walked in.
“Are you okay?” Nevan asked, his thumb brushing my bottom lip.
Tucker’s eyes followed the movement, his jaw locked as he watched how close we were.
Good. Let him watch, let him see everything.
“Get your hands off my wife!” he growled.
Nevan didn’t pull away, that was something I noticed. His hands were still on me, as if he wasn’t afraid of being seen with me. Like he had no intentions of pretending that everything was a mistake.
His eyes glinted with mischief as he slowly turned to face Tucker, “Well,” his tone was calm, too calm. “You have always had a flair for making a statement,” he winked at me.
My breath caught, my chest tightening as I stared at him, he was taking this more than I thought he would. Acting like he had been planned all along.
Tucker shut the door behind him, as if he didn’t want the world to see a lie that was cracking through the illusion. “What the hell are you thinking? Sabrina? In a fucking public place?”
His voice wasn’t raised. He didn’t look cold and detached.
I almost laughed. Now he had questions.
Now he needed answers.
“this…”I leaned into Nevan, my hand on his chest, feeling the calm yet thunderous heartbeat that resonated through me. “This is me moving on, choosing me.”
The words landed clean. Sharp just like his actions had hurt.
Fiona shifted from his touch, I could see the flicker in her eyes, a slight fear as she noticed the confidence that I eluded.
Trucker’s jaw tightened, his eyes on Nevan’s hand that hadn’t left my face, “You are still my wife!” he hissed.
I should applaud him for keeping his voice low. I guess he was slowly getting to understand how it feels to hide the pain.
“No, I was your wife.” I bit out. “But now, I am the woman you lost.”
Tucker growled, Nevan’s hand moved around my waist, a possessive hold that made me feel secure. “Who do you think you are?” Tucker hissed.
Nevan smiled, “The man who will love her, more than you could,”
“You think this will change anything?” Tucker hissed, his eyes gleaming with frustration. “Have you thought about what people will say? Have you even imagined what this would mean to you?”
I didn’t.
And maybe that was a good thing.
“They will move on, you have a woman you have been sleeping with, she can be the Luna,” I hissed, my glare on the woman who ruined my life.
Was it a ruin? Should it be considered a ruin?
I sat up straight, “Leave, Tucker, I will have my lawyers send the papers to you,” I said.
He let out a low laugh, “Do you think you will survive? You have nothing, no life…”
“She has me!” Nevan cut in.
My heart hadn’t stopped pounding in my chest, but this time it wasn’t from fear or pain. It was from something I haven't felt in a long time.
Control.
I was finally getting it back.
His eyes scanned my face, as if he was searching to find something. “You are going to regret this,” he said in a low tone.
There wasn’t any love in his eyes. No regret.
Just a man with a bruised ego.
“Leave,” my voice was cold, controlled as I stared at him.
Something dangerous flashed through his eyes, “Sabrina…”
“Leave, Tucker, there is nothing for you here,”
My tone was blunt, no hesitation, no softness.
He opened his mouth to speak, but Nevan beat him to it, “You heard her,” his voice dripping with authority.
Tucker left out a quiet scoff, shaking his head slightly, “This isn’t over,” he hissed, yanking the door open as he stormed out.
It wasn’t over, I knew that. Men like Tucker didn’t accept defeat.
Fiona followed him, lingering at the door as she looked at me with an unsure look on her face. When the door closed, I finally let out the breath that I was holding. A low chuckle rumbled through me, I did it. Not entirely but this was a start.
“Are you okay?” Nevan asked, he was asking that a lot.
I smiled, “Never better.” And I meant it. “Thank you for helping,” my voice cracked in the end.
“always.” He nodded. “The woman…”
“That is the mistress, the woman who has taken everything,” I muttered.
A tear rolled down my cheek, it wasn’t from pain, not in the way I was thinking. I felt free.
Nevam slowly pulled his hand from my waist, worry etched on his face as he stared at me, “Sabrina…”
“I am fine, I just… five years, five years Nevan and this is how it ends,” my voice cracked. “You didn’t have to,” I stared at him, wondering what was going to become of him now that he was in this war.
“I did.”
“he is going to come for you, he is going to…” My eyes widened, I wasn’t thinking straight, and now he was slowly getting into harm’s way.
He had that smile, “I would love to see him try.”
I shook my head, he had no idea about the kind of man Tucker was, about the people he had as allies. “I need to leave, I need to go somewhere that he won’t find me,” my voice rambled on.
He grabbed my hand, “You are safe…”
“I am not. Tucker isn’t letting this go without a fight,” I whispered, my fear finally known.
He sighed, “he won’t get you…”
“How are you sure about that?”
He stared at me, something unreadable in his eyes. “Marry me, Sabrina.”
