ROMAN.

Farah’s eyes were filled with sympathy when they met mine. Whatever she was about to share weighed on her, so it must be serious.

She turned her onto her side and pointed out a specific scar that was roughly the size of a quarter. It had unique markings on it that piqued my curiosity. It didn’t seem to just be a random scar at all.

“This is a Q-Flow device marker. It releases low doses of wolfsbane to keep werewolves weak. This woman is not only malnourished but is also actively being poisoned.”

This was the first time that I had encountered someone with a Q-Flow device, but I was familiar with it. Typically, it was used to keep werewolf prisoners weak, unable to fight back. Depending on the dosage, it could keep the wolf subdued or even kill it if the dosage was high enough.

Creed growled dangerously, knowing that someone had dared to harm his mate. That his wolf mate could be injured or worse. He couldn’t reach Octavia’s wolf, but that wasn’t entirely uncommon when the human w

ROMAN.As much as I wanted to protect my mate from everything, I wasn’t certain how to do that right now.Enemies I could fight. Threats could be neutralized in time. But this? How could I protect her from the weight she carried because of the destiny that had been chosen for her? Creed and I did what we could to help her bear it. She was powerful in a way that was daunting and awe-inspiring. She held the weight on her like letting go of so much as an ounce of it would hurt us. If she wavered, there we were. It was on us to help carry the load with her.But Octavia…she was a stubborn thing. And that was rich coming from me. It was the pot calling the kettle black and all. No matter how hard she attempted to hide it, I could always see the fatigue whenever it hit her. This shivering in her hands after training, how she made herself smile just so that the rest of us didn’t have to worry. It gutted me each time because she shouldn’t feel the need to hide it and to pretend that she was

OCTAVIA.Change was on the horizon. I could feel its weight pressing down on me like a gathering storm. It wasn’t visible yet, not completely, but it was there, humming beneath the surface of every breath, every quiet moment. I’d been doing my best to act unaffected, to wear composure like armor, but I wasn’t sure how convincing I’d been. Roman saw through me too easily. He always did. There were days when it felt like I was treading water in the middle of a vast, unseen ocean with each wave heavier than the last. The responsibilities of being Luna, the uncertainty that lurked behind every new revelation, the quiet fear that I wasn’t enough pressed down until I could barely breathe. And every single time, Roman was there. He was the steady hand that reached into the water and pulled me up before I went under completely. His presence alone was enough to remind me that I wasn’t alone in any of this, that he’d find me no matter how dark or chaotic things got. He always did.He had been my

SAOIRSE.The bass hit me first, thrumming through the floorboards and up into my bones like a second heartbeat. Ireland had no shortage of clubs, but this one was different—darker, more dangerous. It was the kind of place where the wrong glance could start a war, and the right smile could get you everything you wanted.I was dressed to kill, like always. My dress clung in all the right places, black silk that shimmered faintly under the neon lights, cut high enough to distract and low enough to invite. Heels clicked sharp against the floor as I moved, a sound almost swallowed by the heavy thrum of music and the roar of voices shouting over it. Smoke curled lazily in the air—cigarettes, cigars, and something stronger—and the scent mixed with spilled whiskey, sweat, and perfume that lingered like ghosts. The bar stretched long and polished, covered in fingerprints, ringed glasses, and hands exchanging money far too casually for the amounts involved. The barkeep moved with quick precision

OCTAVIA. Today was my first official day as Luna.It was a position that I never thought I’d hold. From being hated and treated like nothing more than a slave to standing proudly beside my Alpha as his Luna, it was the kind of transformation you only ever heard about in stories. Mine had been paved in, scars and resilience. Rags-to-riches didn’t even seem enough to describe it.I was excited and nervous all at once, my chest buzzing with both anticipation and doubt.Roman told me over and over that it would be impossible for me to fail him or the pack, but I couldn’t quite bring myself to believe it.The weight of responsibility pressed heavily against my shoulders, but it was softened by the fact that I wasn’t doing this alone. Deira and I had decided to share an office, which suited us perfectly. She was one hell of a fighter who was becoming a true friend, maybe even a sister. The thought warmed me more than I expected it would.Nallah and Adira had also chosen to share an office a

ROMAN.I had waited for this day for as long as I understood that one day I would have my very own Luna, just like Dad had Mom. As a boy, I used to watch them and wonder when I’d have that kind of bond. Something deeper than friendship, stronger than blood. Patience wasn’t always easy. The years dragged on, especially when those around me began finding their mates while I kept waiting, empty-handed. But I never lost faith. Deep down, I knew she was out there. I knew that when I finally found her, every restless night and every ache of waiting would be worth it.And I was right. I had been so fucking right.Because Octavia was worth every second of the wait. She was my perfect match. My Luna. My partner in all things. There wasn’t a single piece of me that didn’t recognize that truth the moment I first held her, and standing there now, watching her take her place as Luna of this pack, I couldn’t imagine a better mate, a better woman, or a better leader to stand at my side. When she acce

OCTAVIA. Tonight was my Luna ceremony. My heart hadn’t stopped its relentless pounding since sunrise, and even now, as the hour drew near, nerves coiled in my stomach. This was supposed to be one of the most important days of my life, a moment that defined me not just as Roman’s mate but officially as the Luna of our pack.I was grateful for every hand that had helped me prepare, but Goddess, I wished my parents were here to see it. I could almost feel my mother’s soft touch, hear my father’s booming laugh. Instead, I had to trust that they were watching from above, pride shining from wherever they now resided. It wasn’t the same, and the ache of their absence pressed against my ribs like a bruise that refused to fade. But Serena… Serena had been my saving grace. She had stepped into the empty space without ever being asked, guiding me with patience and gentleness. When she pulled me close earlier and whispered how proud she was, I didn’t fight the tears that blurred my vision. I wrap
