CHAPTER SIXTY EIGHT
~EMETT AND ASHLEY~
Emett and Ashley found themselves enjoying each other’s company off to the side of the pool, comfortable in a couple of beach chairs that they found. They both sipped on beer, talking about Ashley’s love for dance. It was good conversation, but there was something that Emett wanted to clarify with the
blonde. After all, he was on a mission.
“So why do I get the feeling you don’t like Kahlan?” he questioned. Ashley stared at him, wondering what gave it away. It wasn’t hard though. She and Kahlan barely spoke. She wasn’t sure if she should be honest with Emett, considering the relationship he seemed to have with Kahlan. She propped her legs up on the beach chair, crossing them at the ankles as she lay back. She blinked.

~KAHLAN AND EMETT~There was a light knock on my bedroom door. I looked up to see Emett. I sat on the edge of my bed with my head in my hands. I was remembering things I tried so hard to forget. They were taking over my mind because I once found myself in this same situation. I shook my head as if that was going to shake thememories loose, as if they would fall out, but all I was doing was making myself sick to my stomach. Emett knocked again, and for a moment, everything stopped. I looked up at him. He smiled.“So, this is where you’re hiding.” I looked around. I hadn’t even realized that I had climbed the steps to my bedroom.“I had a little too much to drink,” I slurred. He stumbled over to me, taking a seat beside me on the bed.

~THE GROUP~We all crowded a table in Ihop, staring at Brooke. We all had questions that needed answers. Thetwins met up with us as well, seeming to have their own questions.“You were the only one who didn’t get drunk last night. Therefore you can tell us what happened,” I started. She glanced around the table at all of our faces, a slight smile on her face. She was amused. “We really need to know.”“I don’t know everything,” she said. “Dino and I left around 1 am, and you guys were still going hard.”“Tell us what you can,” Carly replied.“Well, Kahlan was trashed. She and Emett were caught making out by

~THE HANCOCKS~ Mya and Amy sat at the dining room table putting together a seating chart for the rehearsal dinner and the actual wedding. Julia then came in with a basket full of green and clear bags. Amy looked inside one of them. “It's for the thank you cards,” Julia said, “They’re wrapped in pretty bows. The girls get the perfume and the guys get the chains.”“Nice,” Mya said, continuing her work. “So Julia,” Amy began, “you never told us about your family. I mean who is coming?” “Well, I don’t have much family,” she replied looking at the girls. “My mother and I aren’t on good terms, my father, well he’s coming. He’s 89 and insists on walking me down the aisle, no matter what.” The girls smiled. “And my brother, he’s coming as well. He’s going to be your fathers best man.” She shook her head. “You don’t approve?” Amy asked. “My brother is a twenty five year old player. Or at least that’s what he thinks he is.” The girls chuckled. “He’s going to try to hit on every woman.”

~SANDINO AND BROOKE~ “So how do I look?” Sandino asked when he came out of the bathroom. Brooke lay in bed looking at a pregnancy magazine. She looked up. “You look like a male nurse,” she answered honestly. Sandino looked in the mirror. He was used to his tight pants, t-shirts, and striped jackets and now, here he stood in light green scrubs. “Well,” he said, leaning over towards Brooke, “wish me good luck on my first day.” She smiled as he kissed her on her forehead. ~KAHLAN AND THE CASTLES~ As soon as I walked into the house, Emett and Terry greeted me. “Where have you been?” Terry asked, “We were left here… worried.” I chuckled. “I slept over at a friends.” Hmm, it wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t the whole truth either. “And this morning?” “I had an appointment, “ I answered. “With your therapist?” Emett asked. I looked over at him. “if you must know… yes.” They looked at me. “Are you ashamed of having a therapist?” he asked. “No.” “Well good,” he answered, “because you

~KAHLAN, MYA AND EMETT~ “Yes, hello my name is Julia Sanders,” I said into the receiver of my phone. Most of us had crowded into the living room of the Hancock home. There would be no need to start setting up for the wedding if the Bride and Groom planned on returning home. So first things first, we need to get rid of them. All eyes were on me as everyone watching to see if there would be any success in this plan. “Last name S-A-N-D-E-R-S.”“And what can I help you with today Ms. Sanders.” “Well miss, I am getting married, but before I walk down the isle I want to have the time of my life.” The woman chuckled into my ear, waiting for me to be more specific. “I’d like a suite for two nights, something that will measure up to the best bachelorette party. Can you help?” I heard the sound of shifting through the phone. “Well we have two types of suites,” the woman began. “How many beds would you like?” That was a good question. We had only two days to pull off this wedding, meaning t

~PAUL~ He stood in the center of the living room, looking around himself. Things weren’t connecting. Neither he or Julia could afford something like this, so how was it that he had a chauffeur, a butler and a nice hotel room? Patrick stood at a bar that was off to the left side of the room. He had three shot glasses sat up and rummaged through the cabinets looking for a particular tequila.“So you think my sister pulled this off?” Patrick spoke with a smile on his face. Paul looked at him. It had to be, it was the only thing that made sense. Paul was dressed in baggy jeans, and overly large green shirt and white had. He looked as if he had spent his child hood watching MTV. “I’m going to tell you right now that Julia would not be able to do this. She does

~JUSTIN AND EMETT~ All of the deliveries were made early the next morning. We were up like busy bees. We decided to work on the inside of the house first. Carly was the wedding coordinator and the designer. She had many ideas and was ready to get started. Everyone took her directions, trusting her to make the right decisions. Carly wanted a certain image to be captured and she vowed by the end of the night, it would be. Christian and Chad worked on table placements. We decided that the food should be kept inside, so three large rectangle tables were placed, two in the living room and we used the dining table already placed. They were covered with a dark green tablecloth that matched the colors of the twin’s dresses. The food would be delivered the morning of the wedding. ~KAHLAN AND JUSTIN~ Everyone who was invited to the rehearsal dinner had left. Justin, Emett, Christian, Terry, Brandon and I were left behind. For the most part, the decorating was done. There were a few minor details that we needed to improve on, and that was mainly the outside areas. Justin and I spent the night hanging lights in the backyard. We were silent most of the time, unless giving each other directions. I stood tall on a ladder, trying my best to hook the lights on the gutters of the house. Justin stood beside me, ready to catch me if I was to go falling down.“I’m excited,” I murmured to myself, reaching up, not thinking that Justin had heard. He did.&ldquo
