The car was a bit too quiet.

Too dark.

Too full of him.

Brandon had one hand on the wheel, the other casually tapping the gear shift like he wasn’t two seconds away from exploding.

His jaw was clenched tight, and his eyes flicked to the road like they couldn’t stand to land on me again.

But mine? They kept slipping to him.

I had never seen him like that before, he made me feel so fragile and tiny just from his gaze.
