The news that Ting Gap had been sold flew around town that very day. It was such a sensation that even the TV news had reported it.
To keep their identity secret, Rick and Debbie had listed the property under a company name. One of Rick's new companies was called RBG Group. It was started by Rick's father to help hide his private assets from the Green family. It stood for Rick Byron Green Group. No one knew who the principal shareholder was behind the Group, so it was safe to use it to list the villa. This conglomorate of businesses was very diversified and covered most of the investments that Byron had made over the years. In fact, the development company that had built Silver Hill was under this group as well.
After thanking Old Wilson for all of his help, Rick and Debbie returned to the old apartment to start packing their personal belongings in preparation of moving in to their new home.
Lois had been out all morning doing her community service work. As she came into the apartment she was in a frightful mood. Having to serve in a soup kitchen was so humiliating! So she started in on Rick as soon as she saw him.
"I told you to get out! You are not welcome here anymore!" she screamed at Rick.
Rick replied "Don't worry, we are packing to leave now."
Lois said "What do you mean 'WE'? Debbie is not allowed to follow you anywhere! We are going to file for divorce right now!"
Debbie walked into the living room after hearing her mother yelling at Rick. She said to Lois "I will not divorce Rick. You cannot force me to do so. We have gotten a new house and are moving in today! Besides, I'm an adult now. You have no say over what I do or where I go or with whom. You will stay here by yourself. You can rant and rave and hollar and scream all you want, but you will do it by yourself!"
To which Lois replied "You can not do this to me! I am your mother! Your duty is to take care of me. If anyone is getting a new house, it will be me. How dare you go against my rule!" Lois was getting very nervous that Debbie was really going to leave her alone now. What would she do for money if Debbie stopped giving her what she felt was her right to take?
Debbie said "Mom, let's sit down and have a rational talk. She took Lois and Rick to the dinning room table and sat down.
Debbie started by saying "Mom, you have never respected Rick in any way. You hate that he is here. But I love my husband and will not even consider divorcing him. Therefore, I think it best that we move out. We will take care of the household expenses here for you to still have a place to live. But I will not supply you with money to just throw away to impress your friends. For that you can get a job. This is not unreasonable. You are still young enough to work. You are not someone of a high status that can live a life of leisure. You will have no choice but to accept this. Do you have any questions?"
Lois was livid! How dare Debbie treat her this way!
Lois still did not know of Rick's recent inheritance. Debbie and Rick both agreed that it would spell disaster if she found out. She would not be able to keep from bragging all over town about her billionaire son-in-law. Until everything had been secured away from the Green family, Lois must be kept in the dark for now. Therefore they decided not to tell Lois where they were moving to.
Lois asked "Just where are you moving to? Am I allowed to visit?" Her thought was to go visit and just not leave. What could they do? Kick her out?
Sun Down Estates was located in the south part of town. Silver Hill was in the north part. As far away as they could get from Lois. Debbie just said "We are moving to the north. When you can be relied upon to act like a descent person, we may ask you over. But not yet. You have a long way to go before we are willing to have you come visit."
Lois was so insulted by Debbie's words, that she threw another fit. She wallowed on the floor and screamed "You are an ungrateful child! I will call the police and tell them that you are deserting me and abandoning me! It's your duty to support me and to take care of me! Who do you think you are?"
Debbie replied "I am not abandoning you! I will pay for your living expences. That is what custom calls for. It does not, however, demand that I live with you! Rick and I are setting up our own home, we want to have children, none of which we want raised by you! You are too self centered and narcissistic and are not someone who should be around young children!"
With that, Debbie and Rick gathered up their luggage and left the apartment. Rick called a taxi and they were taken to their new home in Silver Hill.
When they arrived at the villa, they saw 2 cars parked in the forecourt. They both wondered who could be visiting them. As they got out of the taxi, Old Wilson came over to them. He said "I thought you may now be in need of your own transportation. Young Master, these 2 cars were your father's that he used when he was here in town. I know he would want you to use them." The 2 cars were a Bentley and a Rolls Royce Phantom. A bit of a shock to Rick and Debbie, but they were glad to now have their own cars. Taxis were nice, but when you were in a hurry, nothing beats your own transportation.
"Oh, one more thing. This is a bank card for you to use. It is tied to your personal accounts. It has a limit of $100 million. You may need it for personal expences. There's one for Madame Green as well. The passcodes are your respective birthdays." Old Wilson handed them each a bank card. "If there is nothing else I can do for you, I'll take my leave. Call if you need anything. I live here in Silver Hill as well, so I'll always be close by. Oh, by the way, the staff is here to greet you." With that, Old Wilson strolled down the drive. He lived in one of the small houses in the Lotus Section. Byron had given Old Wilson the house when it was first finished. He thought it would be handy to have Old Wilson keeping an eye on the new development.
