XXIV. The Dead vs The Living

Ryder felt something at his back. He turned around, only to see wooden walls.

Ryder was just about to let it slide, not until he heard that familiar voice--a voice that had been hunting him for a year ever since the civil war ended.

"Ryder."

He turned again, still finding nothing. He felt a chill in his bones.

After he left the hospital, he found an inn. He knew that the old man wouldn't let him go tomorrow even if he was discharged because the old man was already making plans of calling the Triad to arrange for them to come and get him.

That night, de dreamt that old man Nysou was scolding him in his dream.

''I thought you had already learned your lesson,'' he had said. ''Nothing good comes out of chasing the dead. How many days have you already searched? Surely you must have known already by now that I was not the one who sent that yellow report about seeing Fhae. I say that someone is making up the reports.''
