"You are a very patient and strong woman, Mrs. Angelina. If I were in your shoes, I would grab Moreen's long hair. I wouldn't let her be happy with Mr. Axton." The two maids were talking about their employer's son-in-law and how angry they were about the incident at the dinner table this morning.

"Since when did you become gossips?" teased Angelina, who had accidentally caught the two servants gossiping about her in the kitchen.

"Forgive us, Mrs. Angelina. We were presumptuous," said Amey, one of the waiters. She smiled embarrassedly and then looked down because she was caught red-handed by her employer.

Angelina handed her a dirty glass left over from last night that she had brought from her room.

"Instead of talking, let's wash this dirty glass," Angelina joked.

"Yes, Mrs. Axton!" This time, it was Silda, Amey's coworker, who answered.

"If you're caught by Mrs. Evelyn, you'll get scolded," said Angelina, because she knew her mother-in-law very well.

The next day.

"Honey, I'm not going to the office today. I'm not feeling well," Moreen said spoilingly. He was still lying on the bed, covered by a thick blanket.

Axton stood by the bed, still wearing his men's pajamas.

"Alright, Moreen. It's no problem. You must be really tired from serving me all night," Axton said with a mischievous smile.

"But I really liked your game last night, darling," Moreen complimented, grabbing the nape of Axton's neck to bring him closer to his face. Then he gave the man a brief peck on the lips.

"You get some rest; I'm going to take a shower," Axton said, to which Moreen gave a slow nod.

"I love you," Moreen said before Axton entered the bathroom.

"I love you too," Axton replied with a small smile. Then he went to the toilet.

Angelina let out a long sigh when she heard the sweet conversation between Axton and Moreen. Her face looked sad as she stood behind the door. Actually, when she came there, she wanted to tell her husband that the breakfast menu was ready on the dining table.

However, her steps were halted; her hand that was originally going to push the door wide open and then enter the room, was canceled. Angelina opened the door only slightly, barely visible.

Axton's voice sounded very soft to Moreen. Angelina became jealous and also missed Axton's sweet attitude towards her. I wonder when that man will really return to his arms?

"Do I have to end this marriage?" Angelina's mind began to wander because she felt no longer appreciated by her husband.

After knowing Axton was taking a shower, Angelina walked confidently into the room. Her gaze went straight to the bed, where Moreen was sitting, leaning against the bed divan and playing on her cell phone.

Moreen glanced at Angelina, looking displeased with her arrival.

"Can you get out of my husband's life?!" she said quietly but emphatically. "Just tell me, how much money do you want, Moreen?" Angelina continued.

She stood beside the bed, only about a meter away from Moreen, who was sitting relaxed.

"How arrogant of you, Angelina! Who are you to talk to me like that?" Moreen's beautiful face became serious.

"I am Mrs. Axton Barayev Almero! The only daughter-in-law in the Almero family! Have you forgotten?" Angelina began to lean toward Moreen.

Her hands were itching to choke the woman's neck; however, Angelina could still contain her anger.

"You are a shameless daughter-in-law, Angelina. You are not even considered by the Almero family. You should be the one to leave this house!" Moreen smiled sarcastically, as if waving a war flag at Angelina.

Moreen looked like she was ready for war. She was ready to face any situation that would arise in front of her, especially when dealing with Angelina; she considered it no obstacle.

"Who would care about a woman with a deformed uterus like you?" Moreen looked at Angelina with a haughty gaze.

The sound of the bathroom door opening broke the atmosphere. Moreen immediately hit herself in the face, as if Angelina had slapped her.

"Don't hurt me, Angelina! Even if you kill me, I won't leave Axton. I love him so much!" Moreen shouted through tears.

"Angelina!" Axton was very surprised.

Of course, seeing that scene made Axton misunderstand. The man wrapped in a waist-length towel walked quickly to embrace the crying Moreen.

"What have you done to Moreen? Have you gone mad?!" Axton asked in a high tone.

"I didn't do anything to him!" Angelina argued without understanding. She showed both her palms to Axton. "He hurt himself, Axton!"

