Chapter Nine

Ivy

Those bastards have kept me in this suit for three days with nothing to do. They have someone bringing me food and someone to tend to my wounds, but they refuse to talk to me when they are here.

“Have you learned your lesson?” Maddox asked as he opened the door.

“Yes.”

“Good. You’ll be free to leave the room starting tomorrow. Maverick and I will be back tonight. Don’t mess this up, Ivy.”

“I won’t. Can I please have a book or some kind of puzzle?”

Maddox walked over to me and gave me the book I was ready back.

“If you want more books, you can start spending time in the library on the second floor starting tomorrow. Tell one of us where you’re going and when you expect to be done.”

Maddox turned around and was heading back towards the door.

“Where are you going?”

“I have work to finish. I’ll be back later.”

“I want someone to talk to.”

“It can’t be me. I have shit to do. You can talk to Maverick when he comes up in a while.”
