At first, Angelina didn't want to sign an agreement that was so burdensome to her. However, she could not let Moreen win against her.

Angelina also chose to stay with the Almero family. For the sake of the integrity of her marriage to Axton, she was willing to accept the bitterness of seeing her husband married to another woman.

Surviving is not only because of her love for Axton. Realistically, the Almero family is very rich, and during her time as Almero's daughter-in-law, Angelina has never lived in deprivation.

There was no fancy wedding party to formalize Axton and Moreen's relationship; it was just an exchange of rings, witnessed by both sides of the family.

In her private room, Angelina sat pensively wringing the fabric of the clothes on her chest. Her heart was really hurting. Who would want her not to be able to get pregnant? Angelina also wanted to make the Almero family happy by giving them many offspring.

According to Angelina, all women in this world are perfect, even if a woman cannot have offspring, because it is not her will.

For about three hours, she lamented her unfortunate fate. Until eleven o'clock at night, she finally got up from the sofa.

However, the sound of the bedroom door opening made Angelina turn her head to the side. She was quite surprised to see Axton and Moreen walk in without hesitation. The two of them looked very intimate and harmonious.

"Axton, what did you bring that woman into our room for?" Angelina's forehead wrinkled faintly.

"You don't need to protest so much, Angelina! I'm tired of fighting with you. Moreen and I will rest here!" Axton said without turning to Angelina.

"Sit down, dear. No need to be shy; this is your home and also your room," Axton pleaded as he gently stroked Moreen's long hair.

Moreen smiled happily and sat on the sofa in the room. But Angelina's heart burned with jealousy at Axton's sweet gesture toward his honey.

"Alright, I'll find another room," said Angelina.

It felt like Angelina's energy had run out to fight Axton's stubbornness. She chose to give in. After all, it was all for the sake of her mental sanity. If she continued to see Axton and Moreen's romance, it would be very bad for her.

"Who gave the order to leave the room? You, stay here! And sleep down there!" said Axton, pointing to the floor beside the bed.

Angelina gasped in shock. Sleeping in the same room with them? Axton's request was crazy!

"That's impossible, Axton! I wouldn't want to sleep with that woman!" argued Angelina, the fingers of her right hand slowly moving to squeeze behind her back.

While Moreen smiled wryly, he silently said, "Keep getting angry, Axton dear, let Angelina suffer more!" Moreen really enjoyed the fight between Axton and Angelina. That was exactly what he wanted: for Axton to love her more.

"You haven't forgotten the agreement, have you? Your life is under my control!" grumbled Axton who wanted to get back at Angelina.

"Never mind, Angelina. My husband wants to rest soon. Why do you always provoke his anger? How can Axton not turn to me if you always disobey?" said Moreen who wanted to show that he was much better than Angelina.

"Shut up! No one needs your opinion!" snapped Angelina while glaring at Moreen.

"Keep your voice down, Angelina. What Moreen said is true. You are indeed a rebellious wife! Don't keep standing, go to bed, and don't make any more noise!"

After that, without any awkwardness in front of Angelina, Axton climbed into bed with his new wife.

Moreen looked back at Angelina for a moment. A sly smile was etched, mocking the poor woman.

...

Angelina lay on her side, her back to the bed. Her thin body was wrapped in a thick white blanket that covered her all the way to her head.

The sound of fondling could be heard on the luxurious mattress. Moreen's spoiled sighs seemed to deliberately provoke Axton's love-making passion to become even more passionate. It looked like the newlyweds were enjoying their first night.

"I've never enjoyed lips this sweet, Moreen. Your beautiful body makes it impossible for my naughty hands not to touch it. You are so amazing, Moreen."

Angelina's tears were unstoppable. Under the thick blanket, she cried silently. How could Axton praise Moreen without caring about her feelings?

Like a nightmare, Angelina indirectly had to watch her husband make love to another woman, making love on a bed full of beautiful memories with Axton. For three years, the bed had accompanied her, witnessing the harmony of her marriage. Now it must be replaced by a shameless woman snatching Axton from her.

