Chapter 67

EREBUS

Marcus is shuffling from foot to foot waiting at outside of the cells to see his daughter. His eyes are already brimming to the edge with tears as I unlock the first of the many doors that lead down to where Vanessa has been kept. Grace placed wards around the prison to keep the witches from coming back for her. Leaving her alive was a mistake on their part. One that I am sure they will want to rectify as soon as they can.

As I open the final door to the cells Vanessa calls out from the corner of her cell, “I told you already I don’t know anything more than what I have already told you.” Even locked up in the prison beneath the town hall she maintains her air of arrogance and cruelty.

“That’s not why I am here today,” I say coldly, wanting nothing more than to beat her to a bloody pulp.
