AMELIA'S POV

The black limo rolled to a stop in front of the towering gate, which parted to reveal my two-story manor.

Its white walls, accented with touches of brown, glowed under the soft light of the lamps, casting shadows on the animal-shaped flowers and lilies that adorned every corner of the grounds.

The car parked near the porch, and the driver hurried to open the back door.

I stepped out at the same time as Lucas Bennett, not sparing him a glance as I made my way to the porch and entered the house.

The interior lights were dim, casting a quiet hush over everything.

I climbed the stairs to my room, my heels clicking softly against the wood.

Once inside, I tossed my purse onto the bed and headed straight for the bathroom.

I turned on the faucet, letting hot water fill the round tub, and began to undress.

My gown slipped to the floor, pooling at my feet, and I stepped out of it, trying to keep my mind blank.