***

This morning, Axton asked Angelina to prepare breakfast for him and Moreen. Of course, Angelina didn't want to. However, she was too lazy to argue, so she chose to do it.

She arranged one piece of bread spread with butter and peanut butter on a plate. Then Angelina prepared two glasses of milk with low sugar.

The sound of intermittent footsteps sounded behind her as she began to approach. Angelina knew who had come to the table. She turned around, her eyes scanning the faces of Axton and Moreen in turn. Suddenly she remembered the events of last night, which were very painful. It seemed like they had dated until late in the morning. But why didn't Axton apologize to her? As if there was nothing wrong with last night. Angelina's heart was deeply hurt.

Moreen looked absolutely perfect. Her wet hair was flowing straight, complemented by a very beautiful face makeup, and she was wearing a plain magenta-colored dress that shaped her curves. Not only that, her body smelled of expensive perfume.

Angelina began to look at her own appearance and compared it to Moreen's very different appearance. Angelina's simple appearance did not seem suitable for a CEO like Axton.

"Have I been paying less attention to my appearance? Is that why I am no longer attractive in Axton's eyes?" Angelina wondered to herself.

"Don't stare, hurry up and serve Almero's new son-in-law!" Evelyn admonished Angelina. The old woman joined the dining table, sitting in the chair next to Moreen.

"Mother... Are you up this early?" Moreen greeted her with a sweet smile.

"I should be the one asking that. You're a new couple, why not enjoy some time together?" Evelyn concluded. She could not wait to hear that Moreen was pregnant with her first grandchild.

"I have a lot of work at the office, ma'am," Axton said.

"Ah, Axton. Hurry up and find some free time so you can honeymoon with my favorite daughter-in-law."

"I'll try, ma'am," Axton smiled between bites.

"Remember, Axton, you must impregnate Moreen immediately."

Hearing her mother-in-law's words, Angelina swallowed slightly depressed, starting to feel uncomfortable.

"Take it easy, ma'am. I have taken good care of my womb." Moreen gave Angelina a haughty look. "Not to worry, I'll be pregnant soon, so Axton will love me even more," he continued.

"Not just Axton, the entire Almero family will love you very much, Moreen."

"Ah... I can't wait to get pregnant." Moreen was already imagining how she would receive many gifts from the Almero family.

It was hard for Angelina to contain her emotions as she stood near the dining table, even though she seemed to be ignored. She wanted to leave, nor did she want to witness their intimate conversation. However, she did not want to show her hurt; she had to look as if the situation would not break her.

Angelina pulled back her chair. However, Evelyn's displeased gaze made her nervous.

"Who asked you to join us?" Evelyn asked.

"I'm still Axton's wife, ma'am. It's only right that I be here!" said Angelina, sitting in her chair right next to Axton.

"It's okay, ma'am. Let Angelina stay here," said Moreen.

"Moreen, that's very kind of you. This time, Axton didn't choose the wrong woman," praised Evelyn, increasingly impressed with her new daughter-in-law.

"No good woman would ruin another woman's marriage, ma'am!" Angelina said silently, not wanting to disturb the atmosphere.

She let her mother-in-law flatter Moreen for the time being. While watching the drama, Angelina would calculate how to deal with the woman who dared to take away her happiness!

Inside the speeding car, Angelina kept practicing her breathing exercises, trying to calm the frantic pounding of her heart. Her left hand gripped the steering wheel tightly while her right hand occasionally patted her own thigh. Fifteen minutes trapped with a psychopath like Axton had truly pushed her adrenaline to the limit. Her mind kept replaying what had just happened—the obsessive look in Axton’s eyes, the way he leaned closer, and the threatening words that had nearly dragged her back into the same dark abyss.“What do you really want from me, Axton?” Angelina whispered faintly, as if asking herself. Even though he had long been her ex-husband, why did he keep haunting her life?Suddenly, she remembered something she had almost forgotten. She quickly grabbed her phone and called one of the bodyguards.“Hello, Miss Angelina. How can I help you?”“Yes… Did Young Master Hans contact you?” Angelina asked.“Yes, Miss. In fact, it was Young Master Hans who told us to break into the d