"Angelina is lying, Axton. She threw her hands in my face several times," Moreen interrupted her crying.

"You're the one lying!" Angelina's fingers pointed at Moreen.

"Never mind, Angelina! No need to defend yourself. You're always looking for reasons to make trouble!" Axton grumbled as he gently stroked Moreen's back, trying to calm the woman down.

Angelina still wanted to explain what really happened, but Axton immediately kicked her out of the room.

"No one will believe you, Angelina!" Moreen grumbled inwardly, feeling victorious, as Axton was on his side.

With her hurt getting worse, Angelina walked quickly out and slammed the door to tell Axton that she was very disappointed that her husband trusted the woman more than her.

...

Angelina went to the back area of the house. Sitting pensively on a lawn chair, she stared at the nearly dead white rose tree. The tree looked brown and brittle. There was only one yellow leaf left, and it would probably fall in a few days.

Angelina felt that her life was like that rose tree. Day after day, Angelina felt like she was slowly dying.

Drttt....

Angelina's cell phone vibrated in the pocket of the pants she was wearing. She quickly reached into her pants pocket and took out the cell phone, on the screen of which was written, "Doctor Jhonny."

"Doctor Jhon? What is he calling me for?" Angelina wondered as she pressed the green button and put the phone to her ear.

"Good morning, Mrs. Axton. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you. I've been busy with patients lately," Doctor Jhonny said on the other side.

"Good morning to you too, Doc. Yes, there is no problem," Angelina replied.

"The results of the lab tests we did last month are out. Sorry I'm late with the information."

Angelina's brow furrowed at Doctor Jhonny's admission; she looked confused and surprised. Hadn't she received the lab results from the hospital about 18 days ago?

"Does Ms. Angelina want to take them directly to the hospital, or should we send them there?"

Angelina was still silent. Her head was busy thinking about something. If the lab test results from Doctor Jhonny only came out two days ago, then who did the letter she received belong to? It clearly stated her full name.

"Mrs. Angelina? Are you still there?" Doctor Jhonny asked, because Angelina had not yet made a sound.

"I-yes, Doctor. I'm still here."

"How?" asked Doctor Jhonny about his previous question.

"No need to drive here, Doc. Let me come to the hospital."

"All right, ma'am. When you arrive, just come straight to my room."

"Okay, Doc. Thank you for calling."

"You're welcome, Mrs. Angelina."

Angelina quickly turned off the phone. She got up from the garden chair and rushed to the hospital. Her curiosity was unstoppable. Had Doctor Jhonny made a mistake? Or had someone deliberately sent her a fake lab result letter?

Axton stormed out of his office, his steps hurried and tense. His face was tight, his eyes sweeping through the corridor as if searching for something—or someone—precious. His breath came fast.“Have you seen my grandmother pass through here?” he demanded sharply at two staff members carrying stacks of documents. They exchanged a quick glance before one of them bowed slightly and answered nervously, “I’m sorry, Mr. Axton, we haven’t seen your grandmother.”Axton exhaled sharply through his nose, his jaw tightening. “Then find her! Make sure every floor is checked!” he barked, his voice echoing down the hall. The employees straightened immediately, knowing that when their boss spoke in that tone, something serious was happening.Without wasting another second, Axton strode toward the security post. “You,” he said, pointing at one of the guards. “Use the CCTV. Find Grandma Hana. I want every corner of this building checked.”“Yes, sir!” the guard replied quickly.Axton stood before the

Hans could no longer wait. His body was still weak—he had been put on an IV again, but it lasted only a few minutes before he tore it out completely. The pain in his heart was far worse than the wounds on his body. With a determined expression, Hans rose from the hospital bed, ignoring the doctor’s voice calling after him.“Master Hans! Your wounds haven’t healed yet, please get back to bed!” the doctor cried out in panic. But Hans only glanced at him briefly. “I don’t have time for that. I have to find Angelina.”His five personal bodyguards, who had been waiting outside, immediately approached the moment they saw Hans leaving the room. “We’re going to Almero’s office,” Hans ordered swiftly. “Search every room there. I’m sure there’s something that can lead us to a clue.”Without wasting another second, they sped toward the Almero building. The road felt endlessly long for Hans, while his thoughts kept racing through the worst possibilities. Every passing second without any news from

