Laila's POV

“A date?” The words sounded strange coming from him. I stared at him, half certain I’d misheard.

Kieran stepped back. “That’s what I said.”

I frowned, holding the robe to my chest. “Why?”

He raised an eyebrow. “Should I have a reason?”

“Yes,” I said, my brows knitted.

He shrugged, casual, as if it were nothing. “You should get some sleep, Laila. We’ll go out tomorrow night. I’ll have your handmaiden arrange everything.”

My lips parted, but no words came. I draped the robe over my shoulders tying it tightly as I made my way to the door.

My mind buzzed with unanswered questions as I walked away, the robe clutched tighter around me

Kieran didn't strike me as the romantic type. The idea of him planning a ‘date’ felt absurd.

A date sounded like a big deal considering the fact I had never gone on one.

I understood the concept but the idea of sitting across from him, in a candlelight dinner, alone holding hands sent my heart to my throat.

Absentmindedly, I reached my chambers an

Laila's POV My legs went dead as I shot him with a dubious look.“That's what you're here for?” I whispered, taking a step back.“No no you misunderstand,” he said quickly raising his hand. “I was trying to help a pretty girl before I recognized you.”I studied him warily, my heartbeat echoing in my ears. “What do you want?”“Relax,” he said, lowering his hand. “I’m not going to rat you out.”I frowned. “And why should I believe that?”He tilted his head, the faintest smirk tugging at his lips. “Because I hate your Queen as much as you.”I stared at him, searching for the lie. “She wants you dead or alive, so if you jumped it would save me the stress of fighting to get the reward.” He tried to convince me.I didn’t answer. My eyes drifted to the cliff again. The wind howled louder now, and for a second, I weighed my options. He must’ve noticed, because he said, “Can you fly?”“Fly?” I repeated, my voice trembling between disbelief and irritation. “Why would I—what kind of question is

Laila’s POV“That’s insane.” Alex said gently, his eyes holding a look of sympathy that was getting to my nerves. He had changed into a tank top now wearing shorts, his hair ruffled up after taking a bath.“Why don’t you understand me,” I rubbed my temples pacing in the room.“Do you even understand yourself?” he exhaled. “You’re talking about resurrection, bring someone back from the dead.”“I did it once,” I urged.“What?” he gawked at me, his eyes going wide.“My baby died once, I brought him back.” My voice was hoarse as I explained.Alex leaned forward, cocking a brow. “You’re saying you brought the dead to life?”“I know it sounds crazy but I did it before, my baby died… somehow I brought him back.” I voiced my tone barely above a whisper.Alex shook his head. “Laila look, maybe what you’re saying is true, maybe it might be the reason he’s gone.”“What do you mean?” My eyes narrowed as I looked at him straight.“I’m saying he's gone and you’re in the third stage of grief, you

Laila's POV It was more devastating finding out the odds were always against my little boy.He was always a fighter.Even when he was killed he returned to me, but I couldn't recall the rest of the story. My head rested against the cool glass, the ache behind my eyes steady and sharp. Why couldn’t I remember the rest? Why did my own mind feel like it was working against me?“Laila,” Alex’s voice cut through my trance. “Hey… Laila.”I blinked, jerking slightly. “Huh?”He gave a short sigh. “You zoned out. We’re here.”I looked around, realizing the car had stopped. The engine purred softly, headlights washing over a massive iron gate.Alex got out, came around to my side, and opened the door. “Come on.”The chill night air brushed against my skin. He extended his hand to help me out. I hesitated for a second then took it. When I stepped down, my breath hitched. Before me stood a towering structure of glass and stone. The lights shimmered across its sleek walls, reflecting the city s

Laila's POV A heavy heart. That was all that remained after the anger that once burned in me had gone out, leaving only the smoke of what used to be fire. I pressed a hand against my chest, the twisting ache refused to let me breathe properly.I would never get to see him again. I would never get to hold him. What could be worse than that?Through my blurry gaze, I could still see his pretty wide blue eyes, his chubby cheeks and the sounds of his giggles and cries.“How did you die?” I whispered to the empty dungeon. “Were you scared? Were you crying for me?”My voice broke on the last word. I tilted my head back and stared at the cracks in the ceiling, counting them so I wouldn’t have to count the seconds I’d failed to protect him. I wondered who had really done it. Fiona? Or Kayla? Maybe both. Maybe none of them. Maybe the world just hated me enough to make sure I lost the only thing that mattered.Revenge had felt like purpose for a while. But now, even the thought of it was ho

  • SECOND Chance MATE TO The LYCAN : Who dares Touch my LUNA   chapter 60

Laila's POV I stood frozen beside Kieran’s bed, my hands hovering over him, and the question burned in my mind. How could this happen? “Alex… what happened to him?” I asked, voice barely above a whisper, raw with disbelief. He shook his head slowly, running a hand through his hair. “I… I’m not sure, Laila. I found him like this. We called in the seer, she couldn’t help him.”I swallowed hard, my heart tightening. “His… his sister?” I choked out. “It was her. The same sister he spoke of, the one he was so proud of. He claimed he would have never turned his back on her, and yet she… she’s ready to sacrifice him for her… her taste for power.” My voice cracked, raw with anger and betrayal. I felt bile rise, but I pushed it down, focusing on the bed before me.Alex exhaled slowly, his eyes scanning me as if trying to gauge what I was capable of. He could sense I had changed. “I’ve seen you heal people, Laila,” he said carefully. “Maybe you… maybe you can help him.”I looked at him, feeli