Sabrina’s PovIt has been two days and several doctors’ visits since the accident, but for some reason, Nevan isn’t convinced that I am fit to walk. Instead, he motions my active times, literally keeping me wrapped in bubble wrap. I wasn’t complaining, or anything, but with how careful he is with me, one would think that I am an egg, too fragile to let loose.“Are you sure that you are up for it? I can understand if you want to stay back,” he whispered, his tone dripping with worry as he stared at me.My hand grabbed his, a soft smile forming on my face at the attention he was giving me, the alpha and their partners were meant to be arriving today and for some reason, Nevan thinks it would be better if I rested my leg than stand to welcome them. Cute, but for me, I wasn’t going to let that happen. I did this, I needed to see how well everything had turned out for me.“I want to.” He stared at me as if he were about to argue. But I was faster, “I did most of the organising, I need to b
Nevan’s PovI looked at the men who sat before me, hoping that I looked like I was actually interested in half of the things that they were talking about. I would like to say that I cared, but well, I couldn’t lie to myself. My mind was on Sabrina, I couldn’t even imagine what she was doing. I forced back a smile when I thought about how fuzzy she had been earlier today. Almost causing a world end just because the clock had stopped at 3 am.“Alpha Nevan, are you listening to us?” Elder Aaron hissed, his glare fixed on me.I fixed my face, straightening my form as I looked at him, matching his intensity, “Of course,” I said in a low tone, warning him to not push it.He scoffed, “If you were, you wouldn’t be agreeing to having the moon fang alpha here,” he hissed, his irritation clearly evident.I stared at the list that was placed on the table, “It is an alpha conclave, if he must, he should.”He didn’t like the answer, I knew that, I could see it in the way his jaw had locked, his gla
Sabrina’s PovI was never a superstitious person. But there are little details to things that always made me feel cautious. “What are you staring at?” Nevan’s voice muttered behind me as he held my shoulders giving me a gentle squeeze.“Today is going to be a bad one,” I whispered, feeling the dread sink in my stomach as I stared at the wall clock that had stopped working at exactly 3 am. ‘the devils hour.” Just like my mother had always said.Nevan sighed, not the sound that comes with frustration, but the one that comes with worry, “Why do you think so? Did one of the vendors flake?” he asked.I shook my head, turning my attention towards him, “You are going to think that I am crazy,” I whispered. His brows furrowed, “crazy? Why?”I looked back at the clock that wasn’t moving, “Look at the time, the clock stopped working at exactly 3 am, you know what that means don’t you?” I asked. He didn’t, I could see it in his eyes, but he was too polite to tell me that I was reaching. That I s
Sabrina’s PovWe had just one week until the alpha’s conclave. The days sound like we had time, but in reality, there was no time. One thing that I have learnt, occasions like this always have something lacking, one wrong arrangement and everything goes a thousand steps backwards.“Madam, I have the art vendors on the line, what time should I tell them?” Isabelle asked, staring at me with a soft look on her face.“An hour…no, two hours before time,” I said, walking away from her as I tried to confirm the seating arrangement. Isabelle was helpful, more helpful than anyone that I have worked with. She made this easy. As if she understood the vision, I had with the seating charts. “A good seat partner does nothing but give the set experience.” She had echoed those words when I said it.“This looks good, can you switch this alpha? They have a land dispute, you don’t want to start a brawl do you,” I said with a smile.“Of course, I didn’t know that.” I didn’t blame her, I had been privy to
Sabrina’s PovIt was easier to read, than actually send the rest of the day thinking about what Mabel’s words meant. But the brain wasn’t one to keep things hidden for long, no matter how many times I tried to avoid it, it always found a way to creep into my mind. The sound of the door creaking caught my attention, my eyes found Nevan, leaning against the doorframe as he smiled at me with gentleness in his eyes. The book dropped on the floor with a loud thud, “How long have you been standing there?”He smiled walking deeper into the room, “Long enough not to know what you aggressively chew your bottom lip when you are thinking,” he said in a low tone, his hands grabbing mine as he slowly brought me to my feet. “How was your day?” he muttered; his eyes fixed on me.Heat crawled up my neck, the intensity of his stare making me feel like I should hide. “Nothing much.” It was a lie. Between things about Mabel, I couldn’t help but wonder what he was doing. “How was your day?” I asked, tryi
Sabrina’s PovThe gloominess of the day didn’t help the thoughts that plagued my brain. I couldn’t stop thinking about Milo and what would happen with the prolonged time we had to be apart. He wasn’t here and there was a part of me that hated every second of it.“Madam, is everything alright?” Isabelle asked, walking into the room with a slight look of concern on her face.I shook my head, trying to put on a brave smile, but with the way her eyes narrowed, I knew she could see through the lies that I was about to say. “I am fine….”Shen moved closer, pulling a chair out as she settled in on it, “If I may,” her voice was low. “I have seen you, watched you even.” She said with a soft smile. “And I know when you are not fine, so I am going to ask again, what is the problem, madam?”I stared at her, what was she going to think of me if I held her? It wasn’t just about the thought, it was the fact that everything she would think of me would be the truth. I was the person, a mother that had
Sabrina’s Pov“The doctor is here for you,” the maid informed me just as I dropped the spoon. It was a routine now, eat, doctor’s visit. And then I spent the rest of the day waiting on Nevan to come home. But this was better to follow than actually having to think about the explosion that was happe
Sabrina’s Pov“Are you excited to be getting discharged finally?” the nurse hadn’t stopped smiling as she stared at me.I was. Two weeks here. Two weeks of constant probing, bandage changing. Drugs. I was done.“So ready, please,” I said with a smile on my face.I tried to ignore it, the clench in m
Sabrina’s Pov“Marry me, Sabrina.”Simple words that hung in the air like a loaded gun. He couldn’t be serious, and yet when I stared at his face, I saw nothing but seriousness in those eyes. A look that felt too familiar. A man that I once….I shook my head, I wasn’t going to do this, not now, not
Sabrina’s PovA FEW DAYS LATER“Come on, you have to eat more,” Nevan said, his tone playful as he held the spoon in front of my lips. “Just this last spoon and we are done, I won’t even try to feed you anymore,” he said.I hardened my glare, “That is what you said the last time, and yet here we ar