That morning, the atmosphere in the Almero family dining room appeared warm, yet beneath that warmth lingered a subtle air of rivalry. Everyone had gathered, enjoying breakfast together. Moreen busied herself moving back and forth, serving food and pouring warm unsweetened tea into Hana’s cup. Her smile was sweet, but her gaze was full of calculation.“Please, Grandma,” Moreen said softly, offering a neatly arranged plate of bread and fruit.Hana gave a faint smile—neither refusing nor showing enthusiasm. She merely looked at her granddaughter-in-law with an unreadable expression.Across the table, Evelyn watched the scene with sharp eyes. She raised her brow, holding back the urge to comment on Moreen’s behavior, which she found revolting. That woman thinks Grandma will like her? Of course not! Evelyn sneered inwardly. I’ll be the one to expose your true colors, Moreen.Meanwhile, Axton remained silent, eating the breakfast prepared by his wife without saying much. He appeared calm,

Hans sat on the edge of the hospital bed, staring blankly at the door. The clock’s hands pointed to ten at night, yet there was still no sign of Angelina. Every passing second felt slow and suffocating. He had tried to calm himself, but the longer he waited, the more restless he became. With trembling hands, Hans grabbed his phone and pressed Paul’s contact. A moment later, the man’s deep voice came through the receiver.“Hello, good evening, Young Master Hans. Paul speaking,” he said casually.“Paul, deploy all your men to search for Angelina’s whereabouts!” Hans ordered, his tone firm yet quivering with panic.Paul paused for a second, then chuckled lightly. “Looking for Miss Angelina? Where did she go, Young Master? Did you two have a fight?” he teased, thinking it was just a trivial matter.“Paul! I’m serious! Angelina’s been missing since this afternoon. Her phone’s off, and she’s not in her apartment!” Hans’s voice rose sharply, loud enough for a few nurses outside the room to g

After ending the call with Angelina, Hana sat at the edge of her bed. Her face was tense, carrying an unspoken worry. She glanced toward the door, making sure no one outside her room had overheard the conversation. Once she felt safe, she stood up and quietly stepped out.The evening breeze slipped through the living room window. The sky glowed a golden orange, yet Axton still hadn’t returned from the office. Hana took a long breath, gazing at the street beyond the curtain.“Axton, you’ve strayed too far, my son,” she murmured softly. She walked toward the kitchen. But her steps froze when she saw a woman standing by the stove, wearing an apron, stirring something in a pot.Hana’s brows furrowed. “You… if I’m not mistaken… you’re Axton’s secretary at Almero, aren’t you?”The woman turned around with a gentle smile. “Yes, Grandma. I’m Moreen.”“What are you doing here?” Hana asked flatly, hiding the edge of suspicion in her tone. She slipped back into her role — pretending not to know

Inside the hospital room, filled with the faint scent of antiseptic and the soft beeping of the IV machine, Angelina sat quietly by the bedside. Her hand moved gently as she spoon-fed Hans, who now looked far more spoiled than usual. Ten minutes earlier, Hans’s parents had just left the room, giving the two of them a moment alone.Hans smiled weakly, yet his teasing never ceased. “Look at me—I can’t even eat without your help,” he said, gripping Angelina’s hand tightly. Even with the IV needle still attached to his hand, his touch felt warm—so warm that it sent a small tremor through her chest.“Then get better soon, so I won’t have to feed you again,” Angelina replied softly, trying to hide the faint blush coloring her cheeks.Hans gazed at her intently. That look made time seem to stop. “Angelina, what did you feel… when I was critical?” he asked in a tender, meaningful tone.Angelina lowered her head. “Panic,” she answered shortly.Hans raised an eyebrow, clearly unsatisfied. “And
