ALVINA’S POV

The sky was already turning gray by the time we reached the edge of the forest. Bryan leaned on me heavily, his breathing rough and uneven. Hardin walked ahead of us, blood dripping slowly from a wound on his arm.

“We need to keep moving,” Hardin said, his voice firm but tired. “They’ll send trackers after us soon.”

“I know,” I answered, glancing back nervously. “But Bryan can’t walk any faster. He’s losing strength.”

Bryan gave a weak laugh. “Don’t worry about me. I’ve been worse.”

I frowned. “You always say that.”

“And I always survive,” he whispered with a grin.

Hardin stopped and turned. “You won’t survive long if you keep talking. Save your breath.”

I shot Hardin a glare. “He’s not a soldier anymore, Hardin. He’s barely alive.”

Hardin sighed and rubbed his neck. “I know… I just….” He stopped mid-sentence and froze. “Wait.”

“What is it?” I whispered.

Hardin pulled me close and pointed toward the trees. “We’re being followed.”

Before I could react, a gust of wind blew

  • SHADOW OF THE PAST: THE CURSED ALPHA   Chapter 218 – Special Tool

PEARL’S POVThe night air inside the villa felt heavy, too quiet, and too still. Everyone was asleep, except me.I sat in my room, staring into the small crystal ball on the table. The flickering blue light inside it pulsed like a heartbeat.Hardin and Alvina had gone to Melanie’s fortress. Somehow, they’d broken through her dark barrier and rescued Bryan. I still didn’t understand how it was possible. No one ever escaped Melanie’s fortress alive. My heart pounded as I lit the black candle on my table. The flame flickered red. That was the signal to summon her.I took a deep breath and whispered, “Melanie… my Queen, I summon you.”For a moment, the air stood still. Then the candle’s flame stretched tall, and black smoke filled the room. The shadows deepened until everything around me disappeared. When the smoke cleared, I was no longer in my chamber. I was standing inside a cold, dark hall made of stone and iron. The torches burned blue along the walls, and the scent of sulfur hung in

  • SHADOW OF THE PAST: THE CURSED ALPHA   Chapter 216: Rescue In The South Dungeon

ALVINA’S POV“Alright,” I whispered as Hardin spread a rough sketch on the cold stone floor. “So this is the path to the south dungeon?”He nodded. “Yes. These tunnels lead directly under the fortress. But they’re full of traps. One wrong step and we’ll both be dead.”I stared at the messy lines on his paper. “You sound so confident. Has anyone ever tried it before?”He smirked a little. “Maybe one or two fools. They didn’t make it.”I rolled my eyes. “That’s encouraging.”He folded the paper and looked up at me. “We can’t afford fear now, Alvina. Bryan is counting on you.”I met his gaze and nodded. “Then let’s go.”We moved through the dark tunnels, our footsteps light and careful. The air smelled of dust and blood.I could hear the echo of dripping water and distant chains clinking somewhere far below.“Are you sure this is the right way?” I whispered.Hardin stopped and looked around. “Yes. The south dungeon is just beyond that iron gate.”He pointed ahead. I could barely see it t

  • SHADOW OF THE PAST: THE CURSED ALPHA   Chapter 215: Let's Bring Them Home

ALVINA’S POVThe night was quiet when I woke up with a start, my heart beating fast. Sweat rolled down my neck as Bryan’s voice echoed in my mind, his voice was faint, desperate, and full of pain.“Alvina… help me…”I sat up immediately, gasping. My hands trembled as I whispered, “Bryan?”But there was only silence.I pressed a hand over my chest, still feeling the echo of his voice. “It was just a dream,” I told myself. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t. It felt real, too real.Bryan was in trouble.I stood up and went to the window. The moon hung pale in the sky, and a strange wind blew against my face.“I’m coming for you,” I whispered.I didn’t tell anyone about my decision. Not Kieran, not Jade’s father, not even Shirley.I knew they would try to stop me.So before dawn, I packed my small bag, a dagger, my magic stones, and a piece of cloth Bryan once gave me.“Please protect me,” I whispered to it, tucking it close to my chest.I never knew that the magic that Melanie taught me wo

ALVINA’S POVI was in my room that morning when Shirley burst through the door, her little face pale and frightened.“Miss Alvina!” she cried. “Something’s wrong with Lady Jade!”I turned quickly. “What do you mean something’s wrong?”“She looked… sad last night,” Shirley stammered. “And this morning, I went to her room, but she wasn’t there. Her bed was empty.”I frowned. “Are you sure? Maybe she went out for a walk.”Shirley shook her head. “No, I checked the garden. I even went near the stables. She’s nowhere!”My heart dropped. Jade never went anywhere without telling someone.“Alright,” I said, grabbing my cloak. “Let’s go. I’ll find her myself.”I went straight to Jade’s room. The bed was neatly made. The window curtains fluttered in the wind. Her things were still there, her books, and the rest of her belongings were intact.“Jade?” I called softly. “Are you here?”No answer.I checked the bathroom, the balcony, even under the bed like a fool. Nothing. Then I ran to the garden.

  • SHADOW OF THE PAST: THE CURSED ALPHA   Chapter 213: The Shadow of Doubt

KIERAN’S POVI couldn’t sleep.Pearl’s words kept echoing in my head.“Keep an eye on your wife… she’s meeting someone secretly.”It sounded ridiculous at first.Jade wouldn’t do that. Not after everything we had faced together. But the seed was already planted. And that night, it refused to let me rest.I sat in bed, staring at the ceiling, listening to Jade’s soft breathing beside me.She looked peaceful. Then, all of a sudden, she stirred. She sat up quietly, careful not to wake me.I closed my eyes halfway, pretending to sleep, but my mind was wide awake. She picked up her cloak from the chair and slipped it on.Then she opened the door slowly and stepped out into the hallway. My heart skipped a beat.Where was she going at this hour?I got up silently, grabbed my sword, and followed her while keeping my distance. The night air outside the villa was cold. The moonlight spread across the garden like silver mist.Jade moved fast, her cloak brushing the grass.I hid behind one of th
