ELLE

When I woke up, I had venom dripping through my veins and Sophie sensed it when I walked out of the house.

I was taking my anger and guilt for what happened to Milo and needed somewhere or a bunch of fools to dump them on and I knew just the perfect people for that.

Sophie was quiet beside me as we rode the elevator to the top floor where the meeting would be held. She didn’t even try to give me any of her usual cheery optimism and the only sound was the soft ding of each floor ticking by as I adjusted the sleeves of my ivory blazer.

“Do you need coffee?” Sophie asked quietly and I eyed the cup in her hand and shook my head.

I didn’t need coffee this morning.I needed blood but since that would be illegal, I could settle for some torment.

The elevator opened and I stepped out, ready to burn some rot.

“They’re already inside,” Sophie murmured, adjusting her glasses as she checked her tablet when we got tot the door.

I pushed the door open and stepped inside. Twelve shareholders

ELLE“I’ll see you at home?” Theon murmured, hands around my waist as he whispered. Don’t ask my how we ended up like this because I wouldn’t be able to tell you either. “Hmm” I hummed. It was fruitless to tell him to keep his distance because he wouldn’t listen. Theon leaned down and kissed me deeply. I sighed in contentment. Malice lingers in the distance but the line was slowly blurring.Theon lingered. He said he had something to do but it looked like he didn’t want to leave. I knew he wanted me to ask about where he was headed but I didn’t ask because I didn’t care. At least that was what I told myself. But I did. But I’ll never show him that.“Are you free now?” Sophie poked her head through the door after a while with a smirk on her face that made me roll my eyes. “What do you want?” I hissed playfully. She pushed the door open with a wide grin “I know we hate Theon but he is such a gentleman” she cooed and I glared at her. “Don’t be fooled, Sophie. I still hate him” I

ELLE The sound of my phone buzzing on the nightstand pulled me out of sleep. The familiar weight of Theon pressed against me had become a norm. I rubbed the sleep away from my eyes with the back of my hand. My eyes caught the time. 1 am. Who would be calling by this time? I wondered as I picked the phone when it started buzzing again. I frowned when I saw it was Jeremy. I didn’t have him working on anything urgent at the moment so dread filled my body as I thought of the only other possibility he would be calling in the middle of the night. Milo. With that thought, I snatched the phone off the bed and went outside the balcony. That way Theon wouldn’t hear my conversation and I could keep an eye on the bed to know when he woke up. “Jer? What’s wrong?” I asked as soon as I swiped the call button to answer. There was worry in my face as my brows drew together in a concerned frown. “Is everything okay over there?” He sighed and my worry doubled “It’s Milo” he finally said an

AUTHOR’S POV“I don’t get it,” Malone spoke up after a while of silence. Jeremy had gotten Milo to calm down and the little boy was drifting in and out of sleep.“Get what?” Jeremy asked with a frown as he adjusted Milo so he could be comfortable. “If the little dude misses his mother, why don’t you just take him to her? I’m sure you are more than capable of buying the child a plane ticket” Malone asked.“I wish it was that simple” Jeremy spoke softly as his fingers gently combed Milo’s hair to make sure he was comfortable. “It’s complicated” he said looking at Malone who was watching him. “Everything about you is complicated, Jer Bear” Malone chuckled, and Jeremy laughed. “Tell me about it” he said but he wasn’t complaining. He loved his life and was grateful for every moment Elle gave him love and a home. Ever since she gave him her last name, Elle had never made him feel like he was adopted. She loved him like she loved Milo. Like they shared the same blood and that was why he

AUTHOR’S POVJeremy checked his time. It was barely 1pm and he couldn’t wait to go home. He had told his sister he didn’t need to go to Uni. He was fine sitting behind a computer screen and finding information and bad guys for her, but Ellie wouldn’t hear it.She wanted him educated and getting a job. Sometimes she would joke about him taking over her investment firm, but he made it clear he didn’t want anything to do with managing a business and that was how he ended up reading computer technology which he could manage. “Hi, Jeremy” People greeted as he walked down the hallways of the University. Jeremy could say he was pretty popular since people always greeted him or wanted to shake his hands and pretend they were cool anytime he walked past. “Hey” He greeted back as he strolled out of the building with practice ease, his signature boyish smile which drew more attraction. Jeremy was like any other boy his age, he loved fashion and loved wearing good clothes and his sister was mo

AUTHOR’S POV Amanda eyed her phone with irritation and mild fear. It was the fourth time the stupid thing had vibrated for the fourth time in less than ten minutes, and she didn’t need to turn the phone over to know who was calling. The phone stopped and picked up again almost immediately and Amanda felt like ripping her hair out from frustration. She turned the phone over and saw the screen flashing with the same dreaded name. Evil bitch. The name she had used to save the woman who gave birth to her. That woman didn’t deserve to be given the title of a mother. “Why is she still calling?” Amanda muttered angrily, “I already told her I would let her know when I had the money. Did I tell them to bury their nose and ass so deep into debt?” She silenced the call again, but she knew it was useless. It didn’t matter how many times she declined their calls, they would call again, alternating between her father and mother phones. There was one time they called with a strange number a

ELLEEliza’s laughter rang through the garden as she scrambled away from my tickling fingers. We had set up a small picnic in the middle of the garden with the blanket on the grass and a basket with all her favourite food.“You are not playing fair, Ellie” she pointed an accusing but short finger at me as a pout framed her face after she recovered from the tickles. I raised both hand innocently as a chuckle escaped my lips “But I am a villain. Bad people don’t play fair”She giggled and threw herself at me “I guess so” she flashed me a bigger smile “but I won this time since you cheated” “Nope” I shook my head “I won fair and square. There were no rules” Eliza huffed and plopped down beside me. She reached for her juice and took a bit sip before handing the cup back to me. I groaned as she wrapped her sticky hands around me then giggled mischievously because she knew she had just stained my dress. “You little brat” I laughed “I thought you were a princess? Princesses don’t cheat”

ELLEA tired yawn left my lips as I stepped out of the bathroom, with the steam from my hot shower escaping into the room before I closed the door. I pulled the towel I had draped over my head out of my face and stopped in my tracks when I came faced with a surprise sight that I should be used to by now. Theon was in my bed again. He didn’t wait for an invitation or ask like he usually does. He was just splayed comfortably on my bed like it was the most natural thing in the world. He had one arm behind his head, shirtless, his legs crossed while he scrolled through his phone with a bored expression on his face. “Seriously?” I asked with a narrowed gaze and an irritated expression on my face “Do you want to explain what you are doing in my bed?”He looked up at me with a lazy smile on his lips and shrugged “I thought we’ve gone past me needing a reason to get into your bed?” “No, we didn’t besides it was a one time thing” I argued. “It’s happened too many times for it to be a on

ELLE I was waiting for the private investigator to get me more information on Amanda and Isla, but so far, he has not given me anything noteworthy. I hoped that meant she wasn’t planning anything more but that would be a wistful thinking. I knew she had not backed down since it was obvious that she was hell bent on defeating me. I had to admit that she scared me a little. It was one of the reasons I had avoided going to the house to see Milo. I moved Jeremy and Milo from the house they were at before since Theon had followed me once. I couldn’t take the risk if he decided to go back to see Milo even though Eliza was here now. Also, I couldn’t risk Amanda getting her hands on something that would hurt me. I would never risk exposing Milo’s existence to her. I didn’t even want to imagine what she would do when she finds out that I had such a weakness. Sophie entered my office and shut the door behind her. “We’ve been here a lot lately.” “I know” I closed my laptop with a
