PHOEBE

His lips were still on mine, soft and warm, and for a moment, I let myself sink into them. The way his arms wrapped around my waist like he’d never let go again. For those seconds, it felt like nothing else mattered, not Ciara, not the heartbreak, not the time we’d spent apart.

But then the weight of everything came crashing down.

I broke the kiss and pushed against his chest, just enough to put space between us. I stared up at him, breathing hard, my chest rising and falling like I’d just run a marathon.

Ramon’s face was full of confusion. “Phoebe?”

My eyes burned, and I felt the tears pushing through, fast and hot. “What do you want from me?” I choked out. “What the hell do you want, Ramon?”

He looked stunned. “Phoebe, I…”

“No!” I backed away from his arms, shaking my head. “You don’t get to just show up here, kiss me, and expect everything to be okay!”

“I don’t,” he said quickly, stepping toward me. “I swear, I don’t expect that. I just wanted to talk, to explain…”

RAMONPhoebe pulled me close again, her hands sliding around my neck, and our lips met like a promise unspoken. I could feel the tension melt from her body little by little, replaced by something softer… something trusting. It meant everything to me.Her fingertips brushed the side of my face like she was memorizing it, like she wanted to be sure I was real. I leaned into her touch. She didn’t say a word, but I could read her eyes, she was scared, still holding onto some of the hurt, but she was here. With me. Choosing me. And that was all I needed.I brought my forehead to hers, letting my eyes close for a moment. Her breath was steadying, but there was still a hint of shakiness in it, not from fear, but from the weight of everything between us. And I got it. This wasn’t easy. It wasn’t perfect. But it was real.“Are you okay?” I whispered, opening my eyes to meet hers again. She nodded slowly. “I think so. I just… I don’t want to be afraid anymore.”“You don’t have to be,” I said g

RAMONPhoebe’s breath hitched as I kissed along her neck, slow and careful. I wasn’t rushing. I didn’t want to. I wanted to take in every sound, every look in her eyes, every small touch that made her tremble.“You’re beautiful,” I whispered against her skin. “I don’t think you even know what you do to me.”She looked down at me, cheeks flushed, eyes wide and full of emotion. “I… I’m scared,” she whispered. “Of how much I feel.”I cupped her face gently. “Don’t be scared, baby. I’m right here. I’m not leaving. You’re safe with me.”Her eyes searched mine like she was trying to be sure. I didn’t move. I let her look. Then slowly, she nodded and leaned in, kissing me again, but this time slower, softer, like she was telling me with her lips what her heart couldn’t say out loud. Our kisses grew deeper, heavier, filled with heat. Her hands slid under my shirt again, and this time I helped her, lifting it over my head and tossing it aside. She traced her fingers over my chest, her touch ma

RAMONI looked at her, really looked at her.Her eyes were red and watery, her cheeks still damp with tears. But even like that…especially like that…she was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. And when she whispered that I had hurt her… it shattered something deep in me.“I’m sorry,” I said again, softer this time, my voice almost shaking. “I never meant to. I swear.”She didn’t say anything. She just stood there, staring at me. And then, all of a sudden, she stepped forward, slowly, like she wasn’t sure if she should.I didn’t move. I didn’t even breathe. Then she reached up, rested her hand on my chest, right over my heart. It was beating so fast. So was hers, I could feel it. Like our hearts were trying to speak to each other, even when our words weren’t enough. When her eyes met mine again, there was something different there. Not just pain anymore. There was love. A deep, aching kind of love. And maybe… forgiveness too.And just like that, we kissed again. This time, there wa

WINNIEI stood just outside the door, holding my breath, listening carefully for any sound. The shouting had stopped, and for a moment, I let out a quiet sigh of relief. Thank God. Finally, some peace. The tension that had been hanging in the air felt a little lighter now, like a storm passing over, leaving a calm that felt almost unfamiliar.I pushed the door open gently and stepped away, heading back toward the poolside. The warm sun hit my face, but I hardly noticed. My eyes quickly found Ciara pacing nervously near the edge, her movements restless and sharp. She looked like a caged animal, her eyes flicking this way and that, as if she was searching for Ramon or maybe for something to grab onto, something that would give her the control she was clearly desperate for.As soon as she spotted me, her face brightened with a mix of hope and impatience. The kind of hope that comes when you’re waiting for someone to show up, and impatience because they aren’t here yet. “Where is he?” she

PHOEBEThe second Winnie walked away, I regretted being left alone.Ciara didn’t waste a second. She turned to me with that same sugary smile she always wore when she wanted to get under someone’s skin. "Hope you don't hold any bad blood against me," she said sweetly, brushing her long hair behind her ear like we were having a pleasant conversation.I didn’t respond. I didn’t even look at her. My eyes stayed fixed on the pool water, pretending she wasn’t sitting right next to me like a bad dream I couldn’t wake up from. She didn’t care."I mean," she continued, shifting in her seat so she could face me better, "it’s not really my fault, right? That I fell for your boyfriend. Ramon’s pretty hot. It happens."I felt my nails dig into the palm of my hand. I kept my face blank, kept everything locked tight inside. If she was trying to get a reaction out of me, she wasn’t going to get it. Not today."Come on," she added with a laugh that made my skin crawl. "I actually thought you two were
