Chapter 27 - Lilly's pov.

I check my missed messages for the umpteenth time. I sigh in frustration. "Don't worry, honey," Beth says for the third time. "But they've been gone so long. What if something happened? What if it wasn't a lost hiker?" Claire follows my pacing from her playpen, clueless as to why I'm so restless. "They can handle it. Don't forget, they're werewolves, and pretty strong ones at that."

Sighing, I collapse onto the couch. My thoughts drift to Dex, immediately followed by guilt as I think back on how attractive he was when he was giving orders in full Alpha mode. I should be thinking about Bruce, not my so-called mate, who's about to reject me.

I force myself to think about Bruce, and for a moment, I succeed, but my thoughts automatically drift back to Dex. I give up and turn my attention to Claire, who's still watching me anxiously. She seems to sense something's wrong; she stretches out her arms, and I'm only too happy to lift her out of the box. Glad I can use h

    Chapter 42 - Dex. Pov.We're driving through one of the city's wealthiest neighborhoods, searching for the house in the photo. How Alex ended up here is a mystery to me. There are two possibilities: he's either incredibly well-connected or he blackmailed a family into letting him use their house. I'm not sure which option I'm hoping for. I hope an innocent family doesn't get caught, but if he knows the people... We could easily be ambushed.     Chapter 38 - Lilly’s pov.We spend the rest of the afternoon reviewing footage, hoping to figure out where Alex is hiding. By the end of the afternoon, Dex is so frustrated that he angrily slams his laptop shut. Usually, I'm happy when I'm proven right, but in this case, I wish I wasn't.
