LOGINSabrina’s Pov
“What…” my voice faltered before I could steady it. “What are you doing here?”
He didn’t move from his spot, his arms folded over his chest as he watched me, “I saved you,” he said simply.
Of course. Of course, the moon goddess would do this, fate had a twisted sense of humor and I was just the butt of the joke.
The silence stretched between us, heavy, loaded, filled with years of things unsaid, emotions unresolved.
He stepped closer, too close, his scent filling my lungs, reminding me of how life had been when we were young, happy….
“You haven’t changed a bit,” he muttered.
My chest squeezed, I hated the familiarity in his tone, the way it was easy for him to make me feel comforted in his presence.
I let out a soft breath, “That isn’t true, I am different now,” I argued weakly.
“It is,” he smiled. “You still run when things fall apart.”
That hit harder than it should.
“I… I wasn’t thinking clearly,” I whispered.
“You should, you have always had the habit of thrusting head on, without thinking,” he muttered.
I rolled my eyes, a tiny smile forming on my lips, why was it this easy to slip into the familiarity? “That sounds like something you used to complain a lot,”
Silence stretched between us. I had unlocked something I shouldn’t have.
I cleared my throat, “I am… thank you, thank you for helping me,” I said.
His gaze didn’t stray from my face, his eyes still on me, “You don’t have to thank me, anyone would have done it,” he replied.
I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat.
His eyes lingered on the IV drip in my hand, “That was a scary minute,” he whispered. He touched my hand, “When I saw you…” he shook his head, “Don’t you scare me like that again,”
Scare him. Again.
Why was he talking like…?
His expression softened just a fraction, “You are a Luna, now,” he muttered.
I was. But I wasn’t ready to talk about that yet.
“And you are an alpha,” I muttered.
He smiled, “We got our dreams, didn’t we?”
My chest tightened. A painful truth I didn’t want to admit.
He shook his head, “How are you feeling? That… the impact had been crazy,” he muttered.
Maybe he didn’t notice, and I wasn’t ready to point it out, but somehow, his hand was on mine, his thumb rubbing soothing circles at the back of my palm.
“Like I had been hit by a truck?” A small smile formed on my lips.
He snorted, “You were,”
I didn’t like how everything felt stiff. As if we couldn’t… I wanted to move past the awkwardness, but how are we going to achieve that?
“What happened?” His voice was soft.
I didn’t know how to say it. How to tell him that I had failed.
Ruined my life to stay in a marriage that had burned me in the end.
I shook my head; I wasn’t ready to say that yet. “Maybe later,” I forced a smile. “Tell me about you,”
He nodded, smiling softly as he talked about what he had been doing. It was easier to listen, pretend that my world wasn’t crumbling as he spoke to me.
He raised his hand, letting it hang in the air between us. I didn’t pull away when he touched the little scar by the corner of my lip. My body trembled slightly from the touch. I leaned into him.
“You saved me.”
He did.
He just didn’t know how. If he hadn’t taken me from the scene, if didn’t, I wasn’t sure I would have fought for it.
“You will always be worth saving.”
Tears formed in my eyes as I stared at him, “Why did you…” my voice cracked. “You were at the party, weren’t you?”
It wasn’t a question.
He smiled, “I couldn’t stay away, even if it meant seeing you from a distance,” he whispered.
My mind hadn’t played tricks on me when I saw a shadow that looked like him.
“You never smiled in any of the pictures, you looked…”
“Sad, broken, rejected?” I filled in the words.
He shook his head, “lost.”
My chest clenched, and I slowly pulled away from his touch. “Aren’t we all?” I whispered.
“Talk to me, what is going on?”
He was worried, I could see it in his eyes, it wasn’t the pretentious act Tucker and I had to put in place, letting everyone think we had something perfect. Too special to be broken.
“I…” how was I going to say it? “my hus…. My ex-husband has been cheating on me.”
I looked up at him, I wasn’t sure of what I was expecting, that maybe he would laugh. Or look at me with a smug look on his face.
“Sabrina,” his voice was low, almost as if he was feeling pity for the words that he had heard.
My eyes caught a movement by the door, a silhouette, a shape I knew too well. Tucker was out there, but there was another figure beside him. Fiona.
