“You look good. Stop tugging on them.”

“It feels like they are too big on me.”

Even the smallest clothes he had were at least 2 sizes bigger than me, and it took lots of adjustments for them to get any form of proper fitting on my body.

“I'll take you shopping once we are done here, but for now, what you have on looks good on you.”

I immediately shook my head.

“There's no need for that, I'll just go get my things where I left them.”

He cocked his head to the side, both brows raised.

“Do you think that's a good idea?”

Before I could respond, an old man walked up to us.

“You are here, sir.”

“James” to my surprise, he pulled the man into a side hug, “I should have been here yesterday, but I had important business to deal with.”

He glanced at me as he said that and I felt my cheeks grow hot. Why did that feel strangely intimate?

“This is Isabel, she's with me today.”

“Ohh” a smile formed on James’ face as he took my hand in a soft handshake, “it's a pleasure to meet you, ma’am. Are you interested in the farm? We've got lots of things for you to see and lots of work to be done. My wife would be more than happy to show you around and get your help.”

“No, she won’t-”

“Actually, I'd love to look around and help.” I cut in and made sure to avoid Desmond's eyes. I just can't linger by his side while he does his work.

“Let me show you to her. I'll be right back.”

Holding my hand firmly in his, he led me to a group of women huddled over a table together and cutting what seems to be like cabbage.

“They are trying to make Kimchi, the company is thinking of producing it for people who are far from home but Miss the taste of kimchi.”

“That's… beautiful.”

“Who are you holding now, James?” An old but vibrant woman who seemed to be in charge asked, her voice stern.

James immediately handed me over to her then whispered something that made her eyes light up.

“I see!”

They both exchanged looks then James walked away, leaving me looking all confused.

“Welcome, beautiful one. What's your name?”

“Isabel.”

“Such a pretty name for an angel like you.” She cooed and even pinched my cheeks before she turned to the other ladies who were now looking at us with curiosity.

“Everyone, this is Isabel. Sir Desmond brought her here himself!” she said that like it was meant to be some sort of big deal and the way the ladies’ eyes lit up, I guessed it was.

They all began to introduce themselves to me and before I knew it, I was seated and under some sort of interrogation as I helped them out with their work.

“Is that his clothes?” One of them asked, finally noticing after hundreds of questions had been thrown my way.

I felt my cheeks grow hot as I nodded and they all slapped their hands over their mouths.

“What? I had nothing to wear and he offered his.”

They exchanged glances then one of them began to speak, but her words never made it out of her mouth. She instead continued to stare at something behind me, and when I turned, Evelyn stood right behind me, wearing my clothes.

“This is where he brought you? After the great display yesterday?”

“Excuse me,” I muttered and immediately left the table to meet with her.

“What is that supposed to mean and what are you doing here?”

She took a couple of steps back once I stood a couple of inches away from her, and my chest squeezed. She looked disgusted, and to make matters worse, she pinched her nose.

“What is that smell? And what are you wearing?”

I sniffed the air but all I could smell was the cabbage I was helping them cut a while ago and it didn't even smell bad.

“That's my question actually, why are you wearing my clothes?”

She glanced down at the outfit she had on, then at me.

“Oh this? Scott said it was okay for me to wear them. He said he bought them so they are not exactly yours.”

“What?”

My eyes took her in and my guts twisted. The dress was more of her size than it was mine. He bought it with her in mind. It was never truly mine.

“I see.” It was pointless being hurt over the truth I've been running from. And I hate to admit it, but I might have to take Desmond's shopping offer up. “Well, I'll leave you to whatever it is that you are here for.”

Her voice stopped me in my tracks as I was about to walk away.

“Scott has asked me to marry me.”

She cannot possibly be serious.

“What did you just say?”

“Yesterday evening, he asked me to marry him.”

My head throbbed and my heart was beating so fast I feared it would suddenly stop working.

The guilt in her voice already let me know where this was going, yet I asked.

“And what was your response?”

“I know you were there that night before your wedding.”

I spun around so fast to face her, I thought I'd get a whiplash.

“You knew?”

“Yes, I saw you when you walked in. I thought you were going to realize you were about to ruin your sister's happiness and change your mind, but you went ahead with the marriage.”

My head began to spin at how ridiculous everything was sounding.

She told me she wanted to travel to Italy for art school, she couldn't leave with the debts our parents left. It was transferred to my name, every debt and our chance of paying was one of us getting married to Scott Blackwell, and in this case, it had to be me.

I was the one with the debts in her name.

I didn't marry just for love. It was also a sacrifice.

“You cannot be serious, Evelyn.”

“I am. You chose your happiness three years ago, and I'm choosing mine now. I'm getting married to Scott before the year is over.”

