Chapter 15

Amos didn't think Sera understood beauty. The sound of the violin was so beautiful, soft, and heart-wrenching. He almost thought of Sera's tenderness, but then he remembered what she had done to him.

The wound was still gaping. It was sore and painful. Several scratch marks appeared on his chest. But, he felt better like that than having to get healing ointment.

To avoid Sera's torture, Amos pretends to be asleep.

The sound of the violin continued to play until half an hour later.

Then silence.

The silence made Amos feel uncomfortable. He tried to neutralize his heartbeat. He had to pretend to be unconscious.

Amos heard the sound of slow steps approaching. He tried to calm down, but his heart was still beating fast. He felt a touch on his cheek. Sera's fingers were hot.

The touch was very gentle. Amos wasn't sure it was really Sera.