He brought her, even when he knew how I felt. The door slowly opened, Nevan unaware of the chaos that burned within me. Fiona was the first to walk in, her face in a smug look. Tucker was behind her, his hand on her lower back.
Something cold settled beside me, deliberate.
I looked at Nevan, my anger slowly exploding through me. I did something I would never have thought about.
My hand reached out, grabbing his collar, just as Tucker raised his head, his gaze taking in the moment.
I kissed Nevan. Slow, steady, loud enough to make a statement.
For a split second, he froze, then his hand grabbed my jaw, his grip tightening lightly as he deepened the kiss.
The air felt charged as I slowly pulled away, just enough to breathe. He wasn’t wrong, I was always one for the drama.
My eyes finally looked up, staring at Tucker.
This time, I wasn’t the one broken.
Sabrina’s PovThe room fell silent. I didn’t look away, because for the first time since my world crumbled, my expression wasn’t broken.Tucker stood by the door, his hand unmoving on Fiona’s waist, the other on the door handle as if he was trying to recall why he had walked in.“Are you okay?” Nevan asked, his thumb brushing my bottom lip.Tucker’s eyes followed the movement, his jaw locked as he watched how close we were.Good. Let him watch, let him see everything.“Get your hands off my wife!” he growled.Nevan didn’t pull away, that was something I noticed. His hands were still on me, as if he wasn’t afraid of being seen with me. Like he had no intentions of pretending that everything was a mistake. His eyes glinted with mischief as he slowly turned to face Tucker, “Well,” his tone was calm, too calm. “You have always had a flair for making a statement,” he winked at me.My breath caught, my chest tightening as I stared at him, he was taking this more than I thought he would. Sabrina’s PovPain. That was the first thing I felt when I opened my eyes. Everywhere, sharp, unending.Air. I needed to breathe. My chest rose and fell rapidly, each uneven movement filled with pain as I struggled to get my lungs to function like they usually do.The smell that hit me was pungent, slamming me straight into a reality I didn’t know. The pristine smell of disinfectants filled my nostrils. The memory came fast, throbbing and strong. I winced, closing my eyes as the memory of the lights, the loud honking, the crash, everything flooded through me violently. My stomach squeezed violently as I tried to block the memory. My fingers grabbing the bedsheets weakly feeling the strain on my wrist. My eyes opened slowly, “oh god….”I whispered.I tried to move my hand, but a stinging caused me to pause. There was an IV connected to the back of my hand.“I am… I’m…” I couldn’t get the words out, not yet.The door creaked open, the sound drawing my attention to the side, and a lady wa
Sabrina’s Pov“Done with what exactly?” he asked, dragging out the words slowly. staring at me with a confused look on his face.I didn’t look away, I needed him to see it in my eyes, “with you, I am done with you. I want out,” my voice trembled at the last words. For a second, there was silence, then he let out a scoff, disbelief dancing in his eyes, “You can’t walk away, you are the Luna, what do you think the people…”“The people aren’t there to see you cheat!” I roared, my voice cutting him off. “They haven’t been through it; they have no idea what it feels like to be sidelined in their own home.”“So, you are giving up on your role?” he huffed.“Call it what you want, but I am done with all of it,” I bit back, holding his gaze. “I am divorcing you, by morning, you will be hearing from my lawyers.”That landed differently, I saw it in the subtle shift in his expression which was the first crack in his control.“And what about Milo?” he asked immediately, his tone hardening as he w
Sabrina’s Pov“The guests have arrived." my voice quivered, the sound startling them.Fiona let out a scream, scrambling immediately, reaching for her clothes, as if she had any dignity left to gather. But Tucker? My husband? He didn’t rush.Of course, he didn’t.He stepped back slowly, like nothing had happened. as if I hadn’t just walked in on something that shattered everything that I thought I understood about my life. He adjusted his shirt with a sense of calmness, completely ignoring the chaos that was tearing me apart.Fiona rushed past me, her head down in shame. A few minutes ago, it had been thrown back in pleasure, forgetting that he was my husband.“What are you doing in my office?” his voice was low, the words hitting me harder than they should.“What?” my voice barely above a whisper as I stared at him.My chest tightened, this wasn’t just about betrayal, it was the fact that it meant nothing to him. Tears lined the walls of my eyes as I watched him.His eyes met mine ag
