Neve

We arrive at the clubhouse. It’s pretty much how I imagined it to look on the outside. There are three large shutters, two at each end are pulled down but the middle one is lifted halfway, giving us access. Inside, there’s a bar to the left. Ryder clears his throat to gain his attention but it doesn’t work, he continues to stare up at the small television hung on the wall. “Whiskey, this is Neve,” says Griff. He looks over, giving a slight nod of his head. He then picks Harlee up, “And Ha

Ryder “It’s a good deal,” mused Benedetto, his fingers rubbing his goatee. “A very good deal. We’re much more reliable than Finn, that’s why you came to us months ago,” says Griff. “I’m sure you were just as sickened as us to hear about his recent dealings in sex slaves.” “I came to you months ago and you turned me down. I’m meeting with Finn later this evening. I’ll discuss these rumours with him.” “Meeting Finn, where?” I ask. Ben eyes me suspiciously and Griff leans forward. “He’s taken Ryders old lady,” he says and I glare at him. “We’ve been trying to track her down.” “I’ve never seen him with a woman. But this does explain your enthusiasm to ruin him,” says Ben. “We’re being honest with you, Ben, that’s how we do business. We don’t hide shit and we don’t lie,” says Griff. “That’s a good quality, I like that. Maybe we can discuss this offer further in the morning once I’ve straightened things with Finn? I’ll let you know if I see your old lady.” He stands and we shake

I head for the office and call Benedetto Ricci’s mobile. He answers straight away, his tone guarded, after all, I’ve already turned down two deals previously from the Italians. “Ethan Ryder Fenton,” he drawls in his Italian accent, “To what do I owe this pleasure?” “Benedetto, how are you?” “All good, is there a problem?” “No, no problem. I wanted to arrange a meet with you.” There’s a long pause. “About?” he eventually asks. “Business. I hear that Finnegan Lawrence isn’t as reliable as he once promised.” “Where did you hear that, Ryder? Your source is wrong.” Trust the Italians to not want to lose face and admit they’ve made a bad choice. “I don’t think so Ben, to have his boat hit once is concerning, but twice, well…” I trail off. “Twice?” Ben repeats. Clearly this is the first he’s heard about it. Finn must have made up some bullshit to delay his delivery. “Yes, his boats are unguarded and he’s spending more time dealing in sex slaves than guns. We all know that slavery

Ryder I sit back in my chair and wait for the brother’s to take a seat around the large table. I’d called church the second I got back to the club. We need to all be on the same page when it comes to taking down Finn fucking Lawerence. I bang the gavel on the table to get everyone’s attention. The sound sends a radiating pain through my skull but I ignore it, whatever pain I’m in, is probably a lot less that Neve’s right now. I throw the dead bunch of flowers onto the table and then men stare at them. “A get well present from the bastard himself,” I snap, “We staked out a few of Finn’s known businesses last night. Cal, fill us in.” “We spent the night watching the docks where Finn brings his drugs in. All quiet, his lock up wasn’t manned and so we knocked on, couldn’t hear anything and we eventually managed to break in, but it was empty. We think he’s moved bases because we’d hit it the boat last week. He also runs with the Irish and so we checked their spot out but again nothin

I feel myself being lifted. The smell doesn’t belong to Finn, I hate his spicy scent. This one smelt of alcohol and sweat. I prize one eye open, the other refuses and I assume it’s swollen shut. The man holding me is large. His head is large and his hands are even larger, and he carries me down the stairs with little effort like I weigh nothing. He goes through the kitchen and towards that door that’s always kept locked. I don’t have any energy to argue and I spot Mary holding the door open for us to go inside and as we pass, she keeps her head lowered. We descend the stone steps and as we get lower, the air changes to cold and damp. There are no windows and the only light is from a dim bulb hanging in the centre. I glance around and spot three dirty mattresses on the ground. The man deposits me on the nearest one, and pain radiates through my body. I clutch my ribs, wincing. “Wait,” I whisper, my voice cracking. “What about Harlee?” He doesn’t bother to look back, instead taking th

Neve Three days, we’ve been here for three damn days with no sign of the mc and not a single chance to escape this hell. All kinds of scenarios have filled my head these last few days, one being that Ryder hasn’t made it. That breaks my heart. And the other being that the mc have found him and think I’ve done it and gone on the run. “Mary do you like working here?” I ask, peeling a potato. “Neve, you know we can’t talk about things like that. If Finnegan overheard, he’d be mad.” It’s another one of Finn’s stupid rules. All staff have been warned not to befriend me. He’s already guessed that I’d try that first. If the staff feel sorry for me, they might help me leave. Mary gives me a sympathetic smile. “I’ve worked here a long time. Since Finnegan was a small boy.” “You knew his parents?” I ask, feeling relieved that she hasn’t chose to work for Finn but has perhaps done it more out of obligation. “That’s enough chit chat, chop those potatoes.” “I didn’t know Finns parents. Wh

I arch a brow. “Your world? Fine. Okay. So if I was to step outside with your five-year-old daughter in my arms, you’re telling me your men will kill us?” “Run outside with her and find out, Neve. I dare you.” I pinch the bridge of my nose. “I feel like I’ve woken in a different world. Why are you doing this to us, Finn?” “You’re my girls and you belong to me.” “So it’s about power and possession. I don’t belong to anyone. Not Ryder and certainly not you. You can’t own another person, Finn, it’s mental. All of this is mental.” “Of all the men in this fucking world you had to fall for that piece of shit. Just like fucking Alice! You have been fucking my enemy. He controls you and you let him so yes, he thinks he owns you, owns what’s mine. You gave me no choice but to take you back.” I startle at the Alice comment, he’s never mentioned her to me and it sounded so personal. “Ryder doesn’t control me…” “Since we broke up, Neve, we’ve spoken every single night. He comes a long and
