Chapter 2

Autor: Perfect Timing
When I walked out of the operating room, it was already late afternoon.

I stepped into the lobby and spotted a delivery guy walking in with a giant bouquet of yellow roses. He asked loudly, "Is there a Mrs. Reed here? Mr. Reed ordered these flowers for you."

I couldn't help but smile.

I had rushed out this morning and argued with Jackson over nothing. We had ignored each other all day. Those yellow roses were clearly his peace offering.

I held back a laugh and stepped forward. "They're mine. I'm—"

"Don't touch my flowers!"

Before I even reached the bouquet, Christina shot in from the other side. She shoved me hard and glared at me with pure contempt.

"Seriously, Josephine Tyson. Where's your dignity? First, you claimed my car was yours this morning, and now you're trying to steal my flowers. Do you have no shame at all?"

Her shove made me stumble. I hadn't planned to argue, but her attitude lit a fire in me. I frowned at her. "Are you out of your mind? Those are my flowers."

The interns standing behind Christina burst out laughing. They pointed at me like they were watching a circus show.

"Stop pretending, Dr. Tyson. A huge bouquet of roses like that? Only Christina's rich husband could afford something like it. Who on earth would send anything like that to you?"

"Seriously. I've never seen someone stoop so low for flowers. The way you ran up there without a hint of pride made me embarrassed for you."

"She's lucky Christina is a gracious society wife. Anyone else would've already called security!"

Christina put on a shy little act beside them. "Oh, stop. You're all terrible. I told you my identity is supposed to stay private, and now you're saying it out loud.

"My darling husband is the heir to a powerful family. Everyone wants a piece of him. I don't want random people bothering us every day."

The others quickly comfort her. They praised her and said they understood, looking at her with open envy.

I stared at them, stunned. Annoyance bubbled inside me. "So your darling husband lets you drive someone else's car and grab someone else's flowers? Society wife? If you're that wealthy, why are you even working? Just go home and rest!"

"You know nothing. I earn my keep!" Christina flushed bright red. My words had clearly hit a nerve.

She took a step toward me and said, "I'll say his name and scare you straight. My husband is the heir to Reed Group!"

I froze for a second before I realized who she meant. I frowned and asked back, "You mean Jackson Reed?"

"How dare you! Who do you think you are to say my husband's name so casually?"

She glared at me with wild arrogance.

I was speechless. "Did Jackson marry you in your dreams?"

"You dare insult me?" Christina's face twisted with rage. She tilted her chin up in disdain. "My husband won't let you get away with this—"

I raised my hand and cut her off, "I don't know what your husband will do. But I can tell you this. You pretending to be the wife of the Reed family's heir is fraud, and Jackson will definitely not let it slide!"

Watching someone pretend to be a society wife at my expense was a new experience. I almost applauded.

Christina's face reddened even more. "How dare you say I'm pretending. I am Jackson Reed's wife!"

"Where's the proof?" I asked, staring at her. "Talk is cheap. Why should I believe you're Mrs. Reed?"

"I-I'll call my husband right now," she sputtered. "He'll come here himself."

She whipped out her phone and purred into it. "Honey, come to the hospital. Some awful woman doesn't believe who you are, and she keeps bullying me."

"Who's dumb enough to mess with my woman? I'm on my way right now!" the man on the other end replied instantly.

Christina squared her shoulders and looked around triumphantly. "Everyone, stay. When my husband gets here, he won't let this tramp off easy!"

I was stunned by her confidence. If her husband really was Jackson Reed, then who was my husband

So I texted Jackson and asked him to pick me up at the hospital.

"Okay," Jackson replied quickly.

His message eased my nerves and made me look forward to this real-Jackson versus fake-Jackson showdown even more.

