Alessandra's POV

I woke up to see Killian next to me, his face calm, his breathing steady, and I just laid down watching him.......how was someone like him even real

That's when I noticed we were moving and I fully registered we were still in the car but it was morning already

I sat up slowly and adjusted the seat, stretching out my neck. That was when the car finally rolled to a stop.

"How are we just getting here?" I asked my voice low, still scratchy from sleep.

"I drove the whole night" he said casually, reaching into the back seat for his cane.

My eyes lingered on it. He still had a bad leg. Why would he do that to himself?

He glanced at me. "How was your night?"

It was one of the best I'd had in a long time but no way I'm saying that.

I sank into the chair and pouted. "It was uncomfortable. Felt like someone was watching me the whole time."

"That would be me," he said, unbothered. "I'm going to head inside, good morning."

He turned to the door so he coul

  • Ruin Me: Falling for My Best Friend’s Fiancée   Sixty Four - Father vs Son

Killian's POV “I only invited Mom. Why are you here?” I asked Ronan, leaning against the doorframe. Alessandra was upstairs. She could hear us and see us from her room. Some things were better seen and heard than explained.....like the fact that Alessandra thought I was sleeping with Lia. My mom. My mom cheating on my dad? No. That was... nothing, actually. She is crazy about the man and Ronan would kill any fucker who even looked at her wrong. “Did you forget that when people get married, they become one?” Ronan said with a smirk. “You’re just here because you don’t want her sleeping over” I shot back. “Excuse me, both of you,” Lia interrupted, stepping between us like a mother swatting at bickering children. “I don’t understand this silly competition. I love you both equally and I wouldn’t pick between one or the other.” She walked past us without looking back. Ronan followed, a little too close behind. “Where’s Jeremy?” Lia asked. “I called him. He’s with Dad’s c

  • Ruin Me: Falling for My Best Friend’s Fiancée   Sixty three - He’s Not My Man

Alessandra's POV "Are you really going to keep looking at me like that?” Anya asked, rifling through the kitchen cabinets. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to,” I muttered, dropping my gaze. It wasn’t my fault she looked like a completely different person in those baggy jeans and oversized top and—God—she had a wife? I turned to Killian. His face wasn't the usual poker his been smiling about this like he was enjoying my confusion. “It’s fine,” Anya said, shrugging. “I get your confusion. I’m not shocked by it. In a weird way, I actually prefer this version of you. If you’d had the chance back then, you probably would’ve killed me the first time we met.” She wasn’t wrong. I thought about it. A million different ways I could do it. “No, that’s true,” I lie Killian Scoffed....of course he knew I was lying “I’m going upstairs to take a shower,” he said, standing. And just like that, he left. I sat there, quiet again. “You’re not going to ask the question on your mind?

  • Ruin Me: Falling for My Best Friend’s Fiancée   Sixty One - Butterfly in the Rain

Alessandra's POV. "Hi Mom.....how have you been?" I said quietly placing a fresh bouquet on her grave. "I'm sorry I haven't visited as much. Life's been.....a lot and Dad doesn't like it when I come here, but today’s an exception." I sat cross-legged on the grass and started talking. About everything.....I didn't tell her how awful my life was I didn't want her to worry. I talked about my perfect fake life until my voice got hoarse. Eventually, I checked the time. Three hours had passed. Neither Alex nor Dad had shown up. I waited, I tried calling Alex. but it went straight to voicemail. Our last few conversations already felt one-sided again, but she wouldn’t miss this. She wouldn’t forget today. I kept telling myself that. After another hour, I left to find something to eat. Ended up at a diner not far from the cemetery. The kind with chipped mugs and a waitress who called everyone “sweetheart.” I didn’t even finish my food before I dozed off in the booth. When I

Alessandra's POV. I barely registered the event. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t do anything. Once dinner was over, I left. I came home, shut the door behind me, and leaned against it slowly my legs gave out until I was sitting on the floor with my knees pulled to my chest. How could he? Why would he? My knees dropped slightly as the questions kept circling in my head When I felt a tear slide down my cheek, I wiped it away immediately. No way I’m crying for him again. That’s when I felt something soft nudge against my leg with gentle licks. "Lu," I whispered, and she looked up at me, tilting her head like she understood. "What do you think?" She blinked, then licked my knee again. "I should move out. I don’t think I can stay here." My fingers sank into her fur as I rubbed her head, and i walked to my room and pulled out a suitcase. I didn’t overthink it. I just packed what I needed. The rest could stay. I zipped the bag shut and carried it downstairs when I

Alessandra's POV "Something you'd like to share with your old man?" My father asked again, and I instinctively stepped back. "Nothing, Papa. Just lost in thought," I said, keeping my eyes anywhere but on his face. "Ah......how are we doing over here?" Ronan’s voice drifted into the room, light and sarcastic. "Castillo, I didn’t think you’d be in here. I thought you came to see me. I’m hurt." My dad shifted his expression quickly, schooling his face into something warmer. "Well, I hardly see my princess these days," he said, brushing his hand through my hair like he had every right to. I sucked in a breath but smiled anyway. "I had to catch a glimpse of her. Make sure she looks like my princess" "Now I feel left out, I should go see if Lia is still up for having a daughter."Ronan said with a light chuckle "While I hate to break this up, Castillo, we have business to discuss." The air shifted again. Ronan didn’t wait for permission. "How are the private prisons coming along?"
