The warmth of Maverick’s body calmed me. It felt nice to be held. It didn’t matter if it was by a person who I wasn’t sure of. I at least felt wanted, which is something that I haven’t felt since coming here.

I rolled over to face him.

“I’m sorry for getting you in trouble.”

“Don’t worry about it. I’m a big boy.”

“I thought maybe we should be political about the changes we want to make.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You don’t want to carry on your father’s legacy and I don’t want to live this way anymore, so we should make it political. Your father through a coup, why can’t we?”

I could see Maverick’s eyes search my face for any signs that I was joking. I was serious. Why couldn’t we overthrow his father?

“We could get people on our side. People would listen to you.”

“My father will kill you.”
