Kathryn’s POV

I watched in silence as Roland opened his arms wide for Charlize. My daughter looped her short arms around his neck while Roland lifted her and gave her kisses on either side of her cheeks.

“How are you, lovely girl?” He had a grin on his face as he asked. “Were you good while I wasn’t around?”

Charlize nodded her head slowly. “Daddy Roland, you know, I found a new playmate today,” she looked behind me, and Roland waved his hand toward a confused Grayson. “He told me that he wants to be my older brother, so I accepted it.”

“Oh. And who might that be?” Roland grinned back as the two of them let out a laughter that echoed in the hallway.

My heartbeat suddenly quickened when I remembered that Wilhelm was still there.

I looked at him and found that his cold gaze was fixed on Roland.