Axton’s confident stride echoed through the silent room. His gaze was a sharp stab, as if each footfall carried the shadows of defeat that had been gnawing at his soul. Those bitter memories spun back one by one in his mind. The scene of Angelina gracefully taking the chairman’s seat at Almero, seizing the throne that once belonged to him. Then his bankruptcy, when he was powerless watching the business empire he’d built crumble to pieces. And worse still—the accident that left him lying like a living corpse in the hospital, dependent on the mercy of others. All of it piled up, forming a perfect black circle in his chest. Round, whole, and named only vengeance.Axton stopped right in front of Angelina. His breath was heavy, his chest rising and falling, while his hand slowly lifted the dagger he held tight. His eyes no longer showed any trace of mercy, only embers ready to burn everything to ash.“This is the end of your life story, Angelina,” Axton murmured, his voice low and trembli

Watching Axton’s behavior, Angelina felt utterly sick. Every movement he made set her blood boiling. The cold stare, the arrogant posture, the mocking smile — all of it carved the hatred on her face even deeper. For a moment she held herself back, but the urge to get out of the room as quickly as possible was far stronger.“You know, Axton,” Angelina said sharply, chin lifted in challenge. “If you dare make me disappear, you won’t only be dealing with the law — you’ll be dealing with Derox as well.”Her words stopped Axton for an instant, then he exploded with laughter. He slapped the table as if Angelina had just told a joke.“Hahaha… Angelina, listen to me carefully,” he said, his eyes narrowing with scorn. “Wake up from your dream. You’re just Derox’s tool in the business rivalry, not family — you mean nothing to them!”Angelina clenched her fist; her jaw tightened. “I am not family! But they will never let me be harmed!”Axton leaned in, lowering his face until it was level with h

“No breakfast for lazy people!”Evelyn’s voice echoed through the dining room as her hand swiftly snatched the plate of toast away from Moreen.“Mommy!” Moreen exclaimed in shock, her face flushing with restrained anger. “You’re so stingy. Give it back! I’m hungry too.”“Don’t be insolent, Moreen!” Evelyn sneered, her eyes filled with hatred. “I made this toast especially for my son, not for you!”Her tone grew sharper. “A woman like you should know your place. You’re only a guest in this house, so don’t you ever act like the mistress here. If you’re hungry, make your own toast!”Moreen froze for a moment, her eyes glistening with unshed tears, yet her lips stubbornly held back. She refused to cry in front of her mother-in-law.Just as the atmosphere grew heavier, footsteps approached. Axton entered, standing beside the dining table, his gaze shifting between the two women. Old memories came flooding back—he used to watch his mother scold Angelina for defending Moreen. Now, the tables

Angelina tossed and turned in bed—on her back, on her left side, then her right. Her eyes stayed wide open, fixed on the darkness of the ceiling. Restlessness gnawed at her chest. Finally, with a long sigh, she sat up. Her bare feet touched the cold marble floor as she walked slowly toward the desk in the corner of her room. She sat down and opened her laptop, which had been lying idle since the afternoon. For a moment, she froze, staring at the blank screen that faintly reflected her own face. “Okay, let’s try tonight,” she murmured under her breath, as though giving herself courage. Her fingers began to dance over the keyboard—swift, steady, as if long accustomed to handling complicated codes. That night, Angelina went home alone. Hans had already called her earlier, saying there was an urgent matter at the office he had to take care of. Angelina only sighed, not making a fuss about it. Besides, the two bodyguards seated in the escort car behind her were more than enough to make her feel safe. But on the increasingly deserted road, a black car suddenly sped from the opposite direction, then stopped right in front of her. Angelina instinctively slammed the brakes. Her car screeched to a halt, and her heart pounded wildly.“What the hell is this…” she muttered, eyes narrowing at the sight ahead.A man stepped out of the black car. His stride was heavy, deliberate. A cap shadowed part of his face, the rest hidden behind a mask. He walked closer, then knocked harshly on Angelina’s window.“Open up!” His voice was deep, baritone, dripping with threat.Angelina stayed silent, gripping the wheel tightly while keeping her eyes locked on his every move.“Get out now! Or I’ll smash y