Meanwhile, when Adam heard that Christina had been arrested, he tried to run. The police caught him before he made it far. When they saw each other at the station, they exploded in rage. Christina gritted her teeth and screamed at him, "Adam, you useless idiot. You said our streams were just skirting the line and not breaking the law. You said no one would ever arrest us. So why am I sitting in here right now?"Adam's face turned red, and he yelled back, "Because you're a greedy idiot! I told you to quit while we were ahead, but you just had to keep stirring things up. You even swapped out Mr. Reed's emerald bracelet behind my back. Now I'm going to jail because of you!"She refused to back down. "Says the fake rich guy with zero skills. You lied to me, used me, and then made me earn money myself. You're trash!""Who are you calling trash? Look at yourself. You're nothing but a mess, a used good, and you think you can marry into money? If you hadn't thrown yourself at me, I would

Christina and Adam were raking in money fast, and soon they stopped hiding their greed.Even after Reed Group sent a cease-and-desist, they kept going. Adam even stopped wearing a mask and started showing up in Christina's livestream as her friend.A nurse from the hospital stumbled across the stream and couldn't help dropping some comments."Christina, give it a rest. You dated a driver and pretended he was some CEO. Mr. and Mrs. Reed exposed you, and you got fired. Now you're online, fooling people again!"You took photos of someone else's mansion and car and came here to play the victim. That baby has nothing to do with Mr. Reed. Everyone, don't fall for her act!"Christina saw the comments and panicked. She blocked the nurse right away and rushed to explain. "Don't believe the lies. That's just an old coworker jealous of me. Just block them!"Everyone, if I hadn't been pushed to the edge, who would ever air her private life like this for help…"Just like that, any spark of d

That night, I went home and told Jackson everything. He sneered. "A scammer dares to squeeze money out of me? How pathetic. Don't worry. I already told Dexter to pull every security clip from the house and the car. You can clearly see Christina and Adam doing all kinds of filthy things. She can't pin anything on me."I raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Reed, you really know how to handle other women."He walked over and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Other women are easy to deal with. You're the one who's hard to handle."Then, he leaned in and kissed me.Just like that, our cold war ended.…Within a week, Adam confessed fully. He returned everything he stole and apologized over and over.Jackson didn't want to waste more time on him. He fired him, and that was that. But three days later, a headline appeared online. I let out a cold laugh. "I don't need you to kneel or apologize, but you took my car and gave it away. That alone is enough to charge you with theft."Adam immediately dropped to his knees with a loud thud and begged like his life depended on it.He was a distant relative of one of the old house staff. He begged for a job through them.Jackson didn't have the heart to turn him away, so he hired Adam as a driver. We thought he was harmless. We never imagined he would do something like this behind our backs.Faced with Jackson's pressure, Adam confessed quickly. "I lost my mind. I thought I could use Mr. Reed's name to pick up women. After I got her, I would tell her who I really was…"Christina froze. Then, she rushed forward and grabbed him. "No! You can't be lying. You showed all those jewels, cars, and houses. How could you be a driver? How could you trick me?"Adam snapped. "Yeah, I lied to you. But you lied to me too! You told me I was your first. But yesterday I found out t

Christina froze. Her face drained of color, and she couldn't get a word out.Zoe thought Christina was just being shy. She pushed Christina right up to Jackson and teased her with a grin."Christina, you're already married. Why are you acting shy around Mr. Reed? Didn't you hear him call you 'honey'?"She kept simpering at Christina, never noticing the dark look settling over Jackson's face. The other department heads chimed in fast."Mr. Reed, your wife is one of our doctors? That's wonderful!""No wonder Dr. Vaughan looks so capable and polished. Turns out she's Mr. Reed's wife. Mr. Reed, yesterday she actually—""What she did has nothing to do with me." Jackson frowned and shot the man a sharp, impatient look. Then he looked straight at me. "I called you. Why aren't you coming over?"The lobby fell silent."Wait… Did Mr. Reed mean Josephine?""He said 'honey' a second ago, right? Isn't Christina supposed to be his wife? How could it be Josephine?""Was Josephine telling

While we waited for Jackson to show up, Christina grew even bolder. She held the yellow roses and spoke to me smugly. "Josephine, I get that you grew up poor and love shiny things, but I won't let you slander me like this."You need to get on your knees and apologize. You also need to promise you won't use my name again. If you don't, my husband will teach you a lesson!"I almost laughed.I didn't even speak yet when the other interns jumped in."Christina, you're way too kind. She lied about you this badly, and you only asked her to kneel and apologize.""Dr. Tyson, Mr. Reed isn't someone you can joke about. You should kneel now. If Mr. Reed gets here, he won't go easy on you.""Yeah. I heard Mr. Reed never appears in public. But he came all the way here for Christina. Doesn't that tell you how serious this is?"Jackson did hate showing up in public. That was just who he was. I never thought it would be used against me.This whole thing was insane.I let out a cold laugh. "L
