Chapter 4

Fransisca's POV

"Damn it! I won't waste any more of my time waiting! Good luck to all of you! You won't get Alexander's handsomeness if that slut is still with him!"

The only girl left among the three who arrived before me, eventually had to leave. Now, I'm alone in this waiting room. The clock on the wall shows three in the afternoon, and I've been waiting for more than seven hours.

Honestly, I'm tired, but what else can I do except wait? Besides, the others have already left, leaving just me. All this time, my heart has been anxious seeing the other three girls. They seemed educated and capable of being the secretary to a well-known young CEO. And me? Just a flower seller, plus the fact that I accidentally bumped into Alexander earlier. I'm afraid that will be the judgment and lead to rejection.

"Well, well, looks like you don't need to bother choosing, Honey. Look who we have here? The careless one who didn't use her eyes properly earlier."

I turn towards the source of the voice and find that Alexander has returned with his beautiful girlfriend. Instantly, I stand up and bow my head.

Alexander takes the folder from my hand, furrowing his brow as he reads my resume.

"Flower seller? Is that the only job you can do?" His girlfriend's voice is truly hurtful. Snide, sarcastic, and incredibly condescending.

"Alright, I'll accept you to work here. Starting tomorrow, you can begin. There's a lot you need to learn, par--."

Alexander's sentence is cut off when his girlfriend pulls him into his office.

It takes a few minutes for me to process Alexander's words; I still can't believe he's accepting me as his secretary. But there's another concern: I'm afraid his girlfriend might not agree with the decision.

After all, they still haven't come out, and Alexander's sentence being abruptly cut off further strengthens my belief that his girlfriend doesn't like my presence.

"Hey, you! Come here!"

I startle at the appearance of Alexander's girlfriend. I'll need to get used to her shrill voice.

"Yes, Mrs."

"Mrs. Smith, you should know who your boss is, right?"

She turns around, leaving the scent of her exquisite perfume lingering in the air. I follow her into Alexander's office. The room, dominated by white, looks exquisite, and the portrait of 'Mrs. Smith' stands out on the wall behind Alexander's desk.

"Take a seat here." Alexander points to the chair in front of him.

"Move faster!" I'm pushed by his girlfriend. Frankly, I'm starting to get annoyed with this blonde woman.

"Are you annoyed?" Alexander asks.

I glance at 'Mrs. Smith,' who's entered the room in the corner. I shake my head, saying, "No, Sir."

"Good, because by becoming my secretary, you'll also have to be Jessica's assistant." Alexander then hands me a phone. "This is my secretary's dedicated phone. I want you to contact the three people I've noted down, schedule a meeting with me for tomorrow. The meeting slots are available from 10 AM to 1 PM only, each meeting should be scheduled for 45 minutes, and I need lunch at exactly 12 noon. Do it."

I swallow hard; luckily my memory is strong enough to capture all of Alexander's words. I quickly follow his directions, and in less than five minutes, I've sent three messages containing the meeting schedules to the designated numbers.

"I've done it, Sir. From 10:05 AM to 10:45 AM, you'll have a meeting with Mr. Joey, 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM with Mrs. Andrea, and 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM with Mrs. Bella."

Alexander raises an eyebrow, nodding slowly and saying, "I did mention exactly 12 noon, when you should have scheduled my lunch from 12 PM to 12:30 PM. You could have split the meeting into two sessions, 15 minutes before 12, and the rest at 12:30, but it's okay. I understand, you've never worked as a secretary before and don't know my habits. I'm sure selling flowers doesn't require time management like this, right?"

"Honey, are you done? The designer was waiting for me to fit the clothes I ordered." Jessica appears with a sultry voice, quite different from when she addresses me.

"Well, Fransisca, welcome to my company. In this binder, everything about your tasks and the company background is written. You need to understand it. And to test your discipline and dedication to working here, you must arrive at 6 AM tomorrow and clean the entire fifth floor. Understand? By 8 AM, you should be tidy and have breakfast prepared for me in this room."

I nod, but there's one thing he hasn't mentioned yet: Alexander hasn't talked about my salary in this office.

"Sorry, Sir. But, I'd like to know about the salary I'll be receiving."

"For the first month, I'll be observing your dedication. I'll give you a value of $2000. If I find you capable of being my secretary, in the second month, you'll receive $3500. So, for now, you need to leave with Jessica. Like I mentioned earlier, apart from being my secretary, you're her assistant too."

I shift my gaze to Jessica; she seems to be giving me a sly smile and says, "Get used to moving quickly. I'll be the one to decide whether you'll stay or not!"

Jessica gives Alexander an affectionate kiss, then nudges me and quickly steps out of the room. We enter the elevator, and all the employees around the elevator immediately lower their heads in respect of Jessica's presence. Even those inside the elevator exit. It seems Jessica doesn't want to share the elevator with other employees.

"So, do you have any other motives? I won't pretend, your face is attractive enough. You could've worked as a stripper or whatever it takes to make a lot of money."

I furrow my brow. "What do you mean, Mrs. Smith?"

She gives me a sharp look and grips my face. "Young women like you, surely have their own motives. I'm not stupid; Alexander is a target for many women out there. You need to understand, even though you're attractive, you can't beat me, and I won't allow you to seduce him. Understand that!"

"I--."

"Ssh!" Jessica releases her grip on me and doesn't let me speak. "Don't give any excuses. Just prove that you're not someone after Alexander, flower girl!"