After Old Wilson left, some people came out of the villa in uniforms. There were 4 women in maid's outfits and 2 men in uniforms. They introduced themselves as the villa's servants. The 2 men were the bulter and the chef. The 4 women were the housemaids and houekeeper. Rick and Debbie were then informed that other servants at the villa included a Head Gardener, a Head Stable boy, and a general maintenance crew. They all lived on site. This shocked Debbie and Rick. They had no idea there would be so many people around all of the time. But the more Rick thought about this, it was a good thing that there would be a buffer between he and Debbie and the outside world. Maybe this way, they could maintain a distance from people finding out who they really were. The rest of the weekend was spent settling in to their new home. There was much to explore just on their own property. Their favorite hangout spot became the pool and it's poolhouse. The poolhouse came equipped with a large screen
Old Wilson took a sip of his drink and said "Now on to other matters. Young Master, you are now a man of great wealth not to mention status. You must find a way to become the man you are meant to be. I know that your father was very proud of how you married the love of your life, and even became a construction worker to help support your family. He was awed at how humble you became and did not act pretentious and aloof having come from such privileged beginnings. Although I never told him of your exact whereabouts, I did keep him up to date on the important matters of your life. You adapted to your circumstances well. But now it is time to adapt again. It is my sad duty to also inform you of what I suspect concerning your Green family. As you know, you have several uncles and aunts who would rob you blind if given the chance. I believe that they suspected that your father was building a fortune for you, and I have evidence that they have been searching in the last few days into all of
Lois was very unhappy. She did not like living alone. There was no one there to wait on her. No one to cook for her. And no one to get money off of. This would not do. She had to come up with a plan to force her daughter back into the house. Yes, there was food in the house, but if she wanted it, she would have to cook it! Lois felt that this was very demeaning. She had always had Rick to boss around and Debbie to supply her with money to spend and show off in front of her friends. This was just too unfair! Lois decided to call a few friends to come over and play cards. She asked them to bring a dish of something and make a party of it. Although she would not be cooking anything herself, that didn't mean that her friends couldn't! A perfect solution. All the neighbors at Sundown Estates live in such close proximity to each other, that they already knew that Debbie and Rick had moved out was no surprise. Word had gotten around to Lois's circle of friends, so they could figure out
The next day was their start of a new work week. Debbie made her way to the office driving the new Bentley. Luckily no one saw her drive up and park. As she entered the building, there were several small groups of coworkers standing around gossiping. So much had happened over the weekend. The main topic of conversation was about Ting Gap. It was sensational news all over town that someoone had moved into the luxury villa at Silver Hill. Speculation was high as to who had bought it. As Debbie passed people talking about this, she smiled inwardly. If they only knew! As she was reaching her office she was stopped by her Uncle James. He asked her to step into his office for a chat. This almost never happened, so Debbie was a little apprehensive. What could he possibly want to talk about with her? As she walked into Uncle James's office he said to her "Have you heard any rumors about our company? Has anyone asked you about our business dealing with RBG Group?" She replied "No si
"Hello! I didn't expect to see you so soon." Rick greeted Old Wilson. Old Wilson had been busy that morning working on the case against James Blain and the Blain family. He said to Rick "I have completed the audit against James Blain. We are ready to let the lawyers start prosecution. It will involve the rest of his family as well. Luckily, Madame Green was not involved in any way. Are you sure you want to continue with this law suit?" Rick had thought long and hard about this matter. He could not in good conscious let the Blain family get away with their plans to cheat his company. He and Debbie had already decided it was the best way forward. So he replied to Old Wilson "Yes. Debbie and I want to prosecute this to the fullest extent of the law." Old Wilson then took out a document and handed it to Rick. Doing so he said to Rick "Then this is a copy of the suit we will file with the courts. Basically it accuses James Blain and the Blain family of extortion and embezzlement
Lois had been anxious all day. She had planned to go to Debbie's office to follow her home that afternoon. But when she got to the office, she was stunned to see it crawling with police. Then after everyone was escorted out, the police padlocked the building! What was going on? Was Debbie involved with any of this? Lois decided to call Debbie to find out what was happening. Debbie answered when Lois called. "Hello?" Lois said " I just came from your office. There were police everywhere, then they locked up the building! What on earth is going on?" "Mom, Uncle James and Grandfather were arrested today. They are charged with extortion and embezzlement, among other things. The police had warrants for the finanical records of the company, as well as the contents of Grandfather's house. From what I have heard, they have all the evidence they need to convict them both. The Blain family assets have also been frozen. This will not end well for the Blain family. The family's reput
Tangu The Wang family were meeting again to discuss their takeover of The Green Family Shipping company. Old Man Wang called the meeting to order and asked George for a progress report. George stood up and said "Father, I have researched the shipping company and have found that it is much larger than we first thought. They own most of their own railcars, lorries, planes and ships. The company is worth over $75 million, after any debts. We cannot afford to outright buy it. But we can try to whittle away some of the divisions. Specifically, I think the trucking and air portion are ripe for the plucking. From what I have uncovered, no one from the Green family has stepped in to take over the management of these devisions yet. If we can find out who these divisions are mortgaged to, perhaps we could buy up the loans and then foreclose the loans in order to take over those operations." Old Man Wang said " Very good, that's a good start." At which time George's brother Wayne stood
Tony Hall was at it again. He had come to the underground casino hoping his luck would change. He owed so much money to just about every loan shark in town. Tonight he had once again borrowed money from yet another loan shark to stake his night in the casino. His luck was bound to change, right? As Tony walked into the gambling den, he saw some old friends standing to the side. He walked up and greeted his friends. "How is everyone tonight? Feeling lucky?" They all were surprised to see Tony there. They all knew about his gambling debts and wondered why he was there. "We all are fine! But what are you doing here? Come to lose some more money?" Tony was a bit miffed at this. He said " My luck is bound to change tonight! " With this he turned to a craps table close by and placed a bet and immediately lost! He was not deterred. He placed another bet and again he lost. He had already lost $50,000 in just two bets! At this rate he would be broke in 5 minutes. He decided to change
