Chapter Thirteen

Maverick

Today I’m meeting with a friend from college who shares the same ideas and I’m hoping I can convince him to join us. I told him it was an important private matter, and he agreed to meet with me at his home.

“I didn’t think I would see you this soon after leaving university,” Collin stated.

“I heard you are already expecting a child.”

“I am. Lacy got pregnant while we were still in school. It’s a girl, which isn’t surprising. So, you said you needed my help with something.”

“I do, but what we discuss has to remain between the two of us, even if you decide to not help me.”

“I can make that promise.”

“Maddox and I want to overthrow my father and take over. We want to make changes. We want our future wives and daughters to have the freedom to live life the way they want to, but we need more men to help us.”

“Say no more, I’m in.”

“It’ll be dangerous.”

“I don’t care. As long as it gives my daughter a chance at a better life, I’m in.”
