Mag-log inThe noise inside the tent refused to settle.
Several Alphas were speaking at once, trying to make sense of what I had just revealed. Some looked openly doubtful, while others kept asking the people beside them whether they had ever heard of a surviving member of the Lunar family.
I get it. They had every reason to question me. I also spent months without knowing I truly was, and now I was standing in front of them claiming a throne that had been forgotten
“Gareth took our kingdom. He took our home, our people, and everything that belonged to my family. Losing the throne did not make him the rightful owner of it. It only means that no one has taken it back yet.”
I looked at each alpha, refusing to soften what I was asking of them.
It made no sense that Gareth could just take whatever he wants, act however he liked and not face consequences.
Speaking of consequences I wonder what my fake parents are doing right. Has Gareth thrown them into prison or were they working with Gareth to bring me back?
I quickly removed those thoughts from my head and tried to convince the alphas to join us in taking down Gareth.
“I am not asking you to follow me because my name sounds important. I’m asking you to decide what side you want to stand on.”
I turned slightly, taking in the outlaw leaders seated throughout the tent.
“You can stand with me against Gareth, or you can continue living under the rule of the dynasty that destroyed mine. Those who want nothing to do with this fight are free to walk away. I won’t force anyone to swear loyalty to me.”
The last part was very important. I didn't need anyone feeling like I forced them into battle with Gareth. I need real people who are ready to make Gareth face his judgment.
An Alpha near the entrance stood up.
“My pack has no love for Gareth.”
Another voice came from behind him. “Neither does mine.”
Wow, I never realized there are those who hated being under Gareth's tyranny. It's good to see people standing up against Gareth.
Before the discussion could gather any shape, one of Lyra’s supporters pushed forward.
“This is absurd. She expects us to abandon everything because she claims to be a lost princess?”
A second supporter rose beside him. “And what happens when Gareth comes for us? Will this supposed queen protect our packs?”
The questions came quickly, but the room had already shifted.
“You’ve been following Gareth for years,” an outlaw Alpha snapped. “How has that worked out for you?”
The supporter tried to answer, but another Alpha cut him off. “If you trust Gareth so much, you know where the door is.”
That alone silenced him. Then an Alpha from the far side of the tent walked toward me.
He stopped several steps away before dropping to one knee.
“My pack recognizes Queen Ava Lunar.”
The words sent another murmur through the gathering.
A second Alpha followed.
Then a third.
Soon, several of the outlaw leaders were on their knees, each swearing loyalty to me and acknowledging my claim. Others remained standing, uncertain but no longer challenging me. A few refused outright and stayed where they were, making their position clear without another argument.
I accepted that. I had never expected everyone to choose me.
Darius remained beside me throughout it all, his hand resting against my back. He didn’t speak for me or try to convince anyone. He simply stayed there, making his position unmistakable.
Eventually, the meeting came to an end.
The leaders began leaving the tent in small groups, carrying the news of my identity and the decisions they had made back to their packs. I stood with Darius near the entrance, watching the gathering break apart when hurried footsteps sounded outside.
Three soldiers came running across the grounds.
One of them stopped in front of Darius, breathing hard.
“My King, we have urgent news.”
Darius’s expression changed. “What happened?”
“Gareth has mobilized his full army.”
The words wiped away whatever relief the meeting had created.
“How far away?” Darius asked.
“They’re already marching.”
The soldier swallowed before continuing. “They’re heading toward Hollow Fang. Our scouts believe Gareth intends to burn the entire kingdom rather than leave anything behind.”
My attention shifted to him.
“And Lunar?”
The soldier looked at me.
“He knows about the abandoned Lunar city. His forces are heading there too. We believe he intends to burn that city as well.”
The place where my family had once ruled. The place that had survived empty and forgotten after Gareth took everything else.
Now he wanted even that gone.
Darius looked toward me, and I knew the decision had already been made.
He turned to the soldiers. “Ready the warriors.”
The soldiers moved immediately.
Darius reached for his sword before looking back at the gathering grounds.
“If they are coming to meet us, we also go to meet them. Some soldiers will have to attack Silvercrest with the help of outlaws who are ready to fight. Some will go and defend Hollowfang. While some will go and defend the abandoned kingdom of Lunar.”