  • Craving the Wrong Brother   Hundred and Twenty One

IsabelWe decided to get married at night in the garden he proposed to me in. I decided actually, and Desmond just went along with it. There is one thing I have wanted for the longest time and that was to dance with my husband beneath the night sky with the stars shining down on us.“You look so beautiful.” Cara said. She did my makeup for me and helped with every other thing, alongside Helen. They hadn't been surprised when we popped out and announced that we were going to have our wedding here in Maldives as well. They had been thrilled instead. They did the running round and all I had to do was decide from the choices they picked out.“You think?”“We know so,” Helen confirmed and my smile got wider. “Take a look at yourself and have some time, you'll soon need to walk down the aisle.” They brought the veil, then they left.Once I was alone, I exhaled softly and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I'd chosen an A line soft ivory wedding gown with very thin sleeves, it was exactly

Isabel“Has it shown yet??” I asked Desmond, who was keeping his eyes on the three pregnancy tests that I just peed on. He shook his head and I continued my pacing. We had snuck out in the middle of celebrating the wedding and my new engagement because he noticed how worried I was. He drove us to a convenience store and picked out three pregnancy kits for me to use.Now we were back in our hotel room and my mind was running amok. What would I do if it turns out that I'm actually pregnant? I placed my hand on my belly and rubbed it softly. Was I ready to be a mother? To carry a pregnancy to term? “What do you want the answer to be?” He leaned off the counter and faced me, “would you like it if it comes out positive?"“Do you want me to be completely honest?”“Always.”“I'm freaking terrified, Desmond. So very scared, I don't know if I'm ready for this… I really…” my throat began to burn from the unshed tears. “I don't know.”He pulled me in and just held me, quietly. I remained in his

IsabelWhen I heard Desmond call out for me, I stiffened, wishing I could just disappear and return to the wedding ground or maybe just have the ability to turn back time so I could go back when my mind was nudging at me to just go back inside, but I wanted to wait it out a bit more and see if I'd look and feel a bit better. That didn't turn out so well.“Isabel, what happened?” I forced myself to smile as I shook my head. “I'm fine, I just got a little emotional watching our new couple but I did not want to rain on their parade so I came out to calm down.He narrowed his eyes suspiciously at me then he shook his head. “You are not telling me everything, what happened? Why are you out here?”“I already …”“And don't lie to me, or insult how much I actually know you. Tell me what happened?”“It's ridiculous”"I still want to know”"But, I'm fine now”"Isabel, come on. Talk to me”My eyes searched his face trying to find a way to wiggle out of this. How do I tell him that I came out he

DesmondSubconsciously, my hand went to my pockets again where the ring has been in and where my hand has been reaching since the day started. Given Isabel's words yesterday, I didn't want her to accidentally stumble on it and start to feel guilty, so I decided to carry it around. The plan had been to propose after her birthday, I've had this ring for nearly a year now and it was funny now to think about. From the very beginning, even when things were unsure, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Isabel, and when she agreed to my girlfriend proposal, I went ahead and bought the engagement ring because I knew there was no way on Earth I was going to let her go.I searched 5 different stores before I finally decided to have one made from scratch for her, something I was sure she wouldn’t mind looking at every now and then. But ever since I purchased the ring, the timing never felt right and now, it feels like it will never be right.I was not going to let Isabel go,ever, but

  • Craving the Wrong Brother   Hundred and Seventeen

Isabel Cara made the most beautiful bride I'd seen in a while. It was clear that she was still a bit hungover, but it didn't cause even a dent on her.She walked down with aisle with grace I'd never seen before. And her eyes were pinned only on one person, Denzel, whose eyes have turned watery and a few teardrops manage to escape as well. They both looked so good.He immediately took her hand once she was close enough. The officiator began the proceedings and soon they were exchanging their vows.My eyes searched for and finally found Desmond across the room as they were exchanging the vows, and I found him already looking at me. His lips stretched into a smile as we made eye contact, and my cheeks heated up a bit.Last night, I said I was glad he didn't propose to me, but now, a huge part of me wished we were the ones before the altar right now exchanging our rings and vows.I was already certain he was the only one I wanted to do life with, so why did I say that?“...you may now ki

Isabel“The dress is beautiful, “ I said as I did a 360 spin in front of the mirror. We landed about 30 minutes ago in the Maldives and our first stop was at a boutique where I changed into one of the most gorgeous floral dresses I'd ever seen. Desmond already had it picked out.“How did you know I'd like this?” I asked Desnond who was looking at me and nodding his head in appreciation.“You are my woman, that should be enough explanation.” My belly fluttered at his response, getting on my tiptoes, I placed a very light kiss on his cheek.“Thank you.”“You don't have to thank me.” He wore the biggest smile on his face, “but you can kiss me a lot though.” “Don't be a tease.”He chuckled and gave me his arm. I quickly Intertwined it with mine and he led us outside, where the new Rolls Royce he purchased a few weeks ago was already waiting for us.“I'm guessing you're leading me to where the actual surprise is? what should I be expecting?”“How did you guess that?’”I rolled my eyes an