He sounded really ready.
He continued. “We march there tonight.”

AVAThe tent was crowded when Darius, Mira, and I arrived. The tent was full of alphas, outlaw pack leaders, and members of Hollowfang. Warriors stood around the entrance.Darius had been preparing for this gathering for days. After the last attacks, he came to the conclusion that Gareth was receiving help from some people outside Silvercrest. The number of soldiers that attacked Hollowfang made no sense. Too many soldiers had appeared at the right places, plus Gareth's attack had become far more coordinated than they had been before. His plan was simple. He wanted some of the outlaw packs working with Hollowfang before Gareth could launch another major attack. Darius knew he couldn't trust all of them, so he needed to gather all of them first before picking who he could trust. He didn't want me to come here, but I insisted on coming with him. Now, standing inside the tent, I wondered if I had made the right choice.Something about the atmosphere felt wrong.Nobody openly challenged
POV: AVA“How many weeks?” I finally managed to ask.The doctor checked the results again before answering. “About two weeks.”Two weeks. The number sat in my head, and then the memory came back with startling clarity. The night after the battle, when everything between Darius and me had shifted, was two weeks ago. I remembered waking beside him afterward, remembered the way he had looked at me and the promise he had made that he would never let me go.I looked down at my stomach again. The timing matched.“This is Darius’s child,” I whispered, more to myself than anyone else.Mira’s eyebrows rose, and he gave me a small, knowing look. “You’ve been here for over two weeks, Ava. Unless you’ve been hiding another man somewhere in the fortress, I’m guessing that’s the answer.” Despite everything, a laugh almost escaped me.“Yes,” I admitted. “It’s Darius’s.”The realization brought a rush of happiness I hadn’t expected. A child. Darius’s child. For someone who had spent so much time wor
AVATwo weeks after Kael’s arrival, I woke up feeling sick. The nausea wasn’t severe enough to frighten me, but it was persistent, sitting unpleasantly in my throat whenever I moved. My limbs felt heavy too, and I had to sit on the edge of the bed for a few seconds before standing because my body didn’t seem interested in cooperating.I blamed the battle and everything that had happened since then. Recovering from my wound, dealing with Kael’s sudden appearance, and watching Darius prepare Hollow Fang for another attack had left little room for rest. I had been running on exhaustion for days, so feeling weak hardly seemed unusual. There was another reason I kept the sickness to myself. I knew exactly how Darius would react if I told him. After what happened during the battle, he was already protective enough. If I told him I was waking up nauseous and weak, he would probably drag a doctor into my room, order me to stay in bed, and find some reason to forbid me from doing anything witho
POV:AVA~~~~~~~Three days later~~~~~~~~~~A scout arrived breathless. He stopped in front of Darius and bowed his head quickly.“My king, someone is approaching the main gate.”Darius looked up from the table. “Who?”“We don't know yet, but he's alone and badly wounded. He appears to have come from Silvercrest.”Darius stood up and reached for his sword. I followed him as the scout hurried ahead, leading us through the corridor towards the main gate. When we got to the gate, several guards had already gathered along the walls. Their weapon were drawn, and everyone was watching the lone figure making his way through the snow.I recognized him before he came any closer.Kael.He shouldn't be here. What happened? And why was he badly injured? There were tons of questions going through my head.He could barely walk properly. His clothes were torn, his face was bruised, and blood was dripping around the side of his neck.Darius stopped beside the gate.“Ready your weapons,” he ordered his g
POV: AVAThe first thing I noticed was that Darius took me to his bedroom instead of the medical tent. I adjusted the pillows, trying to understand why he did that.“What are you doing?” I asked. “Why did you bring me here instead of taking me to the healers?”“That's because I'm treating you myself.”Has he been treating other soldiers like this too? Or was he just giving me preferential treatment, because this is the second time he has done this?He came back with a small medical kit and pulled a chair beside him. I was about to ask a question when he began to remove the damaged pieces of my clothes. He was careful not to touch the fabric against the wound.“You know there are people trained to do this, right?”“I know.”He dipped a cloth into a bowl and began to clean the blood from my arm. He was too careful for someone who could be so rough whenever his temper got the better of him.I watched him prepare to stitch me up. “Where did you learn how to do that?”“My dad taught me som
